The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 1.795 billion Trenmartians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Velmirad. The average income tax rate is 69.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Trenmartian economy, worth 247 trillion Rials a year, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Basket Weaving. The prisoners of Azkatraz have a new emperor, every fourth child is born with flippers instead of hands, garden stores are not allowed to sell water butts, and members of majority races are forced out of their homes to make way for Bigtopians. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Trenmart's national animal is the Persian Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Shia Islam.
