Voopmont's ancestors originate from earth when Vooperia (see The United Federations) completed one of its first FTL drives. The drive was tested and went out of control, going completely off course. Heroically, Dugland James, captain of the cruiser, managed to navigate the vessel to a nearby planet which they named "Marlowe". This marked the beginning of the Voopmontian calendar, being known as year 0. Because of the odd quantum properties of the planet, time passed extremely slowly compared to most of the universe until very recently.

Voopmont is a centralist nation that values economy and all forms of industry above all else. It was founded out of many city states and small nations merging in year 234. The most important reasons include cultural and ethnic similarities and the promise of better protection from the many newly emerged countries in the region.

Through many past conflicts it has realised that war is not something it is fond of. Of its many past conflicts, the War of the Kirstein Sea, in year 560 was the last major war that Voopmont participated very actively in. With over eight hundred thousand casualties, the citizens nearly voted for demilitarization in year 563, a little less than a year after its end. This kind of thinking has led to military conscription because of very few people wanting to join.

Currently (year 683), the 77th Prime Minister of voopmont is Jonny Hornet (second three year term out of 4 max), with the high approval rating of 57 percent. Many of the voters disagree with him on numerous issues, although he has kept this high approval rating because citizens have noticed drastic improvement in economy, living standards and general well being. The Prime Minister is one of the few politicians whose voter support has barely changed since inauguration in year 678.

Voopmont's national animal is the Voopmontian Orca, representing extreme well-roundedness and unity. It was chosen by Prime Minister Hannes Hidalgo in year 510 as a way to draw attention to Voopmont after one of its neighboring nations had made a significant technological advancement.

Despite the extremely low public approval ratings of interference in foreign conflicts, Voopmont spends a hefty seven hundred billion voops a year in military spending. It retains this high spending rate mostly because of the hostile nature of many of its neighbors. There are currently four million active military soldiers in Voopmont, there are also two million six hundred thousand reserve military soldiers.

Voopmont is a very religiously extreme country, a very large percentage of the population are religious, although the government in general tries to stay away from matters of religion. This has led to very dedicated populations of religious people, and mass protests "in the name of god". Theses protests have made the government declare that all people have the right to protest, so they can let them happen in a more controlled way.

In year 672, a Voopmontian colony was established named "Vookadia". The colony was established by Prime Minister Gloria Shimura as a major initiative in her election campaign. This managed to gain her the support of the people for two terms, although she lost to Jonny Hornet in her third election. Vookadia is currently in the United Federations alongside Voopmont, but it has not yet joined the World Assembly.

Recently, Voopmont has turned its entire population into Meta Sorarians, one of the most powerful species in nearly every aspect. They are believed to be so dominant that they would either not survive in a natural environment or almost instantaneously become a space age civilization.

Voopmont runs a similar education system to Japan in the sense that students do six years of elementary school, three years of junior high, and three years of senior high school. After this they have the choice of attending a tertiary education institution for a minimal fee, unless they attend a fully private university[1.]
