I had a couple grey hairs in high school. I was way too stressed back then, looking back.
Ah yes, the two types of centrists: people who support the compromise position on everything, and people who support ridiculous policies on any part of the political spectrum.
Rhina, Wintermoot II, and Aragonn
The insane nonsense policies all balance themselves out. Thus inoffensive, centrist democracy. xD
Happy holidays to everyone in New Hyperion, the kinda OG region of many of my dearest friends. ^.^
Belated happy new year!
(Or an extremely early happy lunar new year I suppose :P we're also quite close to the orthodox new year too)
Wintermoot II and Aragonn
So many new years! ^-^
Wait till you find out how many new years exist within India
Wait till you find out how many new years Mercury gets.
Maybe I should put all these on Wintreath's calendar. We could celebrate New Years regularly. :P
It's too damn quiet in here!
Let's change that. Hi. :P
What's new with you?
Doing pretty well. Enjoying some VTuber drama. Playing some old af video games from my youth. Overall it's a good time.
VTuber drama? I try to stay away from online drama these days...maybe cause I got more than enough of it on NS.
What kind of old games? This year I'm trying to actually finish games, so I've been playing My Time at Portia on and off for the last month. It's kind of like Stardew Valley, but 3D. I like it because it has so many NPCs, character quests, and events. Compared to that Stardew Valley feels kinda lonely to me...but it does have Shane lol.
Older games like Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3, and Warlords Battlecry 3. The latter has an overhaul mod called The Protectors that recently released on Steam, which I'm really enjoying.
I once had Starfleet Command 2...I liked the idea, but never got far in the game because it was so complex. I read they simplified the gameplay for 3 and it was much more popular, but for some reason I never got it.
When it comes to sci-fi games, my goal this year is to finish a Stellaris game successfully (not being destroyed by a late-game crisis). I've put in over 500 hours on that game and have never actually finished it. xD
I've put in half the time, and I eat late game crisis factions for fun. I need to teach you how to build a navy.
I look forward to your teaching, Senpai. ^-^
I usually play as what I think Wintreath would be if it were a galactic empire...fox people who are xenophile and fanatic pacifist. And then I like claiming every system possible before anyone else can...
Yeah, that pacifist part is part of the problem. What you want to do instead is go for a diplomatic victory. Focus diplomacy, politics, and trade, and send envoys to all your neighbors. Get them to enter defense pacts with you and then form a big federation. The AI factions will defend you when the crisis comes around. You'll still want your own navy, but you don't have to be the strongest.
This doesn't strike me as how you probably play...Ara the soldier-diplomat? :P
It probably doesn't help that I don't know how trade or federations actually work...I kinda end up accepting offers as they come along. :D Guess that's where I can start learning, eh?
Greetings from the region of Warhammer 40000!
What is on your hobby desk?
Vote in out new poll: page=poll/p=210450
You're right, it's not how I play. I play a warlord. If I see someone who's rear I can whoop, I'm gonna whoop it. I focus military and economy researches and focus supremacy and domination.
I don't play Stellaris a ton, but I do play EU4 and used to play CK2 quite a bit. Never been the type to paint the map. I usually only target territory I need, such as for certain resources or an assigned mission. The rest of the time I prefer to develop my country and expand my influence through other means, such as constructing infrastructure and investing into trade. That doesn't mean I never blob out, of course, but I won't do it "just because."
I've always favored hegemony over empire in these sorts of games. The best control is the control you can make others place upon themselves. >:)
The Stellaris AI nations will all make friends with each other and form a super federation if you don't take them down. They'll make whatever part of the galaxy you don't own and turn it into a powerhouse of a hug box.
So what you're saying is that you...look for and then dominate rears. xD
What I've seen happen in most games I play is that one or two nations come to dominate all the others around them through wars and then fall to whatever mid or late game crisis, usually the Khanate when it arises. I haven't played a game since last summer, so it might have changed, but maybe the Stellaris AI is just responding to your warmongering with love lol.
I didn't even know hobby desks were a thing until this! What a fascinating idea...
Now I want one ^-^
You could try starting out with a simple portable hobby station, then your kitchen table becomes a hobby desk.
