Daka Shapur, the capital of Bladias, has reported its first case in the fledgling nation.

Of altonianic islands and Osajia

Exit polls in the nation show a neck and neck race between bin Hassan and bin Akbar, both at 44% and 45.5% respectively. al-Rashid is at 9.5%, a very disappointing and career ending loss for him. Meanwhile, the remaining 1% are write-ins, almost all of which are for al Majid. Unless something drastic happens in the next six hours, there will be a runoff in four days.

I would like to propose a constitutional amendment as follows;

The People of the Empire;

Recognizing that we have just left an irregular era in our electoral history,

Believing that regular election cycles are necessary in order to maintain the stability of the Empire,

Hereby

Adds an amendment to the Constitution that goes as follows;

"Elections for the position of Prime Minister shall follow in an orderly and succinct fashion, to be held once every three weeks via a poll. This election shall be reserved only for World Assembly members, unless there are non-WA members who have been unequivocally proven to not be puppets.

I'll get that poll going.

bin Akbar has surged in the polls with the counting of the votes in Dhabi-Sultoon, which he won by 70+ percent, getting 82 percent to bin Hassan's 8.9 percent, with al-Rashid getting 8.7% percent. This has caused a radical realignment in the race, with bin Akbar now at 50.3% to bin Hassan's 38.6%. al-Rashid has gained significantly as well, and is currently at 10.8%. al Majid, the leader of the ruling communist party has finished a distant fourth, given that he dropped out in the days before the election. He is polling at 0.3%. This election might very well cause the end of communist rule in Osajia, however, in the Osajian National Senate elections, the communist party is doing far better, losing only 97 of 198 seats. This leaves the government with no party having a clear majority of the 270 seat Senate. However, bin Akbar's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won 39 seats, bringing them to a huge 91 seats. Already the DPP is preparing a coalition government with the Osajian Communist Party (OCP), and Osajia is expected to remain a socialist country.

OOC; Much as I appreciate RPing with you, please do NOT try and screw over this election victory. This is me trying to have this nation become a democracy in the RP universe. That said, let's still continue with this thread, but please try to make it not too crazy.

The Osajian Electoral Department has stated that the Edmundian allegations are, simply put, only allegations. The Islandsian officials helping officiate the election have also reported no inconsistencies. However, al-Rashid has stated that he believes that there was a conspiracy against him and his, to put it lightly, Trumpist philosophies. However, all evidence points to that being false, with conservative parties gaining considerable ground against the avowedly far left coalition government. There appears to be some minor inconsistencies in the Noresulta-Osagin Sector, the sector that contains the capital of Dhabi-Sultoon. These inconsistencies might explain how bin Akbar carried the sector by 73.1%.

Of altonianic islands and Great Edmundia

The final results are in; bin Akbar is the new leader of Osajia. He has immediately begun the transition to democracy. He won with 51.2% to bin Hassan's 37.9% and al-Rashid's 9.8. 1.1% of the vote was write-in, with 97% of those votes going to al Majid.

In other news, it has been confirmed that the former Sultan did die from complications stemming from coronavirus. Today also marks the 25000 case mark in Osajia, with 2100 deaths, in a shocking 8+% death rate.

(Sorry if I butted in lol)

The IBI has released more information concerning its investigation today. Federal agents have arrested 4 individuals in Northern Great Edmundia who have been charged with attempting to spread fake news, misinformation and rumours surrounding the election online to try and bolster support for the ruling Communist Party. With the results in, it seems like their campaign to keep the ruling party in power has failed. Their clandestine 'alternate fact and meme production factory' has also been shut down by the authorities.

The Osajia Electoral Department has reached a similar conclusion; however, the main culprits were not Edmundian, but Nea Athenian, aiming to subvert the election towards the DPP. Their plot seems to have succeeded, but bin Hassan is showing no desire for a redo of the election. The IBI might wish to interview him on this matter. Already, bin Akbar is denying any direct involvement in the plot, and has, using his new powers as Sultan, embargoed the country for an indefinite period of time.

In just 24 hours, coronavirus cases in Osajia have gone from ~25000 to over 40000. Now that Osajia has a clear leader, the Sultan has immediately placed the entire country under mandatory quarantine, but analysts fear it is already far too late.

After the current poll is over, I would like to orchestrate a poll about whether or not we should stay in the Alliance of Empires. I personally think we shouldn't, but it's up to the people. The entire organization seems to be collapsing, but perhaps we want to fix the broken alliance? I dunno, we'll leave it for a poll.

BTW, I've decided on my leader's name; Chancellor Belle Fitzgerald Gerhan, or BFG for short.

Good day everybody!

The IBI would send a team over to Osajia to investigate further, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the Bureau has decided to put the safety of its agents first and place the investigation on hold until after the outbreak...

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

Cases in Sable Ferret City now number almost a thousand, and fifty people in the city have died. Citizens have reported running out of essential supplies as they fear leaving their homes, even to go to the store for groceries.

There are now 50 cases in Gladesopolis. In response, the Gladesopolis City Council has ordered the immediate shutdown of the city. All public transport has been suspended, all schools have been shut and all mass gatherings of more than 100 people have been banned. The Imperial Government has also told bureaucrats to work from home to limit the spread of the virus. National Guard troops have also been called in to assist. Medical experts fear that it may already be too late to contain the virus in Great Edmundia.

Elsewhere in Great Edmundia, fear has gripped the public. All over the nation, a wave of panic-buying has left supermarket shelves stripped of goods such as hand sanitiser, soap, wet wipes, rice, noodles, pasta, canned goods and toilet paper. The Federal Government has urged calm, with Prime Minister Nagel Pallet stating in a press conference that 'prepping' simply took supplies away from the hands of the most vulnerable. However, it seems that the citizenry has not paid attention thus far.

Today has also seen yet another freefall in Edmundian financial markets, with both the SFCX and the GSE recording record losses.

The Osajian economy, still recovering from the recent economic depression, has also been hit quite hard, losing 2.7 percent on the Krugman Greenspan Business Outlook Index.

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

Panic buying has swept through the whole of Great Edmundia. In central Rydesville, Rydesville Police Department officers were called to a Graldi Metro store to break up a violent scuffle between several women who had been fighting over toilet paper. Officers made several arrests, and the Chief of Police has urged for calm, saying that “violence does not help anybody”.

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The number of cases in Great Edmundia has spiked today, with cases in Sable Ferret City reaching almost 2000. Medical services in the city are reaching breaking point, and in response local government has introduced harsh new measures, ordering people to remain at home indefinitely. National Guard troops are now patrolling city streets along with SFPD officers to ensure residents are compliant with the new measures.

In Apple Grove, a wedding reception has resulted in 35 new cases. The reception, dubbed the "wedding from Hell" by the local media, included guests who had travelled into Great Edmundia from the Altonianic Islands. Health authorities are currently testing venue staff for Covid-19.
