Following the declaration of war against J o J by the Raxulan Empire, the Prime Minister took necessary, swift action, and followed the Raxulan Empire into battle against the viciously e v i l forces of J o J! While no military actions have already taken place, several are planned. This war is shaping up to be among the longest wars in both Raxulan and Edmundian history, with battle estimates planned into months, not weeks or days. It will likely be a "slow burn" war, with very little actual action, and mainly diplomatic maneuvering, with occasional shows of force. This has necessitated the reevaluation of the embassy we currently have with The Holy Reich of Greater Germania, an ally of J o J, and a staunch supporter of both raiding and fascism. It is unknown how a region such as this avoided closure of embassies in the process of Defascismization several months ago.

What say you, King Edmund I, ruler of the Edmundian Empire?

Hmm....I think the best course of action for us at the moment would be to keep the embassy with Greater Germania. Strategically, they may prove to be a vital diplomatic link between us and J o J, in case we need a negotiated peace to this conflict. However, I do agree that, although they don't have a 'Fascist' tag, they do have some questionable embassies and some suspicious-sounding names for their nations...

Breaking - King Addresses New Conflict

In an address to the people delivered from the Imperial Bungalow in Gladesopolis, the Reigning Monarch, King Edward I, has addressed the entry of the Empire into the war against J o J by Prime Minister Bryne Sunders of the Altonianic Islands. Here is a transcript of his words:

"My Fellow Edmundians. I know, a lot of you will by now be tired of fighting. We've seen enemies emerge, both from across the seas and here at home. Big and extremely small. Now, we enter a new war. This conflict is not like any we have seen before. It will most likely not be decided by force of arms. Our brave men and women in the Imperial Armed Forces most likely not be exchanging fire with the enemy. This conflict will be a conflict of ideology, of diplomacy. Of course, we must remain vigilant. I have informed the Chief of the ISF to mobilise the Space Force, and the Army has been placed on alert. However, victory will not be attained through winning battles; it will be sought through winning hearts and minds. I know that some will think that we are just blindly following the Raxulans into combat; that could not be further from the truth. Because this is more than just helping an old ally out; it is about preserving our God-given, Edmundian ideals of freedom, democracy and stability. It is a test to see if we really are the bastion of liberty we claim we are. And, we will show them we are, damnit! We're Edmundians, and mark my words, we will never back down! Thank you, and God Bless you. Stay strong, stay safe."

The King's speech comes as citizens express fears over the coming war. A poll conducted by the IBS has shown that 45% of Great Edmundians do not support fighting against the J o J. Many constituents have expressed weariness at fighting the Coronavirus, as well as the foreign conflicts still raging in Voteria and Yikestopia. It is hoped that the Reigning Monarch's rousing words will allay the fears of the populace.

They’re definitely fascist, actually.
And I had to withdraw the embassy invitation to Bunicken because they’re suspected fascists, sorry.

Yes, many people in NS think Bunicken is fascist. They certainly have a lot of fascist embassies, even if they aren’t actually fascist, so I personally wouldn’t recommend an embassy with them, although I’ve talked to Morrighan before, and she seems nice enough.

Well, HRGG used to be called the "Greater NAZI Empire," so I think they're pretty damn fascist.
As for Bunicken, Morrighan is actually really nice, and the whole "They're the devil incarnate" is actually a whole bunch of propaganda from actual fascist regions.

There is a similar inkling of "What has J o J done to us?" in the Islands as well. However, upon further research, a majority of Islandsian are in support of the war, due to longstanding border disputes between Fascist J o J and Monarchist Raxulan Empire. Furthermore, given the fact that Islandsian soldiers will not by dying, and that the war is largely diplomatic in nature, a vast majority support the war.

Morrighan is nice enough, yes, but she has too many nazi embassies and connections for The Interdimensional Community to have an embassy with her, nothing personal, but it’s just asking for trouble with the NS community.

Breeze whimpers and raises up her shirt, revealing a large shard of metal embedded in her chest, apparently, shrapnel of the wreckage of the ship was flung around, impacting her and possibly other seagull girls. She moans softly, as if it hurts to move.

Just realized I said "actual" three times in two sentences. Even with a college degree in law, I still manage to bungle grammar variety. Go figure.

So, my 150th day in power is coming up; I think when it does, I'll resign from the WA. This region is amazing and all, but its becoming incredibly inactive. I'll still be logging in once a day, and be active(sorta) in this region, but my main nation will be transferring to The Texan Revolution. Further, if this region miraculously gains new blood and becomes less, well, boring, I'll move my WA back over here. Like I've said, I will NOT be leaving the region, just moving the WA.

