Tai People's Liberation Army crosses into Myanmar

At approximately 3 pm today, Red Tai forces have attempted to cross the Mekong River, with forces predominantly centered on the Lao-Burmese Friendship bridge, backed by air cover provided by fighter and AWACS elements of the Tai Worker's Air and Air Defense Force, and ground support provided by two dozen TPLA Mi-35Ps. The scale of the incursion has so far been limited, with the several thousand-strong force engaging in light combat with local defense forces and failing to cross the bridge, with the Tatmadaw detonating explosive charges along the bridge. The presence of heavy TPLA SPGs in the area, however, forced the retreat of the defending Tatmadaw forces. TPLA paratroopers have, however, been airlifted by Chinese assets and have secured several potential crossing points along the Mekong, with TPLA engineers already on site and working on repairing both the sabotaged bridge and constructing several portable bridges linking the beachheads established to the Laotian side of the river. Red Tai armour units committed to the offensive have so far yet to be seen, and are believed to be deployed along the planned Rotfai Prachachon construction sites, with the heaviest TPLA assets currently observed consisting of BTR-60s and BMP-3s. The action follows airstrikes carried out by TWAADF fighters earlier in the morning against Keng Tung Airport, and the commencement of the TSPR's commitment to the Pattaya Alliance's war against the genocidal Bamar-majority Myanmar government.

Khon Kaen has so far insisted that the actions are merely a part of the Tai push to protect the Tai majority peoples in the Shan State, which the TSPR believes have been mistreated and oppressed under Bamar rule, and is not a war of imperialism or of colonialism. Once the rights of the native Shan peoples within Myanmar have been secured and enforced to the satisfaction of the Tai People's Congress, the Congress promises that the TPLA will initiate a gradual withdrawal in the event that the Shan people elect to remain with the central Myanmarese government.

Highly encrypted communiques have been dispatched to the Chinese and Bangladeshi High Commands, with the details of the forces committed and strategic goals of the TPLA;

COMMUNIQUE FROM THE TAI CENTRAL PEOPLE'S COMMAND OF THE NATIONAL DEFENSE FORCES

To our Chinese and Bangladeshi comrades,

The Tai People's Liberation Army will endeavor to commit to three strategic principles during our offensive into the Shan State; there will be a main push towards Keng Tung, the state capital, supported by armour and artillery in ample amounts as soon as delivery of such equipment across the Mekong is possible; major railway lines and road networks spanning the region will be a priority target; TWAADF air assets will attempt to maintain complete air superiority over the Shan and Kayah State regions, as well as support neighboring Chinese Air Force efforts in northern Burma. 35 Mi 17s and 24 Mi 35Ps have been attached to support the Infantry.

The TPLA currently has 70 Infantry Battalions committed to the Shan Front, with 6 additional battalions in reserve to be made available to reinforce allied forces if requested, for a total of 60,800 personnel. A mechanized regiment has also been committed to the Shan Front, though heavier assets have been placed in the rear until such a time comes that the assets will be able to cross the Mekong- the TPLA expect a few weeks at most. The regiment, with 3,600 personnel, operates the following;

15 T-84 Oplot
45 ZTZ 99A
145 Type 89 AFV
20 Type 08 APC

300 Artillery pieces, including some 40 SPGs and 30 MRLS systems, will also be supporting the TPLA forces.

The TWAADF has committed the following to maintain total air superiority over the region;

10 FC-31
34 J-10C
20 MiG 23MLD
16 MiG 21

Hope Probe Update
July 27th, 2020

Earlier this month on July 19th the rocket carrying the Hope probe launched from an island off the coast of Southern mainland Japan.

It was a long and tedious process in getting the probe to Japan, along with the Emirati scientist. The scientist worked long hours as the COVID-19 pandemic threatened the viability of the launch, but with hard work and perseverance, the team was able to finish their work in time.

After traveling to Japan and waiting the two-week quarantine process, the scientists were able to set up operations and prepare the rocket carrying the probe for launch.

With the launch being a total success, all operations were to be continued on from ground control in Dubai.

The expected travel time of the Hope probe is about 200 days on its journey of 493 million kilometers. Upon arrival at Mars, it will enter orbit and study the atmosphere of Mars for two years.

