I was speaking of evil Halloween witches. There are "good" witches. And witches practice the wiccan faith. I don't know too much about it. In my youth I thought I might like to seriously look into it, but the prospect of dancing naked around the fire pit in the woods did not particularly appeal to me.
A relative of mine was invited on a date to attend a wedding, which she didn't know at the time was wiccan. It took place in the woods.

We should have a poll on the best vampire movie. Years ago there was a three part series running 6 hours doing the "Dracula" novel. I've read Dracula many times and this was the absolute closest to the book. Louis Jordan played Dracula. They still play it sometimes, but it's been condensed into 4 hours and it loses something.
Two of the most interesting other-than-Dracula movies: "The Curse of the Undead", where the vampire was a gunslinger in the old west, and one whose title escapes me, but the vampire was in 1960's California. And--of course--the best by far: "The Lost Boys."

The movie was called "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" or something like that. I never saw it, but I'd like to.
As far as zombie movies go, there were a couple from the 1940's that were hokey, but classics.
Scariest movie with no visible violence and no seen creature? "Cat People." I saw it on TV as a kid, and the scene in the pool still gives me the chills.

I once watched a direct-to-video animated Scooby Doo movie with cat zombies. It probably wasn't all that scary, but my mind warped it into something worse. That night, I dreamt of a crossover between the Magic School Bus and that Scooby Doo movie. Ms. Frizzle turned into a cat zombie, Keesha said "What are we gonna do?!", and I was powerless to stop it all.
The lesson? Sometimes the imagination can conjure up things scarier than any movie.
