Belagia wrote:HM Foreign Office Official Press Release

Due to the liberalization of Visa policies of friendly nations towards Belagia, the Belagian Government hereby announces the following update to HM Visa Policy:

[snip]

Every other country not listed in this update will have it's citizens subject to requiring a visa upon entry into Belagia. Further questions can be written to HM Foreign Office, Consular Affairs Administration.

Very Respectfully,
Juliette Praet | HM Foreign Office Minister

Your Excellency,

I would like to applaud Belagia's initiatives to further increase the connectedness and accessibility of all nations so that citizens of many nations around the world can connect more easily. It is wonderful to see nations embrace an open position in an increasingly globalized world - too few nations do this.

In name of the Imperial Federation, I would propose that Infiny joins the list of countries whose citizens can enter Belagia visa-free for 70 days. We believe the relationship between Infiny and Belagia to be strong and respectful enough for such an arrangement. Moreover, we also hold that such an arrangement will be beneficial for travel, trade, and further development of our diplomatic relations. Naturally, in case this proposal is accepted, Belagian citizens will also be able to enter Infiny for 70 days, visa-free. I hope you will consider our offer.

Sincerely,

Xitan Minenko

Your Excellency,

First, allow me to congratulate you on the establishment of EFTO in the first place. It is great to see nations associate with one another in the spirit of peace and prosperity rather than in the spirit of hate and division. Infiny considers the EFTO to be a great development for the prosperity of your region, and we thus wish to extend our fullest support to the organization. Naturally, due to our geographic location, the extent of our support is limited. As such, we would like to join the EFTO as a non-European partner. We believe that increased free trade between our regions will boost both our economies and allow our nations and our peoples to further pursue their happiness. I have included a formal application letter (sent by telegram), and I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly.

Belo, the Air Force is not the Civil Air Patrol. The CAP is the aux arm of the Air Force. I have several books on the subject and have even spoken to a few pilots who fly the E-3 Sentry. You may have spoken to pilots but unless they flew the E-3 Sentry, the planes are detected.

NASA launches BREEZE (Bioinspired Ray for Extreme Environments and Zonal Exploration)

As space exploration marches onward, NASA has announced that it plans a deep study of the atmosphere of Earth's closest twin Venus. Unvealing a mock-up model of it's latest project called the Bioinspired Ray for Extreme Environments and Zonal Exploration or BREEZE for short, BREEZE is an inflatable robotic flier inspired by ray fish that would float and glide through the upper layers of the atmosphere of Venus at 50 to 60 km (31 to 37 mi) in altitude. It would be solar powered and be able to vary its altitude through the use of tensioning cables to alter the volume of the craft. According to the project leads, the BREEZE craft would be able to use the zonal winds like jet streams to circumnavigate the planet in four to six days – charging up on the 2-3 days on the day side and exploring the night side. Instruments carried could include mass spectrometer, nephelometer, visible and near-infrared high resolution cameras, magnetometer, and anemometer, as well as sensors for measuring atmospheric pressure, temperature, and density, and others. Also revealed is what NASA is calling Power Beaming for Long Life Venus Surface Missions. Aimed at exploration of Venus, the Power Beaming study will look at providing electricity to Venus surface missions. In this an "atmospheric platform" (a balloon) would be mounted with solar panels, batteries, and a radio frequency or microwave transmitter. The balloon would float in the upper layers of the Venusian atmosphere, where the sunlight would charge the batteries.

Once the batteries are charged, the balloon would sink into the lower atmosphere, where the opaque clouds prevent surface landers from using their own solar panels for energy. The balloon's transmitter would then beam energy to a lander, which is equipped with special rechargeable, high-temperature molten salt or solid electrolyte batteries, or a solid oxide regenerative fuel cell system that can survive the surface temperatures of Venus that are high enough to melt lead. The balloon would then ascend and repeat the process.

(have I mentioned how much i LOVE space related projects?)

As a part of Operation "Scorpion", an E-3 Sentry of the Furstian People's Air Force was flying 38,000 ft above. The mission was simple. The rebels had no aircraft. But, finally, things would get interesting for the Furstian pilots.

"Command, this is Halcón-1. We have detected several launches of cruise missiles originating from international waters, heading towards the coast. Gaviota-1 and Gaviota-2 have confirmed this information. Present in the area of the launches are elements of the Russoslav and American navies. Awaiting orders, over."

"Halcón-1, this is Command Center. Orders are to attempt to establish contact and request them to cease their actions. Over."

