Turns out Polperro has a lot of really interesting history and has proven itself to be of national significance on a few occasions. It was also one of the most prominent and probably most organised centres of smuggling in Cornwall. Apparently, the beach we were at yesterday was still being used for smuggling in 1979 when there was a major drugs bust there!