With this information, the UAE can make better use of the harsh desert climate that makes up most of the country. The atmospheric readings of Mars could be the future of the advancement of the UAE.

Though this is not the main reason that the probe was launched into space, there is a reason why it is named Hope.

The UAE’s economy still heavily relies on its oil exports, even in its attempt to develop its tourism industry. The Hope probe’s true purpose according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Emirate of Dubai, "a message of optimism to millions of young Arabs."

The probe is to inspire the scientific and engineering industry and to catch the gaze of the young Arabs and future workers of tomorrow. With the increase of those wishing to take the path of science, the UAE can rid itself of its reliance on oil.

Raʾīs Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a promise to the people by 2130 to have a colony on Mars, not as a passion project, but a promise to the people to further the UAE in the technological industry.

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM PUBLISHED FINANCIAL REPORTS OF BOTH PARTIES UP TO THIS MOMENT?

On the request of Public Prosecutor of the Constitutional Court of Serbia, both ruling Democratic Party (DS) and opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) have published their financial reports for 1990-2020 period. On behalf of DS, Vice President of the party Hana Adrović controlled the publishing. On behalf of SDP, it was done by MP Boško Jakšić. While experts are still inspecting the documents, some early trends can easily be traced trough the time. In that sense, especially interesting period was the last decade.

Reports have discovered that DS, who came to power in 2009 and still holds it is mostly financed by the private donors, some members of the party, others not. Most of them are people from business, and increasing donations from business elites has especially rose in the recent few years. List of the largest donors of DS includes the Chairman of Delta Holding Miroslav Mišković, as well as his predecessor on that position Marko Goranović. It is hard to estimate how much money they've both put into DS in last few years, because donations also include ones coming from their relatives and business partners, but if we include all that, Delta Holding is the single largest donor entity to DS. When it comes to SDP, situation is much different. Especially since the current party officials have taken power, number of small donations especially in times of campaign has reached its peak. Along that, SDP also receives large sums of money from the unions, their traditional partners.

Most important question is whether or not has there been any fraud when it comes to financing the parties. Currently, most important period to inspect in terms of that issue are first five years after both parties were founded - period from 1990 to 1995. Back then, SDP, ruling party, has been declared the legal heir of the former ruling League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ), and they've inherited all their property and resources which put them in much better position than DS. On the other side, DS was founded by 13 dissident intellectuals struggling for financial resources. It is important to mention that in the first four years of DS, when professor Dragoljub Mićunović was party leader, there can be found some missing data regarding the donations that party was accepting. Mr. Mićunović, who turned 90 years a week ago, is still politically active as the party chairman and is expected to address the public regarding the potential scandal coming into public after grand three decades of waiting for all these reports to see the light of the day and finally reveal to all of us how parties were financed up to this year.

Economic Vision for the State going Forward

It's no secret economic prosperity leads to the development, improvement in life quality, and the advancement in scientific research. We the Jordanian Parliament understand this and have unveiled the Levant Moonshot Initiative.

Our dream of becoming a lead exporter in the agricultural sector to the West are not merely words. Our great farmers in the Jordan Valley will be receiving subsidized assistance in funding, improved infrastructure, and other needy support to increase agricultural outputs. The geographic location of Jordan is unique, between East and West, making the desired shipping of agricultural goods ideal for both counterparts. To meet the needs of the increased water demand this proposal will heavily depend on the aquifers of Disi in Southern Jordan as well as the West Bank's Jordan River aquifers. New water pipelines will be built so that water shortages will not be a problem for necessary citizen use, agriculture, etc.

Yes, the commitment to agriculture is important. Yes, the farmers of our society are the backbone of our economy who we value for keeping us fed. However, the year is 2020 and it's impossible to compete in this global economy with one such commodity. Diversification is key for the Levant Moonshot Initiative to take off. Realizing this, talks between Amman-Cairo have resulted in the gracious grant of $10,000,000 USD from the Egyptian Development Bank. This money has been entrusted to create jobs and revamp much needed infrastructure; water pipelines from West Bank to the Jordan Valley, build wind farms in Ma'an Governate, construct solar panels throughout the South. These increases in renewable resources are meant to increase jobs, reaffirm our international commitment to green energy and climate change control. In addition to this, these talks with The Abbasiyah Republic have led to the establishment of a free trade zone in Aqaba where the Jordan-Egypt Trade Corridor from Aqaba to Al-Mustaqbal Port will be strengthened.

