I shall make my stand here, and now.

Just to clarify, I have forty puppets active for N-day (at least until a good number of them got massacred by Canopy and UPPERCUTS), and I can’t have commitments to any more than 5 factions.

So, I decided to forgo being a part of Hunter Wolf because of its small size, and the assumption that most if not all of its potential members are North Americans. So, I looked beyond for a faction to join.

Aaraksburg joined Canopy because of the fact that I have been a member of Canopy since last year, and I have friends there to whom I have pledged to support with any additional puppets I could spare. While Canopy’s defensive stance is actually fun 99% of the time, however, as one can expect, the monotone of shooting down missiles and attacking only certain enemies on certain times was too much, which I would usually overcome by dumping nukes into a minor faction, this year, I saw that HW was already reduced to four members, and wanted to deny another major faction from claiming the points for themselves.

Thus, I decided to attack HW (a decision made easier since everyone I truly respected was gone by then) with the intention of snatching 400 or so points for Canopy. Wrongly assuming that the four nations were offline, I decided that I could take my time, and decided to chip away at the nations when I had the time. However, someone saw my intrusions, and targeted me in retaliation.

At that moment, I was willing to back down since I was not ready to wipe out the faction in one fell swoop, even when I could easily whittle down HW’s defences while I sat behind Canopy’s invincible cover. And back down I did, both to avoid a fair fight that would harm Canopy more than benefit it, and because I couldn’t spare the time or effort to organise my other puppets.

Perhaps, had I not noticed the launches and the shields expended in my defence, I would be happy to forget about HW and return to the normal targets that tend to get snatched up. However, the launches were made, prompting me to dump enough resources required to ensure that the matter was settled then and there.

I went on the offensive, hitting the active nations to prevent an immediate response, before moving to the nation with full production, and then destroying the faction as a whole.

Was it wrong for me to wait until I was sure that HW was doomed before playing with the nations that survived instead of performing a swift coup de grace? Yes. However, was it a sign of ill-will towards TWC as a whole? No.

Was I an opportunistic bastard who backs down when the inactive people actually has an active person? Yes. But was attacking asleep factions frowned upon? No, in fact, N-day veterans would fully expect to be nuked while they were asleep.

HW was doomed the before it was reduced to four nations. I merely refused to allow someone else get free score.
