I think the US is a very diverse country, so pigeonholeing just one idea would not be the right thing to do. But in general I see it as an open country with great opportunities to grow, but very politicized, polarized, patriotic and sometimes violent (no offense).

And those who live in the USA, what do they think about Latin America?
