They enter accompanied by the assistant who carries a platter with a jar of water and two glasses. Both Presidents sit down in two comfortable armchair, almost facing eachother with a small table between them. After placing the platter down on the table, the assistant bows his head slightly and excuses himself from the office, closing the door as he leaves.

Ilario: Before we begin let me say to you that I was very much surprised by this sudden shift of attitude you have taken towards my country. But I really appreciate the gesture, and I am sure all Furstians do too.
