After months of harsh political battle a new parliament is finally assembled. In a joined session of the entire Estate-Assembly the King Timulon III will open this session of parliament.

The King arrived at the parliament building at around 10.00 o'clock. This year the King arrived at parliament with his eldest Daughter The Royal Princess Kathelion. In comparison to previous years where the Queen would accompany him. This is not the case this year because the Queen is still in recovery from a hip operation last month. So this year the Heir apparent will join him. But as every year they still arrive with the royal carriage at the parliament building.
The joined session will take place as is tradition in the Chamber of Representatives. Fun sidenote is the reasoning behind this tradition is, that when the first opening of parliament took place when the Chamber of Senate was still in construction so they had to convene in the Chamber of Representatives and this stayed in the next years.
During the speech of His Majesty he spoke about the plans of the new Cabinet for this year. After the speech the KIng and The Princess left the Parliament building and returned to the Cape Town Palace. At the Palace the King and the Princess this time with her husband returned to the steps of the Cape Town Palace and waved to the crowd on Freedom Park.

It is now expected that in the coming days the General Discussions about the budget will begin, reporting on this will of course follow in the coming days.
