I think it's fine. The prolonged nature of s2 meant that people were able to stockpile massive amounts of bank. Large bids like that also lose large amounts of bank from the game, which is good. It'll calm down after a few days when people are no longer rushing to be the first person to collect all the s3 legendaries.
