Interview with GreenWaters: The Independent Newspaper

The interview with Greenwaters was recorded on 12.03.2020

1. How did you got the idea to start your current region and nation?

I came up with doing this as I was passionate about saving our planet and environment and I strongly believe that awareness is the key to reducing it. The more people that are aware of what is happening, the more people will do something about it. This thought about protecting our environment and planet should be built within our societies similar to how it is in the societies of tribal people and indigenous people. I personally think my nations name is pretty cool not going to lie as it represents both worlds - the land that should be green and filled with trees, as well as the oceans that should have millions upon billions of phytoplanktons that produce oxygen as well as all of the amazing wildlife on land and in the sea. This all started out by the strong passion I have for these kinds of things as well as I knew that NS would be the perfect platform to spread this message.

2. Till now how far have you progressed in making people aware about Climate Change?

I personally think that I have come a long way from where I started off and I know for a fact that I have changed people's perceptions about climate change and turned people who were strongly against believing climate change and global warming, into people who support the reduction of non-renewable resources and support a green economy.

3. How or what means have you used to commute your words to the Public?

I have only used the rmb's of the regions that my region/organization of Environmental Protection Council has embassies with and basically just post messages that tell people why they should care and more about environmentalism and how they can make their contribution in the fight to stop/slow down global warming.

4. Do you plan to bring out any General Assembly Proposal regarding Environmental issues?

No, I do not, but I am so happy to see proposals about the environment such as the latest one about our oceans and its environmental safety.

5. Do you feel NationStates is a good platform for spreading your word on Climate Change? Why?

Yes, I strongly feel that NationStates is a good platform to share my messages on Climate Change because everyone who is on this platform is here because they either like politics or want to create their ideal nation and run it. After the Coronavirus, Climate Change should be the second biggest thing that humans should worry about because we have to have a secure future where our next generation doesn't have to worry about the mess we caused as we should be the ones who clean it up. This is what you learn in preschool - clean up your own mess. Yet, most people ignore this basic principle and even though they apply it in their own households such as clean your own bedroom, they don't apply it to the pollution they cause and the recycling they throw away in the garbage. This can all be fixed by throwing things away in the proper bins and by buying electric vehicles when buying a new car instead of gas/diesel ones. People here believe in change and so, they understand what I am trying to get at here. which makes it easier on my end, but also because they can easily share it with others which makes an even greater impact.

6. Do you wish to extend your mission, and introduce some more content like YouTube for your region and message?

I am considering creating a website for my region/organization soon, so I will let you all know once it's been confirmed!

7. Do you think writing issues for NS on topics of Environment can help spread your message to a larger audience ?

Yes, I think that writing issues for NS regarding the environment would greatly help spread my region/organizations message to a larger audience both directly and indirectly. However, to tell you the truth, that may be an issue as I do not know anyone who is an issues editor and I have tried writing them in the past, but unfortunately they don't seem to make the cut.

8. How have people responded to your mission?

Overall, people have responded in a positive manner which I am happy to hear. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me from the bottom of my heart as it really means a lot for me and for the environment especially. However, there are always some negative comments and feedback which I am totally fine with as it is human nature to announce their own opinion and I try to justify my point as respectfully as I can.

9. The last interview, I took with 'Paris Agreement Founder', after a few day he cte. Do you know anything about him, since many nations and regions claim you were working closely with him?

Yes, I was working closely with him as we were partners for some projects. I talked with him the day before he cte and he was acting usual, so I am afraid I know nothing of what happened to him. I really wish he was still here on NS though.

10. Do you have any message for our readers?

My message would be to just take care of the little things that you do everyday such as don't throw away anything in the wrong bins or on the ground if no one is looking as it is every humans responsibility to take care of their environment. It is the little things that we do that makes a big impact. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support and they can for sure expect more posts to come their way!