Recent developments in the region may deter tourists from the West to come to visit the beautiful country. However, our commitments to stability, peace, and prosperity are at its highest. Having one of the World's Ancient 7 Wonders in Petra, numerous holy religious sites, and a beautiful country side we're also expanding our tourism sector. In addition to our global commitment, we are extending our invitation to numerous multinational corporations through reduced tax rates in exchange for employing 33% of their workforce here with our citizens. We believe in the talent of the Jordanian people and we are giving them the opportunity to succeed in furthering their careers individually and for their country. New tech talent focused on agtech, R&D research, fintech, and other entrepreneurial endeavors to make Jordan the Levant's Silicon Valley is underway.

      Ignored Migrant Issues

NORTHERN PARIS— In the suburbs of Paris, specifically to the North has been home to migrants that have fled from their homes due to war, poverty, unfair prosecution etc. High levels of migration has also led to an increase in petty crime, which is in response to lack of government policy and assistance to help people many of whom are under the age of 18 to find jobs, and to better their education. Young Moroccan children who have traveled to the European Union illegally are residing in parks and back alleys in the northern suburbs, which has led to discomfort and pity for local residents saying that the government needs to do better in terms of getting these migrant children out of parks and into government assistance programs. One local mother of 3 Renee who walks her two daughters to preschool passes by these parks and also sees these petty crimes take place herself. “Sometimes when I walk to get my groceries I see these children steal from people sitting in cafès, and would break into underground apartments to spend the night, or into construction buildings that are being renovated.” She said. Several social workers have been trying to help these children, such as handing out food and clothes to those in need. Colette Allard, a social worker for the social workers department in the 18th district and many of her colleagues are working to help these children in any way possible, but with the lack of authoritative assistance petty theft will most likely continue. Ms. Allard has been working to provide assistance to those in need for nearly 5 years and during this time she said that all their stories are the same. “We ask them why they fled their country, many respond saying that they have nothing in their home country, or that they were already homeless. Many of the migrants I’ve worked with are children no more than 18 years old, I believe the youngest child I’ve come in contact with who are out on the street are as young 10 years of age.” She said. It also worries her since many of the people who are in need also do not have access to medical care which can be a frightening thought since the country is in the middle of recovering from harsh social distancing procedures in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19. City Hall has been blamed by many in the social workers profession for not acting quick enough to help the situation that dominates much of the local business within the district. Since then it’s expected that a facility will be built next to the park to provide services such as food and clothing. While also making sure they’re instilling guidelines for these children to follow so they are no longer on the street.

It raised a question to ask why these migrants come to France instead of Spain in most cases since it would make more geographical sense given that Spain is closer to Morocco. I asked Federica Russo of the Missing Children Europe Organization why this is. “This is mostly due in part to people not only from Morocco but from other North African and Middle Eastern countries see France and Germany as opportunities for a new start because that’s what they’ve been told. However once they come here it’s not always the reality they hoped for. Mediterranean states such as Spain which is not a democratic state, and others that do not promise these senses of security like France or Germany does.”

It’s been taken to account that the government will be held responsible for how these children are treated Mrs. Russo pointed out. “These children may have mental health issues such as depression, and also physical health issues. Many which are homeless and are obliged to sleep outside where their safety isn’t guaranteed and I’m fearful that these children can be easy targets for organized crime similar to the situation with the Nigerian Mafia in Sicily where young African men and women are put into sex or drug trafficking from other countries trying to exploit this by selling their drugs into Europe.” Suicide in most cases have been reported among those who are really young and are in these circumstances additionally. European law states that children ought to have a guardian that represents their interest and to serve as guidance for them so they can better understand the laws of the country they reside, and to better integrate within society. The Minister of Interiors spokesperson said, “This particular issue isn’t just focused on France, but throughout Europe. Minister Christophe Castaner will continue to work with the resources he has to make sure France puts in place guidelines and to further assist local governments with these said guidelines.” However these words are critiqued by people like Collete Allard who claims that the central government does little to nothing to help local governments deal with the migrant crisis.

