Region: New Democratic Union

Inland Expansion

July 21st, 1971

The Northern Republic of Nivesia had set its sight since its independence for an expansion further inland of the Canadian territory; particularly the southern part region of Quebec and Ontario. The climate of these regions are deemed to be more suitable for Nivesian settlements and agricultural facilities to supply the rising demands in the whole country. The ruling party of Nivesia, the NSDP (Nivesian Social-Democratic Party) proposed the use of referendum instead of military forces to annex these two region. A vote was held and the majority voted to not use military forces, with a ratio of 3:2. As such, the Nivesian government had decided to give a referendum for the two corresponding states to join the northern republic or not for the next 5 (five) calendar days.

The two region finally accepted the referendum and decided to join the Norther Republic of Nivesia. However, the northern area of the two regions are yet to be annexed as there are only few human presence, if none, due to the harsh climate conditions. The expansion to the subarctic area have been added to the plan, but is not urgent and will be kept aside from the national priority for a while. Currently, national sustainability and the economy has been top priority. The Nivesian government has planned to expand its borders to other temperate regions of the Canadian territory in the near future.
