The Republic of Stan Island is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its public floggings, state-planned economy, and keen interest in outer space. The humorless, devout population of 6.944 billion Stan Islandians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 56.1%.

The frighteningly efficient Stan Islandian economy, worth 966 trillion Dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Woodchip Exports, and Furniture Restoration. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 139,252 Dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 4.2 times as much as the poorest.

Wildlife near farms is slowly becoming extinct, kilts and cassocks are viewed with suspicion, renewable energy projects have ground to a halt, and drug deals return to the streets as legions of undercover officers stalk the dark web. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Stan Island's national animal is the Stan Crab, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans.

Stan Island is ranked 161,215th in the world and 251st in The grimy backyard of Bigej for Largest Gambling Industry, scoring 255.13 on the Kelly Criterion Productivity Index.
