A great loss for those of us who believe in the fight for gender equality and the expansion of civil rights. Without a doubt a great woman. My prayers for her soul and also that her family, the US, and you may soon overcome this loss.

I'm sorry that your girlfriend is also affected. It sucks, honestly. Her fight for justice is something to admire, and all of her accomplishments were truly great.

It happened again tonight and I am genuinely the most scared I have ever been in my life. It was a murderous clown this time. I felt nearly possessed and my chest still pains me. How I manage to sleep ever again after this is beyond me. I am so so scared. Please someone advise me on a drug I can take oh my god.

One thing that definitely helps is evening prayers. Say your prayer rule (Our Father, O Theotokos Rejoice, and Symbol of Faith is a very good start) and make it a habit not to fall asleep before saying your prayers. Every time I don’t pray before sleeping, I sleep poorly, by the way. You can also cross your bed before going to sleep.

Also, that judge is responsible for millions of infants’ deaths, so while we should definitely pray for her soul, she is by no means a role model to look up to. Fyi, saints, both monks and laymen, are the best role models for us.

You need a doctor. Do not seek advice from anonymous accounts on an online forum. Seek professional help if you have not already, there are plenty of sleep doctors out there.

No, she is a role model to look up to. For every one of her cases, including United States v. Virginia, the dissent in Gonzales v. Carhart, Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores. There are more, mostly dissents, that make her a hero to womankind. Her loss truly is tragedy for us right now.

I don’t want to sound flippant or dismissive when I say this because abortion is an important topic but a persons contribution and worth is greater than their view on abortion.

It’s a tragedy so many abortions happen however literally millions more people die from malnutrition and poverty each year than there are abortions. I just wish we focused more on increasing social programs and development aid which would both reduce the number of abortions and people dying from poverty. it saves so many more lives - truly a more pro-life position than just advocating for the criminalisation of abortion?

Pro-life would be whatever protects the most lives overall and be a combination of different things than just a single-issue discussion such as removing the death penalty, protecting refugees, gun control, social programs, access to healthcare etc.

Which country are you in?? We may be able to recommend some good places for you to seek support.

I can recommend Headspace, it’s Australia’s main youth mental health support service - it has great resources and hopefully you can find some of the resources helpful.

I'm not even going to start debating because all of it boils down to one point- today's morals and ideals are upside down.

Russian National Union wrote:I'm not even going to start debating because all of it boils down to one point- today's morals and ideals are upside down.

I feel this, and I see it played out in the news and on the internet all the time. Sometimes it seems like no matter who debates, the point always does boil down to screwy morals, or just a complete lack of ethics altogether. I won't name names because they don't deserve recognition, but I think we can all think of at least one prominent person in our respective societies that has contributed en masse to the problems we see today.

I intended this to be a shorter post, but I feel this problem needs to be addressed: Without God, who is in nature undeniably good and the most just being in the universe, there is no reason, there are no morals, and there are no "basically good" people. We are born with the stain of sin, there is no such thing as an infant with a wholly clean slate. Because of the Fall in the Garden we are all held under the consequences of our own actions. One of those consequences is the negative effect on others. When a society rejects God and basics such as the divinity of Christ, they "drift," as Hebrews puts it, and a domino effect happens, where every wrong decision that is strayed from God and His divine Will has a lasting impact.
We have been given the Scriptures for a reason. We are blessed to live in a time when information can be transported so quickly and easily from place to place. Every person, regardless of religion, needs to understand the base ethics and moral principles on which they base their every action. For Christians, it is the Word. For everyone else, while there may be parallels between the Gospel and other ideologies (I highly recommend Ravi Zacharias' book Jesus Among Other Gods on this kind of topic), they ultimately are drifting away, until God reels them back in to His love.

My point is this: There are a lot of problems in the world. The cause is society's willingness to throw God out of the picture, and try to "invent" his own way out of problems. This has never worked, and will never work in the future. The path of destruction is that of rebellion against the Lord. Rejection of God and His teachings can only lead to chaos, which the Devil strives to stir up at even the slightest opportunity.

Thus endeth my longest public post ever XD

O God, the creator and preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for thy holy Church universal, that it may be so guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate, [especially those for whom our prayers are desired]; that it may please thee to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Why, in the least controversial country in the world, the United States of America, of course, fighting commies and terrorists since 1222. I'll check it out, but meditation hasn't really worked for me before.

The most anyone in the US knows about Melbourne that doesn't work, live, or study there is that it's Sydney without opera lol

I've never heard the Sydney without opera before. I did meet someone from Australia (in Germany, so she was very excited to see someone who spoke English, which was fun) who told me that no one likes Sydney, though.

I'm also entertained to see that you called America the least controversial country. It might even be true, in a negative sense. But the fighting communists just doesn't work anywhere other than within the borders, and there it works too well.

The America one was obviously a joke, I have more knowledge about the wider world, like how Belgium is in South America and the capital of Kazakhstan is Quito. (/s).

Even though that was a joke, it definitely hurt to read. Belgium obviously doesn't exist, as the enlightened citizens of the world would know. :p

But seriously, America isn't really that controversial anymore. Every single German I know agrees that they don't like America as much anymore, if at all.
