The Federation of Author-Ity is a small, genial nation, renowned for its rampant corporate plagiarism, smutty television, and frequent executions. The compassionate, cynical population of 40 million Authors are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 74.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but underdeveloped Authorian economy, worth 1.42 trillion argencharneys a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Pizza Delivery, Woodchip Exports, and Trout Farming. Average income is 35,516 argencharneys, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Kindergartners' favourite dance move is the stop-drop-and-roll, the army's use of chemical weapons leaves a bad taste in the mouth, the government is more interested in identifying problems than fixing them, and the canal flows through the land like a twisty turny thing. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Author-Ity's national animal is the huntsman spider.

Author-Ity is ranked 173,194th in the world and 436th in Horizon for Most Developed, scoring 54.03 on the Human Development Index.
