The young woman ruling over the country stared beyond the threshold of her window; she was, once again, away from her home at the Rynese Empire, with her lover and her wife, her dear Tiara, the Empress of the Rynese, and she hated being here without her. She could no longer bear it here unless she was here with Paulina, her adopted daughter, and unless she kept in touch with Tiara.
The queen sighed as she stood up, walked out of her bedroom, and into the living room. There, she took the phone from the coffee table in the middle of the living room and called for Paulina, who was visiting a friend. Ten minutes later, the daughter returned and, with shock in her voice, spoke to her: "You are ABDICATING? Now?!"
"Yes," the queen told her daughter, as she shook in surprise and stayed where she was as she found herself at the doorway after departing from her car.
"But," the daughter sputtered, hands reaching up to make frantic gestures, "but at such a sudden thought?"
"No," the queen told her, shaking her head, "it isn't a sudden thought; I have though of it for so long. I cannot do my part over this country any longer. I must give my crown away to you."
"To me?" Paulina repeated like a terribly pranked school girl, "Are you serious, mother?! To me?!"
"Yes."
A long silence was born. The two stared at each other; Natalia was quite calm but Paulina was still in some shock. Over time, Paulina shook her head and sighed at her mother before she nodded and said, "Very well, mother. I....will make the preparations. You will do you part?"
"Yes," she said with a loving smile, one marked by the tension of having to give up her throne, "I will do my part, my love."