Of altonianic islands

In memory of my long tenure here, and given the fact that I need a more in-depth look at my resignation, I would like to do some number crunching.

On January 3, 2020, the Edmundian Empire reached its lowest number of nations since July 29, 2018, barely a week after founding. Invicta, at this time, was booming; while it hadn't yet re-achieved its numbers from Nea Athena's first reign, when he mandated puppets, the region's future was bright. Invicta flew to close to the sun, unfortunately, and the government angered many of the populace. In December 2019, Great Edmundia, the nation this region is named for, had had enough. Great Edmundia voted to leave in late December 2019, and became the first of many. January 3rd was a low point; it was followed immediately by the longest sustained period of prosperity the Empire has ever seen. While initially hindered by the dissolution of Yikelavia by moderators, the tide would not be dissuaded. On February 4th, barely a month after the lowest point in almost 1.5 years, the Empire broke the population record set on October 10, 2018. It broke its own record again on February 25, 2020. From there however, there was a long hiatus. With the covid pandemic, not much was said. Bladias, the only other nation to hold the title of Prime Minister in modern Edmundian history (other than Yikelavia, disputedly), departed. While he subsequently returned, he barely logs in, and isn't WA anymore. The political culture stagnated; with no one to run against, elections were suspended. We've recently come back from that downturn, albeit without matching numbers to just a few months ago. Osajia, is also very inactive; Depressea, my sister, quit the game entirely. That leaves just me and Great Edmundia as the active participants. The Empire will rise again, of that I am sure; and when it does, I'll be here, waiting for it. But this current illustration of the region is not where I want my main. There are thousands of fun, active regions, that would better suit WAship than this region, in its current state. This nation will stay here, and stand the test of time. But I too, will join the ranks of Bladias and Osajia, and withdraw from being an active participant. I just wanted to say, Great Edmundia, I had a phenomenal time, a true blast. I had a blast in Invicta as well; although, I suppose everything must come to an end at some point. I'm sure the Empire will prosper once again at some point, although if the region's history page is anything to go by, that could be a long time.

I'll be here when it does.

The seagull girl frowns and looks down at her wound, appearing to be mildly surprised. In the adrenaline of the moment, she hadn’t really felt anything, and even now, she was in too much shock to feel much pain.

“Doctor, will I be ok?”

BREAKING - VIOLENCE BREAKS OUT AT TRADING POST

One person has been killed and four injured in what authorities suspect was a terrorist attack at The Dogetopian Trading Post, the compound located in the Embassy District of Gladesopolis. At about 3pm yesterday afternoon, an individual of Osajian appearance entered the marketplace wielding a large knife, before lunging at passers-by. One victim was stabbed in the neck, and was pronounced dead by paramedics on the scene. Three other individuals have been transported to hospital; one is still fighting for life with severe chest injuries. The attacker was shot dead by armed police officers who arrived on scene shortly after.

The Trading Post remains closed today, as forensics officers comb through the area searching for evidence. The IBI's Counter-Terrorism Unit is coordinating the investigation. The IBI-CTU has so far refused to give any details about their findings.

The fifteen Dogetopian police officers and the three Dogetopian detectives stationed in the trading post have also been investigating in tandem with the IBI-CTU, and have not disclosed what exactly they know, preferring to work with their Edmundian counterparts closely and keep order. The Dogetopians are of the sentiment that the terrorist was simply jealous of their greatness.

The IBI-CTU has released new information regarding the terrorist attack on the Trading Post. The attacker seems to have acted on his own. However, he was most likely influenced by terrorist propaganda online.

More information was also released on the fatality, a 22-year old Yikestopian student at Gladesopolis University who had been shopping for a rug to decorate his university dormitory when he was stabbed. His family has been notified, and has asked for privacy as they mourn.

The Dogetopian merchants are shocked by this state of affairs, and a few of them no longer feel safe, moving out of the compound back to their homeland. Most of the merchants, however, are determined to stick with with Edmundia and aren’t as easily scared off. The trading post is still open for business, albeit with new security measures in place.

The Doctor is shocked that none of the women had reported their grievous injuries to the ambulance personnel at the crash site, or even to the soldiers manning the buses that took them here. Did they not trust the paramedics? Why did they keep quiet, all this time? There were so many injuries that the small regional clinic probably couldn't handle them all. He tells the nurse to start calling up other hospitals. Soon, ambulances and air ambulances start arriving to transfer the injured to other hospitals. Paramedics also go onto the other buses to make sure no other serious injuries were missed...