"Understood, Command Center. We'll proceed to the... Hold on, Command. Radar has detected 8 unidentified aircraft en route towards the coast as well."

"Copy that, Halcón-1. Order Squadron "Eko" to intercept. Proceed with previous orders as well. Over"

"Yes, Command. Halcón-1, over and out."

...

"This is Halcón-1, to Eko-1. Come in, over."

"Eko-1 here. Over"

"Radar has detected 8 unidentified aircraft heading towards the coast. There has been a missile strike moments ago, so we believe that they might have hostile intentions. Command has ordered your squadron to intercept. Set course 1-0-2, descend to 12,000 ft. Over."

"Alright, Halcón-1. Proceeding with interception orders. Eko-1, over and out."

...

Minutes later, as they were approaching the West African coast, 4 jets and 4 helicopters had been intercepted by 10 Su-30MKI.

"Unidentified aircraft, this is the Furstian People's Air Force. We are complying with an official request of military assistance made by the West African Government. You are flying without authorization over West African airspace. You have been intercepted. Please, identify yourselves and state your intentions so we can peacefully escort you out of the area. Over."

USS New Hampshire, leaving West African waters (heading to Labyrnna for port stop)

As Capt. Fraser read the after-action reports and grinned, there was a knock on his cabin door. As he replied for the sailor to come in, the Ensign stood to attention

"Sir, radar has picked up Furstian aircraft at long range along with Russoslavan aircraft. There's no fighters coming towards us but there still is that surface contact."

Fraser sighed and got up and followed the Ensign to the bridge before speaking to the crew as a whole

"Attention all hands. I have been informed that the Furstians are in the area looking for the source of those missile launches. As you are aware, this ship fired no missiles but did fire the main guns at targets in West Africa. However, our Furstians friends are unaware of this and have sent a vessel and planes to investigate. The planes are handling a intercept of Russoslavan planes but there is still a Furstian People's navy frigate nearing our position. We will act accordingly and be friendly. But in case things go south, I want battlestations manned and ready."

As he placed the ship wide phone down, klaxons blared as the ship went into General Quarters.

"Welcome, Agent Diya. I heard you were looking for me, specifically. What makes me so interesting that Furstia itself is looking for me." Aysi asked.

Agent Diya: "Greetings Mrs. Amaechi.

I apologize for the unexpected interruption. I'm sure we could have met in proper circumstances but the deterioration of the situation in your country has accelerated faster than what had been anticipated, so that's the reason why I'm here.

While I am merely acting as an interlocutor for my Government, I ask you to pay close attention to what I'm about to say.

Furstia and West Africa have had good diplomatic relations and enjoyed increased levels of cooperation over the last decades. Well until this whole affair started at least, due to the mistakes made by Mrs. Nkruma Ngige. Mistakes that are inherent to an obsolete and oligarchic system such as a monarchy.

My country has tried to intervene to preserve peace in your country, but the balance has been irremediably disrupted and order has to be restored at once, to prevent a major crisis in the region.
But the question is who will get the chance to restore order once again over the lives of the West African people.

My Government believes that your movement has the necessary capabilities to install a proper republican system but in order to do so, the head of the old, corrupt system needs to be destroyed. Furstia is willing to assist you and your followers in achieving success by providing what your movement currently lacks and needs. A sizable and professional military force.

I wish to clarify once again that by no means I am a negotiator. I just bring a unique proposition from my Government.

I ask you to carefully consider this, Mrs. Amaechi. You can be the person that will mean a new beginning for your country, and quite possibly the one that will also renew and stregthen ties between our nations. A true West African-Furstian partnership.

I know that this is sudden and the information I have given you is limited, but we have no time to lose. For every second we wait, a disaster is more likely to happen, so I need to hear your decision. I can promise you that if you choose to follow me, I will take you to meet the people that will help you make this change happen as soon as possible."

Peacekeeper 45

A grey Boeing 767, during the sunrise, would fly out from the Atlantic into Western Afrika. Bearing the Belagian registration BE-9478, the aircraft would be equipped with radars and staffed with volunteers and analysts. What makes this aircraft unique is that it is staffed by Watchdogs International, a Brussels-based Monitoring Non-Profit that monitors war zones for any violations of war crimes.

"Center, switching to Dakar Center on 145.3. Good Day." Captain Phillipe Boute would say to remote radio operators operating the airspace of the Southern Atlantic.