The Maharlikan Government, to inaugurate the second phase of privatization

Following the success of the Santos Convention, which determined the proceeding course of action for the Maharlikan Privatization Program, the Privatization Council (PrC) has launched a new initiative to invigorate subsequent efforts in transferring the ownership of government-owned assets to private enterprises. Much of the previous responsiblities of the Privatization Management Office (PMO) has also been delegated to the PrC in order to ameliorate existing issues observed in the previous endeavors to privatize and to accelerate the necessitated procedures in acquiring the assets.

The Maharlikan Privatization Program was commenced as part of the World Bank (WB) Structural Adjustment Loan (SAL) for the public sector in 1984. With further incentives springing into play in light of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) requisition for privatization in order for the nation to receive a stabilization loan package. In the "Enhanced Monitoring Scheme," the advancements in privatization was scrutinized by the IMF in its annual evaluation of Maharlika's economic and monetary performance.

The foundations for the program's institution were established through the efforts of President Diosdado Macapagal, who propounded socio-economic reforms which emphasized the transition of the nation to a "free and private enterprise," entrusting economic development at the expertise of entrepeneurs with minimal government interference. A comprehensive analysis of state enterprises was also commissioned by Diosdado Macapagal under his second term, the conclusion of this analysis brought two presidential decrees, PD 2029 and PD 2030. The former formulated the guidelines for the institution and regulation of government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs), while the latter facilitated the precise disposition of specific assets of government institutions and devised the legal basis for the transfer of GOCCs that were adjudged not essential to the operations of government to private administration.

At the commencement of the program in 1987, 446 assets were allocated by the PrC for privatization. Substantial results would come in June 30, 1993, when the program had accumulated $2.05 billion with its majority coming from the PrT's transfer of 305 assets over $688 million. Among the major GOCCs which were completely privatized were the Commercial Bank of Manila, the Maharlikan Plaza Hotel, Marina Properties, and Quirino Airlines.

Notwithstanding the positive results, the overall objective of the program which was the "privatization, restructuring, rationalization, and divestment of government corporations and their subsidiaries which were instituted by preceding administrations" was not yet fully attained. To this end, the PrC recommenced the program to consummate previously held objectives.

The second phase of privatization will encompass fifteen government companies, the entirety of which will be transferred through share issue privatization. Domestic partners, which were made aware of in February 5, are provided with a chance to submit their letters of intent to the Privatization Council. Financial advisers are tasked with guiding authorities in the sale of the government shares in the listed companies as well as the schedule of the transaction itself.

Kra refugee crisis
24 July 2020

Mansour Bahari

Pengkalan Hulu, Perak: After a week of the reopening of the Pulai-Kra border, the increasing influx of refugees has caused a toll on the bordering states. The ongoing Kra Civil War have displaced many.

The National Assembly passed the bill to accept refugees from Kra due to the ongoing conflict. However, safety precautions have to be taken in order to assist the refugees. Refugee camps will be set up in order to quarantine all refugees entering the country.

The Betong-Bukit Berapit border is most notable for the influx of refugees. Residents from the town of Betong in Kra have mostly fled the town for the border, leaving the town deserted. The town of Ayer Panas will be one of the biggest refugee camps in the area to accommodate the refugees.

Pulai Minister of Foreign Affairs Tan Hock Bee, stated that Pulai must step up its welfare and foreign policy as the Pulaian society has always been about assisting others. He stated that the nation feels responsible, being a neighbour of a nation in the centre of a conflict.

The Pulaian Armed Forces will be assisting the Royal Pulaian Police Force with the border control. Ground troops have been deployed in all border checkpoints, as well as throughout the border. This is to keep guerrilla groups away from entering.

Locals in Pengkalan Hulu have been supportive of the government’s decision in accepting and opening its arms to the refugees. Rahman Bin Yaakub, village elder and chief of Kampung Bukit Serdang, supported the government in the move. He said,”My village will give our 100% support to the government. The people of Betong are one of us, we speak the same language, we pray to the same God, they are us. Our brothers and sisters need our help and we will give our support to them and make them feel safe and secured in our beautiful country.”

