GOVERNMENT SHIFTS

By Royal Order of the King, he will be making a realignment of the way government works here. He will soon be appointing a prime minister to be the head of Government.

While the king will have some to moderate authority, it will go mostly ceremonial. This process will occur through the week as this transition to a constitutional monarchy takes place.

"We extend our sincerest condolences to the family of King Jones and the people of Baptized Believers for their tremendous loss today"

"While we stand in solidarity with their tremendous loss, the People of Xovland also extend our well wishes to the new monarch Roscoe Johnson and hope for a long and prosperous reign."

"We hope that Johnson's reign will mark a turning point in the leadership of Baptized Believers, and that it will become a country where people of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome. We hope that King Johnson reforms the Holy Courts to be based upon fair and secular laws which can be respected by all citizens regardless of their religion. We hope that the law requiring mandatory religious observation on Sundays be reformed to take into account religions, such as Judaism or Eastern Christianity, where the sabbath or shabbat is traditionally on Saturdays, or religions like Buddhism, which are usually observed privately."

"More than anything, we hope for a strong, stable bond to grow between our two nations for many years to come."

King Roscoe Johnson speaks

“I have appointed for the first time in this kingdom a Prime Minister to be the head of Government. His name is:

Appointed Prime Minister: Daniel Wallace
Christian, Conservative, Investment Banker
Gender: Male
Religious Affiliation: Non-Denominational
Acquired Control: July 31, 2019

I have done this decision to carry out the vision of the late Great King Joe Jones who wanted to limit his power and give the most power possible to the people of this nation. I believe the person I have chosen will lead this country in the reforms in needs to be greater than ever before.

We as a nation are too biased to Christianity, while I personally believe it’s the best set of beliefs for this nation, we cannot forget that God gives us freewill and we cannot force our religion on others. Prime Minister Wallace will lead the new parliament; that will be elected tomorrow by the people, to set simple reforms.

I personally as King will be reviewing the Holy Court, and lower courts to be sure it is working for the best interests of our nation. We will continue to be the strongest economy, strongest military force, strongest faith, of all nations. Hold on everybody... change is coming, and it’s coming fast.”

HEATED DEBATE

The first step to repealing and replacing the centuries old mandatory church attendance to voluntary church attendance passed with a super majority of 409-241; now headed to the Senate. While that sounds great, it didn’t go down that easy.

There were 106 members of the Labor Party, 130 members of the Conservative Party, and 5 members of the Independent Party who made it as difficult as possible to let this traditional and cultural part of Baptized Believers slip through the cracks with a two-hour house filibuster with 1 member of each of the 3 opposing party’s speaking for 40 minutes as to why this should be opposed.

At some points insults were thrown around between a some overly excitable and enthusiast members of the house which the House Speaker had to have Order called 12 times in 2 hours sessions. However, after a 30 minute recess for members to relax and speak to the press, in the second house 2 hour session, a speech from a younger, charismatic, and well spoken member of the Libertarian Party gave a speech that inspired many of the opposing to end their filibuster though they still voted against.

This passing the bill before lunch at noon.

BREAKING NEWS

An action to repeal and replace Mandatory Church Attendance; long time precedence in Baptized Believers for centuries, with Voluntary Church Attendance signed into law by Prime Minister Daniel Wallace and King Roscoe Johnson.

While this order taking affect immediately, it is still frowned upon by elders and religious leaders for anyone who misses services for no explicit reason, and all businesses are still closed for sabbath. However, no one is forced by law to go to church.

So whatever you all want I just think that of your region merged into us it would be easy as we have similar governments and such. And if you all merged it would be a larger better Democracy than if my region of 21 and your region of 10 kept separate

I think the issue should be brought to Paledonn whenever he comes back active again. So far, it’s looking like a merger is unlikely. But either way cooperation and more activity is important to me. So I’m neutral.

We are absolutely not going to exchange our sovereignty for nothing; however, diplomatic cooperation between our regions would be acceptable.

Western aestorusia wrote:And if you all merged it would be a larger better Democracy than if my region of 21 and your region of 10 kept separate

I don't see any benefits for our 10 nations, on the other hand, your region gains everything. Now, if both of our regions would merge into a brand new region, that would be a different subject.

This region is over five years old, there's just far too much history here to abandon. I wish your region the best, but I don't think we'll be able to accept your offer.

It looks like there could be some type of compromise on this issue... At least based on what Paledonn said about merging into a new region if I’m quoting him correctly?

But consensus already shows that 40-50% of the region is against it.

As I understand Paledonn's post it would seem that you are correct. BUT, who would hold the Founder's account if a new region was founded. It would have to be a shared account in all fairness.

Currently at 40% against.

If we fuse with another region to found a new one, without Paledonn in charge we lose our agency. One hit and the legacy goes down. And we have a history that's worth counting on: I don't know when we'll rise from this slump, but this is the best we have.
