The true pain that comes from it is the mental trauma from the events it causes. For example, if anarchy happens we'll be for forced to abandon the moral principles we've gained from society in exchange for survival. I personally have two nice metal bars in my room very useful for hitting people (not that I have don't report me please I beg)

My irl town is around 50,000 of its inhabitants so i could manage to hold out in my house, if Im lucky enough..

I live on a military base, and if worse comes to worse, I can probably steal a bunch of M16s, and live in the mountains or Mexico.

Assuming that you will want to survive. The question is whether altruism is strong enough to combat survival instincts. One can only hope so.

In the game the combination of sheer lack of resources and fear, plus disorganization and poor mobilization of the military, causes the rise of militant groups across the country. These are often badly run and authoritarian. I believe it could turn out that way, if the logistical situation is the same that is.