As tensions escalate in Kra, the government will have to mobilise more troops along the border. Pulai state government have reported that they do not side anyone in the conflict, but sides with the people. Neutrality is important to every Pulaian, and everyone has a part to play in keeping a peaceful and safe society we live in.

The Beautiful City with a Murderous Blight

MARSEILLE— One of Europe’s most cultured cities, and an important city port for France in the Mediterranean Sea, Mariselle’s rich history and culture have been plagued with violence such as petty theft crimes to even murder. Marseille is considered the “Murder Captial of France” due to their high murder rate and overall organized crime connections. Statistics shows that the murder rate in the city is 3.5 per 100,000 people with a population of nearly 900,000 people. Compared to other cities particularly American cities French crime is 3 to 4 times inferior to American crime rates, but many residents say that simply isn’t enough. Michèle Rubirola, the newly elected Mayor of Marseille from the Greens Party now is faced with a task to deal with the title of murder captial burdened the public, and other issues such as immigration. Her plans are to put forth more government programs to help infiltrate the hard hit areas of crime with more local authorities and government assistance programmes. Murder isn’t the only committed crime in the city, but the city also had a prevalent drug trafficking problem and organized crime which has been an issue since the 1930s specifically known as “The French Connection”. Although it was allegedly dismantled nearly 40 years ago by the government in the 70s, related drug gangs continue to smuggle drugs mainly heroin from Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey and various North and Sub Saharan African nations. The demographics of those that commit these crimes regularly come from migrants such as Algerian, Nigerian, and Arab minorities make up most of those who’ve been caught by local police who partake in these crimes. Many residents and tourists for that matter continue to be discouraged by these activities throughout the city, asking whether or not the city is safe. We asked the locals such as Marion DeSanta formerly known as Maria, an immigrant from Burgos, Spain told us that: “When me and my 3 children immigrated here from Spain, we still wanted to be somewhere that reminded us of home. Paris and other northern cities in France are a bit too expensive for me, and I believe that the budgetary situation that living in Marseille causes for other people to take advantage of that. The city is relatively beautiful, however like most cities around the world there are places that tourists and law abiding people should stay away from.” She said.

Looking more into organized crime, the city's black market is controlled by the mafia, specifically three rival mafia groups partake in the black market throughout the city and southern France. With connections that go through Italy, and other North African nations. As said earlier about the murder rate, those who are killed are almost always from rival gang violence. The boss or “Godfather” of one of the mafias that rule over the city's crime is known to be someone who even the local politicians are weary for their safety. The Mayor said that it’s important that her office along with the President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Renaud Muselier, work together in controlling the black market so it doesn’t upset law and order among members of government. As the member of Les Républicains, Mr. Muselier has asked the departmental president of the Bouches-du-Rhône for ways that they can work with the mayor to quell this issue in the past, but little progress was made. However the newly elected mayor says that the regional government fails to provide the city the funding it needs to police, provide better social security. and a number of security programs for those who can be easily targeted by organized crime leaders. A beautiful French Mediterranean city hindered by its criminal record is something the new mayor plans to tackle head on during her time as mayor, citing the failures of past “establishment politicians” for allowing for the poor to stay poorer, in many circumstances.

Pro-independence rally in London ends in violence as tensions grow between Westminster and Holyrood

A rally organized by Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on Thursday ended in a riot after counterprotesters attempted to intervene, witnesses and police say. Over 3,000 people gathered at Hyde Park to hear Ms. Sturgeon hold her first speech at the park regarding independence. Upon her arrival, an incident was reported at a cordon formed by the London Metropolitan Police unit, who had received reports of an incoming rally of some 1,500 counterprotesters, mostly belonging to "British right-wing" groups, the police reported. Despite this, the First Minister held her speech at the famous Speaker's Corner. There, she clamoured for Scottish independence, stating that "nothing will stop the will of the Scottish people to become an independent nation." She ended her speech by saying that London "held little sway over Edinburgh" and that a great majority of Scots "no longer considered themselves British, but rather Scots" who "wish for immediate self-determination and independence."

