Welcome to new nations Awhala and North haverlin!

Making the WA Delegate position non-executive for now as this is intended to be an elected position. Not sure we have quite enough members yet to consider holding elections, though I am open to comments on this.

I'm currently testing Communique, which is a tool by Imperium Anglorum. This tool is a downloadable Java executable. I think it may only work on my home laptop and not necessarily elsewhere (e.g. at work).

Another option would be nstg-web, which ought to be able to send recruiting telegrams when open in a browser tab. nstg-web was developed by Auralia who's very much a staunch Catholic and, for example, role-plays the World Assembly as if he's found a way to avoid letting same-sex couples get married (required under General Assembly Resolution 35, Charter of Civil Rights). Should that matter to us?

If a "staunch" Catholic has done something technologically sound there's no reason not to use it.

I had a nation once called Gay Catholic that tried over years to enrage with the sanctimonious bossy boots who are professional Catholics. You can't get anywhere with them. No point trying.

Just do better with elections than the Americans do. :P

RIP Skullkiss, former founder of Lesbian.

There are only so many meaningful tasks to go around. In a new, smallish region, appointments by agreement are more sensible.

Yes, welcome!

Are you by any chance carrying a large disc-shaped world on the back of four elephants?

This is a Terry Pratchett quote I like ...

If cats looked like frogs we'd realise what nasty, cruel bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.

P.S. I love cats.

Heh, you aren't the first to ask.

You're probably mistaking me for my cousin.

We see NationStates will be having its annual NuclearWar. We'll be providing shelter in the embassy basement. Muffins and mimosas, as well as other party food will be available. Feel free to wear a costume.

Sign me up! Offer mimosas and I'll do anything.

It kicks off at 10pm UK time tomorrow night - I may be on for a bit, but probably won't be doing a lot. Gay will probably set up a faction if you want to join forces.

I stay well out of it.

Interesting article about the 1968 musical Hair and the end of censorship (including of gay content) in theatre.

Hair: The musical that 'changed theatre forever'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-45625785

Prior to the autumn of 1968, any reference to homosexuality, bisexuality and nude performances would have been considered too outrageous to be shown on a British stage.

Even something as seemingly harmless as a reference to Walt Whitman's poetry collection, Leaves of Grass, in John Osborne's play Personal Enemy, was banned because it was seen as a codified reference to homosexuality.

But as the Lord Chamberlain's powers of censorship - which dated back to 1737 - came to an end, the cast of Hair began preparing for its opening night.

Would you like to write up something for LGBT University to answer the question of where to find resources about transgender people?

Article about the decline of the gay leather scene in London

Why is the gay leather scene dying?
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/oct/04/why-is-gay-leather-scene-dying

A string of closures has caused concern for those interested in a variety of fetishes, but the leather scene seems to have been hardest hit, particularly in London. Bars such as the Coleherne, the Anvil, Bloc, Substation and, most recently, the Hoist, have all disappeared into the annals of gay history, replaced with gastropubs, luxe apartments and identikit offices. Rising rents, competitor fetishes and competition from online dating apps have all been a turn of the screw. Aficionados fear its decline is another milestone in the gay scene’s slow descent into homogeneity.

Leather Scene. I remember going into a bar in my late teens where everyone was dressed in motorcycle gear. I said to my boyfriend of the time, 'I didn't notice any motorcycles out front, I wonder where they park them?' The boyfriend laughed and told me they don't have motorcycles. They just like dressing up.

Greetings from Cardiff! Things are a bit quiet at the moment as NS is difficult to access at work and I have a major issue with work that I’m dealing with right now. Hope all is well with everyone. Went on a glider flight today :)
