Battle of Meteti Part 2

These demons just wouldnt stay dead, or they did but more just filled the gap of their predecessors. We had already lost Meteti terminal defence line and had to withdraw. Our defence perimeter was getting smaller and smaller and what made things worse was the Titan was only 5 minutes out by reports. In addition High Fist Bootkick was killed in the withdrawal. As such it was back on my shoulders to try and ensure a favourable outcome for the remnants of the 5th Legion. Still the Talons had proved useful taking out 7 minor witches and probably taking out five or six groups of demons on their own.

It was then that i felt the ground shake and could hear the onrush of demons approaching "Guards of The Empire, hold firm, do not buckle if we can hold them in their initial charge then they will know we can hold them at the next!" i shouted. Not sure if any of them had heard my words.

The Demons charge was like being hit by a truck, we had anticipated this would happen and upon the Fist words the front line fellback to the recovery position where the second line was waiting ready behind a long Jersey wall which had been readied between streets in anticipation of this charge. We knew we wouldn't have long to reach that safety and we knew that it was unlikely to last long but it should hopefully cause the demons to slow their advance down a bit.

"its time, we dont need to face the witch directly, its time to cast your thoughts throw your Tae Yi̥nishi. Trust yourself and trust your powers it will find the target we need. Once battle is commenced you know what to do." High Mage Folas said calmly. I wish i had his composure. We had stationed ourselves near Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día where we were close enough to the battle for us to be able to sense the Hell's Coven Witch and her other Witches but far enough from the front to ensure our safety for a little bit at any rate. I followed the other mages example and closed my mind out and cast my thoughts into Tae Yi̥nishi.

As i the High Mage predicted it was like our consciousness was drawn to the witches darkness, to her aliennes. As soon as i got close i could see the Witches had encased their spiritual selves inside of a dark bubble. I could see the mages throwing themselves at it, i could sense High Mage Hybald, he was a beacon of life magic. His power was amazing but something about it was different from High Mage Folas. Folas knew how to hide his power and show only what needed to be shown whereas Hybald seemed to feel the need to show everything.

I watched in horror as the witches sense a beam of what can only be described as demonic power at him and watched as it destroyed his defences and his spirit was no longer there. I knew his body was no longer alive back where the rest of us where. However, despite the loss of Hybaid it was the opening that Folas needed, instantly he he sent a wave of power at the Witches that when it hit them they instantly died. I noticed as the witches died the defences around the Hell's Coven Witch seemed to weaken fractionally. I threw myself at it, and felt its resistance but i was determinant, and thought Elai God of Light lend me your strength. Instantly i felt like my powers had increased by a factor of 10 and i plunged throw the defences and was able to attack the Hell Coven Witch directly. Despite her attempt at retreat it didnt work and my attacked struck true, like a knife into someone hart, then it was over. I was kneeling on the floor gasping.

"You did well Eluric" The High Mage said smiling. He then offered his hand which i took and he helped me up.

Something was happening to the demon lines, they were crumbling not just trying to fight us, but fight an enemy that was attacking from the rear, which could only mean that Hethor Battalion had engaged the enemy, but also the demons seemed to be attacking the Titan, which made no sense unless the Mages plan had worked. Though for some reason that seemed almost impossible. Yet the demon lines were crumbling.
