That's right, I had forgotten about that, but a victory it's a victory

Racism in the US is so advanced that a political party convinced a race to exterminate themselves by voting for them lol.

Capitalism's face and success depends on which culture it is in..

It's been many times i wrote the reiteration of this, The debate on capitalism vs any other economic thought is too often it feels like dejavu :v

Argentina is in this situation exactly because these policies to "help the most people" got out of control, and you want to insist on the mistake over and over again? That's called "insanity". I hope Milei finally destroys this populist disease called peronism

Milei can't destroy Peronism because it's the best governement system, the actual situation it's a consecuence of some of the worst presidents of argentinian history, the neoliberal governements of Menem, Macri and the last Military Dictatorship

Union of Soviet & Asian Socialist Republics

Moscow, 20-03-2024

Official Statement

From the Ministry of War and Soviet Proletariat Expansion, headed by Luksz VånRijk, we inform that starting on 03-21-2024, we will launch an invasion of Geermany, with our troops hitting Berlin. Unfortunately we wanted the path of dialogue, but German exploitative neoliberalism decided on the path of blood and war. Until Berlin is Soviet, we won't stop. Soviet Union. President Xi Jing Ping.

Ever since the dictatorship ended in the 80's, 8 out 12 Argentinian presidents were peronists, but somehow just Menem and Macri were enough to obliterate the country's economy? Man, I just... Don't know what to tell you...

Menem governed during the entire 1990s decade, and Macri's president of the Central Bank (and current Minister of Economy) put us in debt to a 100 years. And more, Menem, even as a member of the PJ, implemented a liberal agenda which ended in the 2001 crisis, the worst in modern history. And even more, after the 2001 crisis, there were 11 days with 5 presidents, 4 of them were peronists, but, except from the last one, all of them governed from less than 2 weeks, and the main president from 2001, De La Rua, was a menemist, so really, 4 out of 9

Don't act like peronists care about debt. And it's not like the corruption, interventionism, instability, and the insane fiscal irresponsibility inherent to peronism worsened the crisis even further, right?

If you want corruption in this country, there's not a better way to do it than liberal governements. Example? The ferrari a bussinesman gifted Menem to get the concession of a highway

Corruption happens regardless of ideology or economic system, but it's always worse when a government is huge and has substantial control over socioeconomic issues, as that creates a dangerously powerful elite of politicians and bureaucrats who only care about their power and benefits

Circulationem Pecunia wrote:Corruption happens regardless of ideology or economic system, but it's always worse when a government is huge and has substantial control over socioeconomic issues, as that creates a dangerously powerful elite of politicians and bureaucrats who only care about their power and benefits

On the contrary, corruption becomes a normal thing when bussinessman have almost no regulations, so they compete for having concessions for railroas, highways, hospitals, etc, and which is the fastest way to get that? Corruption

My argument still stands

Circulationem Pecunia wrote:My argument still stands

No, you said there's more corruption when theres more governement regulations

Well, all those concessions for railroads, highways and hospitals are given by the government through regulations... So, more regulations = more opportunities for corruption

And it's true

Ancapia wrote:Well, all those concessions for railroads, highways and hospitals are given by the government through regulations... So, more regulations = more opportunities for corruption

No, state can just build it's own things

Circulationem Pecunia wrote:And it's true

No, because precisely what causes corruption is bussinesman's impunity

Belovia wrote:No, state can just build it's own things

The taxpayers would still need to pay for it, wouldn't the corruption be even worse if you let the government monopolize projects without any competition?

Eurasia Atlantic Corporation wrote:The taxpayers would still need to pay for it, wouldn't the corruption be even worse if you let the government monopolize projects without any competition?

I don't care if the state monopolizes projects if that projects have quality and really help the population, and if it's necesary to be competition that competition must be regulated, an example of concessions by the state to privates going wrong is the Once tragedy

Edit: I know I'm maybe sounding anticapitalist, so I repeat, I'm capitalist, but without strict governement regulation, it's not only pointless, it's also dangerous

Markanite Yeets Lenlyvit Under the Bus
Sick Vermonter Saddled With Extra Work While Big Boss Retires to Tropical Paradise

Chief Executive Markanite, in a stunning abuse of power, has taken it upon himself to force Lenlyvit to take up his entire portfolio as Chief Executive. Lenlyvit’s additional responsibilities come just as he begins recovering from a severe cold while trapped in the frozen wilderness of Vermont. In the meantime, Markanite will be retiring to the balmy frontier A Taco Paradise, removing Lenlyvit from the coveted post and evicting him from the Governor’s Mansion there.

Markanite has attempted to justify this astounding act of open corruption by citing the Constitution of 10,000 Islands, which reads “The Chief Executive authority of 10000 Islands shall be vested in the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive shall hold Office for life, and shall be responsible for the conferral of the Chief Executive’s authority to a successor of the Chief Executive’s sole choosing.” Markanite has creatively interpreted this passage to mean that he, as Chief Executive, has the power to name his successor, and that his successor will take the Chief Executive post as Markanite steps down..

