I can't seem to get my lifespan or health to not be TERRIBLE for some reason, despite being in the upper percentages for environment, weather, eco-friendly, etc.

My goal is to increase political freedom to the highest degree. Should I allow corruption to occur since the game seems to think it's political freedom, or does higher corruption independently decrease political freedom outside of issues?

The corruption stat and Political Freedom stats are completely unrelated in the way you are speaking. Specific issues will increase your political freedom and so if thats all you want to focus on it other stats won’t be an issue whether they go up or down.
Freedom in this game is very literal. Anything you allow is freedom and anything you restrict is not.

That said, iirc they did finally stop counting something as a civil right... I want to say it was some kinds of crime (IE, prohibiting murder no longer reduces civil rights). I think that's what it was anyway... a fairly recent change, but I know it was one a lot of us had been rumbling for on and off.
Generally speaking though, imagine the most ridiculous American "Libertarian" version of what "freedom" is, and that's probably what the stat measures :-P

Hey, quick question. What are yall's preferred levels of freedom? (side note: it doesn't have to be the one you have, but the one you prefer) Here, I'll start: Mine would be a high amount of personal and political freedoms, but a little on the lower side for economic freedoms.

I try to keep all three moderately high but as I am priorotizing civil and political my economic freedoms are slowly shrinking :/

I would have a high amount of personal, high level on economic and medium level in political
I try to maintain significant (though by no means total) personal and political freedoms, with a heavily regulated (but still capitalist) economy. In particular, I enjoy trying to maintain a powerful economy without compromising my environmental credentials. Presently I maintain better than global top 0.5% in Eco-Friendliness, Environmental Beauty, and Weather, while still managing a global top 3% economy. I suppose one could say that it is my unwritten goal to continue to improve all of those.