Following her departure, at least 16 separate incidents of violence were reported near Hyde Park after pro-independence groups and counter demonstrators clashed outside the police cordon near the park. At least three people were stabbed and sent to the hospital by EMT's, while at least ten others suffered injuries following a series of street fights. One unidentified SNP staffer was arrested along with 20 others after police intervened and declared the gatherings unlawful. London Mayor, Sadiq Khan blames the violence on "far-right groups" and commended the efforts of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. While he said he had no stance on the issue, he described Ms. Sturgeon as a "strong individual, with incredible resolve."

Ms. Sturgeon's speech and the subsequent violence, came amid an ongoing legal challenge by London over Edinburgh's vote to hold another referendum for Scottish independence. The United Kingdom Supreme Court took up the case on Friday, and has since been hearing the arguments of both Attorney Generals representing the two governments. A ruling is expected for this weekend.

Bronze Age Archaelogical Site Uncovered in Al Shamal

The Qatar Islamic Archaeology and Heritage Project has announced the recent discovery of a new archaeological site located in the westernmost point of Qatar's al-Shamal municipality. The site, though still under excavation, has been found to contain artifacts such as pottery fragments and metallic instruments, as well as small structural remains. Originally estimated to have originated from the Dilmun period based on the types of pottery and metallic tools found there, radiocarbon dating indicates that the site was inhabited around approximately 2000 BCE, confirming these estimates. The new site was found roughly 15 km from the town of Al Zubarah, which is the focal point of QIAH expeditions.

While QIAH, a collaboration between the Qatar Museums Authority and the University of Copenhagen, primarily focuses on Islamic-period archaeology, which the new site predates by almost 2,700 years, because of its close proximity to their existing operations the group has decided to continue to head excavation. Scientists from the project have expressed enthusiasm at this new discovery, stating that each new site uncovered sheds more light on pre-Islamic Arabian civilization.

Infamous drug lord captured in Eshkashem

Tajikistan has long suffered from the abuse and trafficking of illicit substances, especially from Afghanistan. The Tajik government pledged to increase funding towards border security and law enforcement but to no avail. At least, not until today, where one of the most infamous drug lords of the region, Dara "Padar" Hasanov was captured at 11 am on the road by border forces. After security noted a suspicious looking truck about to pass over the Panj, they ordered it to pull over. Breaking open the doors of the cargo, they uncovered an Afghan man in a business suit and about 1 tonne of heroin in bags. Detaining the apparent businessman, they learned from the confessions of the driver, that he was the drug lord "Padar" as he was known. As of this announcement, the suspect is being transported to the Ismail Somoni Jail in Dushanbe.

Upon hearing this news, President Tahmaseb Abdulayev told the nation on TV:

"Today my compatriots is a good day for the fight against drugs. It is now confirmed that one of our most wanted suspects has been detained on our Afghan border, accused of ruining lives all over the world. He will finally be in the hands of justice."

Shortly after, a bomb threat was sent to the local Farmer's Market in Eshkashem, vowing revenge. Police suspect it to be from the crime organisation to which Dara was the head of, the Badakshan Syndicate and are investigating the incident.

            Scientists confirm Tasmanians aren't human
Tasmanians are thought to be more closely related to sheep according to new studies
            July 25th

Ever since the country was founded, Mainlanders have joked about Tasmanians. Tasmania has been made fun of mostly for being the only non-mainland state; it's population is so small and the state is so far away from the rest of Australia that many have joked that all Tasmanians are incestuous and related in one way or another, or that they have two heads, or are otherwise mutated.

However, research at the Central Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Wodonga has conducted biological tests on the only two unrelated Tasmanians in the whole world, and have both been found to be at least 50% sheep. On of the test subjects, a 16 year-old girl, was found to be 87% sheep. It was later found, however, that she was a citizen of New Zealand, and her case has since been dismissed.

The second subject, a 26-year-old English Teacher from Beaconsfield, was found to be 50% sheep. Reports where raised when the teacher was found eating grass by a fellow teacher.

As all Tasmanians are related and they're all incestous, it is possible that every Tasmanian is part sheep. It is still unclear how this has happened, but mainlanders are discouraged from engaging with Tasmanians in any way, shape, or form. CSIRO have not ruled out being Tasmanian as contagious, and the government has placed the mainland on high alert.