Taco Island lawyers we spoke to were inclined to disagree. One, under the condition of anonymity said, “I’ll say anything you want me to if you give me enough Tacos. So, no, Markanite clearly doesn’t have the authority to do . . . whatever you just said. Now I’ll take three soft tacos, one beef, one veggie, and one fish, with salsa and sour cream.” Some people have said that Lenlyvit has been pressured by Markanite’s supporters through encouragement, high-five emojis, well-wishing, and generally being solicitous and helpful. Are these offers genuine? Or a clear and unconscionable act of manipulation on the part of Markanite’s duplicitous and hypocritical followers? Only time will tell.

In all seriousness, Markanite has stepped down from his role as Chief Executive. His Successor, Lenlyvit, will take his place while Markanite takes the lead at A Taco Paradise. Markanite’s full statement is available on the 10,000 Islands Proboards forum Linkhere. Please join me in thanking Markanite for his long service to the Islands and in welcoming our new Chief Executive Lenlyvit.

Election Fever Hits Islands

In the wake of Markanite’s departure to A Taco Paradise and Lenlyvit’s succession there are now three Senate seats up for election this month, as well as the Delegacy. Astrobolt, AxeCapital, and Keswickholt have all announced their intention to defend their positions, However, there is a race for the empty New Republica South seat between Wazeww and The World Defense Organization. Both are newcomers to the political scene at XKI and both appear to have grand plans to revitalize debate culture in the Islands. Read more about it in The Breaking Wave - Election Edition!

News from Around the Islands

Music March Madness

Cultural Officer Aquachromia, hired just last month, has been hard at work hosting several events for Islanders. This month they are putting on a month-long Music March Madness event featuring games, music-themed movies, and a music submission contest with generous Taco rewards provided through the Ministry of Culture. We had a chance to “sit down” with Aquachromia on Discord to ask a few questions. The following transcript has been edited for clarity and to avoid shaming our keyboarding instructors:

Pantso: Hey, I'm starting to work on the next issue of the Wave and I'm planning on doing a bit about the recent cultural events and the Music March Madness event. Do you mind answering a few questions for the article?
Acquachromia: Sure!
Pantso: Great! What inspired you to take on the role of cultural officer?
Acquachromia: I noticed how my friend Venvee Republic had his own job in the 10,000 Islands, so I wanted to involve myself too and become active in the community!
Pantso: Are you friends outside NationStates? Did the two of you join together, or did one of you recruit the other?
Acquachromia: We're friends outside Nation States, I introduced Venvee to NS about 2 or 3 years ago I believe.
Pantso: And then they got a job, and you got jealous about all their great Tacos, and you decided to get one too 🙂
Acquachromia: lol, nah just wanted to be involved
Pantso: So far you've hosted a movie night where we saw Migration, and a flag contest, and now we're entering the Music March Madness where there will be an event every weekend. What other kinds of events are you considering?
Acquachromia: We'll have a gaming night, and a photo contest, not sure what else after March!
Pantso: What, if any, would you say is your overall goal or mission as Cultural Officer? (I will double check the actual title; I can never remember) (Editor’s Note: It is Cultural Officer; the Cultural Office Assistant role was retired)
Acquachromia: I think there's assistant in that title
I think my goal is to make the community of 10,000 Islands more connected, and allow XKI to become an even more friendly and welcoming place!
Pantso: That sounds great! Seems like you're off to a great start, with an event planned every weekend for six weeks running so far. You've set quite a pace for yourself.
Is there anything else you'd like to say for the article? It will be sent out to Islanders, Paradisers, and our friends and allies in other regions.
Acquachromia: If there's anything you can learn from me it's get involved! You never know what you could find if you involve yourself in your regions, or really anything in life!

Green Sky Terror at A Taco Archipelago

The War on Terror continues, with the anti-terrorist factions recruiting more nations into the fight and gradually pushing back on the terrorist organizations. Al-Caeda in particular has lost a great deal of territory to Macrasetia’s Anti-Terrorist Coalition of Defense while ACOD’s newer members claim the recaptured land for themselves.

In the meantime, New Sahulland, Chair Co, South Adria, and Pantso have been working to protect the monarchy in New Sahulland after an unsuccessful assassination attempt.

Nations in 10000 Islands or A Taco Paradise interested in joining the conflict should check out these dispatches about the Green Sky Terror event and RP on A Taco Archipelago. Hope to see you there!

Goodest Boy/Bestest Girl

This new segment of The Breaking Wave will feature the beloved pets of the 10000 Islands and A Taco Paradise. This month features [nation]Newlandiquia[/region]’s Pinscher “Doguinho”, or “Dogue” for short. Dogue enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, lifting his rear up to the sun, and has an April Fool’s birthday. The five-year old pupper was picked up from a farm and, while a photo was unavailable, we can’t help but imagine an adorable Pinscher frolicking in a sunny field with his best girlfriend.

Burdensome trust/anti-trust regulations are the incentive and catalyst for business corruption, and as you describe them are also anti-competition (monopolies), opening the doors for government corruption ala mafioso.

People will use it, if they don't like it, they protest and it gets fixed.

No, because bussinesmans will want more and more power so that opens a gameshow called "Who bribes the most?" in which the guy who pays more gets the governement to interfere with his competitor
