"Online marriage" : is it just the ceremony we're talking about, the wedding - and then the newlyweds actually do go and love one another and share bodily fluids happily ever after till death do them part...
...or is it another of those brave new world things people believe they can get the same result and satisfaction from online as they do off because there's no real difference between the real McCoy and the surrogate anymore?
The idea came from Nationstates, people meet and fall in love with people virtually, and when they are in love, they want to get married virtually. For some, the internet is their only social life.
That was the reason I made the suggestion.

I agree with you. I voted yes, but I have observations. Virtual dating is just an illusion, but I think everyone has their freedom to do what they want.
I think of two people in different countries, unable to be together because they have no money, nor the right passports, but they are the salvation of each other. How they would be married, who knows, maybe a certificate that has no validity in their countries but the piece of paper means everything to them. It is a symbol.
If they are two people living in the same city, you would want them to talk together face-to-face, to touch. But people have phobias, different ways. If they want to marry on-line, who are they hurting?

Greece has become the world’s first Christian Orthodox nation to legalise same-sex marriage after the Athens parliament passed the landmark reform amid scenes of both jubilation and fury in the country.
In a rare display of parliamentary consensus, 176 MPs from across the political spectrum voted in favour of the bill on Thursday. Another 76 rejected the reform while two abstained from the vote and 46 were not present.
