Aelyria wrote:Which is fair. If the judges are elected, though, that would still represent enough of a concession to democracy to fit with what I spoke of. (Though I do find it humorous that you are a kritarchy that has abolished the judicial system!)

Yeah, that bit is abit foggy. It depends on the form of Law your system follows, usually in a country, they follow what is called Legislative Law. Whereby the government forms the Laws. Though people often forget the other side, which is Adjudicative Law. This form of Legal system does not form the Law, but serves in a primary role of enforcement of existing laws(usually traditional laws based on cultural values, for example the Somalian system of Xeer, which still exists in some form today), and the role of mediator in matters of judgement, usually through council. This is the form of Law that Kritarchy is built upon. So they are quite libertarian in nature. However.. if a law pertaining to a certain situation doesn't exist, then the Kritarchy would ask the opinion of the folk what they think on the matter, and then ponder which is most suited to the situation before Delegation. So say, if a new country formed, and chose Kritarchy as their form of government, if no formal Legal code existed, or if a particular scenario arises lacking legal precedence, then they would convene to formulate a law for said situation. So in the Legislative legal sense, yes abolishing the Judicial system may be confounding. But if one looks at it from an Adjudicative viewpoint, then it makes sense. As there are no need for lawyers as the folk represent themselves in legal matters, and the Judges mediate, and delegate when needed.

Since I can’t meet my goals for civil rights I’ve decided to become “The Empire of Oriban”. You most likely don’t care, just wanted to bring that message out.

I'm trying to make my country into a secular, socialist but still pious state.

That's a tight needle to thread. I can see some strains of Islam agitating for socialism (in the emphasis on caring for the destitute and unfortunate through acts of religiously inspired charity); but then by definition it will no longer be as secular.

Unless you tailor it to such concepts as "Ramadan and the Hajj teach us to treat the world as family--so my poor neighbors and also my gay family members are also loved and treated with charity and acceptance".

But clearly, you can craft this sort of message for most any of the most prominent faiths.

There's an old saying: "the man who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer." It's very difficult to represent yourself in most legal proceedings--it's important to have an outsider's perspective, a lack of emotional attachment to the events and people. Just as it's difficult to diagnose your own illnesses, for example.

Aelyria Well that's what the Judges are for. Though I personally think it's better that way. A lawyer generally won't care about your problems, and they only work your case because you pay them to(yeah there's pro-bono, but that's not a common thing). The folk have a vested interest in their own problems for obvious reasons, and can voice their side of whatever matter it may be based around. If it's a family dispute, each side can voice their concerns and the Judges mediate, and delegate a solution. If it's a problem of arsonry and the like, then the victim can make their case and have the criminal punished by delegation of the Judges(if other options are not pursued). I find the combination of self-representation legally and the mediation of the Judge council to be both fair and effective.

I like his/her walls of text.

Him, please. I am fortunate to have my biology, residual self-image, and socialization in agreement on that front. I do appreciate the courtesy though!

This is why I chose Ba'athism as the ruling ideology. The secularism central to it allows for religious freedom but also dictates that Islam should not be enforced by the state. To me, this means that Islamic law should not be enforced by the government over the actions of citizens.

If I lived in a dictatorship, I'd probably take drugs too.

Experina wrote:Also heres the edited infomation sourse of my football team...

The dispatch does not contain the location of the stadium and the stadium's name. Is the stadium and location the same as before?

A new development has occurred in the UBFA rules. With a confirmation from Balder the winning team will now not receive the prize of a legendary trading card. We are currently a week out from the end of registration with 22 spots open for the May 2021: UBFA Third Regional Cup! So don't miss out and register now.

See: Rules and Explanations for more information.

Perhaps a more constructive response would have garnered a better reaction. Or you could have just scrolled on by.

I, too, happen to enjoy reading Aelyria's responses; it's great to have someone take the time for a fully constructed opinion.

I’d like to know, does balder have an official map?

Following new legislation in Socialist Arab States, footballers are doing aerobics in the sauna to build their hot weather endurance.

Considering our Union spans the Middle East and North Africa, I don't think our athletes need much training for hot weather endurance.

No idea, it would be cool tho, but also a lot of work lol

Oriban wrote:I’d like to know, does balder have an official map?

Balder does not have an official map accessible here. I am given to understand that there is an effort to compile an official map on the off-NS official regional forum. I'm sure someone there can direct you more precisely than I can.

Yes it is im gonna edit it again

Because my economy is capitalist, I have now started an issue chain in which a nation has asked me to help keep their "commie parasite" enemy neighbours in check. The irony of it being they are asking the -Socialist- Arab States to help protect them against communists.

My economy used to be socialist but then I accidentally privatised beaches and it turned my entire system capitalist again. So doing my best to renationalise the economy.