Jayawijaya Range, Indonesia's Alps

    | Jayapura - You wouldn't thought a country that sits right at the equator had snows right? Well, think again. High above clouds are the Jayawijaya Mountain Range, located right at the center of Papua, creating a definitive border between north and south. Formed by the collision between north and south Papua while the two were divided, it stands proudly as Indonesia's highest mountain. However, the main attraction are its snow. While the mountain range isn't the highest in Southeast Asia (that title belong to Hkakabo Razi in Myanmar), it is however, the most visited. The snow cap stretches from Enartoli to Sumohai. Several interesting locations within the mountain range includes, the Grasberg Mine, Puncak Jaya, and Mandala Peak. The snowy icecaps on the range gave a whole new ambiance. One moment you're in a tropical rainforest, and just a skip away you're suddenly in a snowy land. Some areas were even turned into a ski resort, mainly along the Mandala Peak. On December however, the range is often dangerous, with avalanches and dense fog, not to mention the temperature would drop beyond zero degrees.

Access to Jayawijaya is relatively easy. Visitors can drive from Timika to Tembagapura, albeit with challenging terrains and obstacles. Aerial transportation into the mountains can only be accessed from Oksibil and Wamena.

Historically, the mountain range was relatively unaffected by any major historical events, even during WW2. However, during the Papua War with the Netherlands, several key and decisive battles took place, such as the Battle of Wamena, and the Battle of Illaga. Often described as the "highest land battle", due to the fact that it was fought at 3,000+ meters. The area has been designated as a natural reserve, despite the fact that there are almost no animals living in the mountain range. Climbing the mountain is even more challenging. The range had been characterized as slippery and steep, and despite being one of the lowest out of the other Seven Summits, it's been described as one of the most challenging and dangerous.

The standard route to climb the peak from its base camp is up the north face and along the summit ridge, which is all hard rock surface. Despite the large mine, the area is highly inaccessible to hikers and the general public. The standard route to access base camp as of 2013 is to fly into the nearest major town with an airport, Timika, and then take a small aircraft over the mountain range and onto an unimproved runway at one of the local villages far down from the peak. It is then typically a five-day hike via the Jungle route to the base camp through very dense jungle and with regular rainfall, making the approach probably the "most miserable" of the Seven Summits. Rain during most days of the hike inbound and out are not uncommon. Unlike the other Seven Summits, if one sustains an injury on the inbound hike, there is little or no ability to get rescued via helicopter. Anyone injured must evacuate by foot over very difficult and slippery terrain.

The descent from the peak's base camp can take three to four days. Anecdotally, it appears most injuries occur during the descent due to a combination of exhaustion and difficulty controlling hiking speed on the wet and slippery terrain.

            Queensland, the Unstable State
A dismissal of the State's Parliament being considered by the High Court and Federal Government
            July 25th

Queensland's 'Bloody Sunday' saw Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Democratic Socialist Party loose 4 seats in a single day, being thrown into a position whereby they were leading the state with a minority government. However, since June the 7th, no bills have passed through Queensland's only seat of parliament, the Legislative Assembly.

One of the most important and controversial bills regards Queensland's firearm laws, which seek to relax restrictions on large firearms for people in rural Queensland. In particular, the bill aims to allow easier purchase and accessibility to rifles and other larger firearms in order to better protect Queensland farms and rural properties.

With almost two months of an essentially useless parliament, President Scott Morrison has announced that he is undergoing talks with Australian Chief Justice Susan Mary Kiefel AC on potentially dismissing Queensland's State Parliament. If parliament is dismissed, the State election will either be held almost 3 months early, or the Federal Government or some other appointed committee will serve as Queensland's provisional government.

Morrison announced this morning that DSP QLD leader Annastacia Palaszczuk, NRP leader Deb Frecklington, President Scott Morrison, and the 7 High Court Justices will be meeting this week to decide on their 'battle plan.' Controversy has stirred, however, within some members of Queensland's parliament, who strongly believe Albury-Wodonga should not intervene in Queensland's issues. KAP leader and Member for Traeger Robbie Katter tweeted earlier today that Albury is 'feeding Queensland to the crocs' and 'doesn't give two sh-ts about what Queenslanders want." He later deleted his tweet.
