The Republic of Ratio is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-working, democratic population of 4.331 billion Ratioans are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The tiny, pro-business, outspoken government prioritizes Defense, although Welfare, Healthcare, and Public Transport are also considered important, while International Aid and Spirituality are ignored. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.3%.

The strong Ratioan economy, worth 219 trillion pounds a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is fairly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Furniture Restoration, Book Publishing, and Retail. Average income is 50,713 pounds, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 326,852 per year while the poor average 3,179, a ratio of 102 to 1.

Crime is a serious problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Ratio's national animal is the giraffe, which can occasionally be seen sifting through garbage in the nation's cities.

Ratio is ranked 23,910th in the world and 444th in The North Pacific for Largest Gambling Industry, scoring 6,737.08 on the Kelly Criterion Productivity Index.