Captain Boute would change the frequency to that of Dakar Center, which is presumably restricted and swarmed with military aircraft. His First Officer, Renee Poulin, would wipe her hands with sanitizer and pick up a book of statements to say.

"Dakar Center, this is Peacekeeper four-fiver, type Boeing 767, with you, flight level three-five-zero (35,000 feet)".

A Public Address from Mirza Salahuddin Abbasi, to the Hindi People

A young, sword-wielding government official comes to the podium outside of the palace.

Praise be to God! In the name of God and my ancestors, I am happy to welcome all of our wondrous Hindi subjects to the first Public Address of Mirza Salahuddin Abbasi!

Shortly after, the Mirza himself enters stage right to the thunderous applause of all in attendance. Despite Salahuddin being aged 60 and having ruled for 41 years, Salahuddin was a rather reclusive Mirza, rarely seen in public. Unlike his gregarious and pop-culture figure father Alaudin. Salahuddin's speech was glorious; inspiring to the people. At the conclusion of the speech, Salahuddin made a promise to all in attendance that day: the once-prestigious Hindustani identity back to the forefront of world politics.

Aysi looked at Diya, tapping her finger on the table, thinking. Once Diya was finished talking, Aysi spoke.

"Taking on Nkemdilim is a dangerous task. He is a madman, and he would do anything to stop someone from taking his power from him. Though, you crossing West Africa to get here must mean that your country either doesn't care about you or really wants to get behind us. Being that you have an idea of what you're here about, I'm going to guess the latter.

Anyways, we're at a standstill right now. A few of our supply lines were cut off which lead to some key areas being under supplied. Help from a neighbor could be useful. It could turn tides in this needless war.

Ties between the nations can wait, however. First, Nkemdilim is taken down. Second, order and democracy is established. Then, we can talk about stronger ties. Tell your superiors that I accept, Agent Diya." she said with a grin.

First stages of reforms brought into the Senate as the Liberal Coalition begins its wholesale reforms
With power in the hands of the Senate, Consul Giles has announced that major reforms are to be brought in to the country, in a bid to end the economic and infrastructural issues that have plagued the country with the power held mostly within the cities. The first step the Liberal Coalition have to take towards eventual ushering in their more radical policies is by the "Standardisation Acts" in which issues such as taxes, healthcare, train funding and other powers now held in the Senate is to be standardised with uniform policies. Another issue that is to be dealt with is infrastructure, with the Samuel Beeching employed to set up a commision to reform and strip away the unprofitable lines. Currently the train system is nationalised, and although the Conservative umbrella parties pledged to privatise it, the Liberal Coalition has no current intention of doing so. The previous local healthcare ownership is to be brought under a new standardised National Healthcare Assistance as although it was free at point of use before, standards and hospital disuse in rural areas are to be brought up to scratch. These are just a few examples of the different services that are to brought to Senate control from the cities, but it is expected most of these acts are to pass with the coalition in strong support for these new policies, but it will take several debates and amendments to get it all through law

Tide Turns to Rebels

With the stalemate looming over both sides, the rebels broke through. The current control has the rebels to the east and west with the northern part of West Africa being contested between the rebels and Loyalists, who still have control in Central Southern West Africa. (https://imgur.com/UMFZY8f.jpg)

Rebel Leader, Aysi Amaechi has once again called for talks with King Nkemdilim, but they were once again denied, repeating the previous reasons. The large push of the rebels came from the falling support for Nkemdilim and the Loyalists. With the closing in of the rebels on Abidjan, King Nkemdilim has put the city on lockdown. To travel in and out of the city, a special card is required if a citizen does not work outside of the city.

Consul Giles voices his approval for Rome joining, before any formal announcement was made!
In an embarrising moment for the newly elected Consul, Alesandro Giles has applauded the nation of Vicintia for joining the Triarchy (but calling it the Tetrarchy) and welcoming them into the fold. This has proved rather embarrassing as no formal announcement had been made yet and it is said that talks have only just finished and all the details haven't even been finalised yet. The tweet was quickly deleted but Mursian social media has already derided this with the #Alesandroneedsviatec, with Viatec being a popular medicine in Mursia that prevents premature ejaculation in men. Although it had been rumoured about a possible new entry to the Triarchy with leaked documents showing a changed header on a government document from Triarchy to Tetrarchy it was unknown who exactly was joining, with Rome and other nations rumoured to be interested. Consul Giles has apologised for the mistake, but it seems that this is slightly overshadowing Giles' domestic agenda.
