1) What major wars has your nation fought in or contributed to?
2) Has your nation ever had a civil war (in relatively recent history)?
3) What was the biggest crisis for your nation to face in its modern history?

1) Gandenia has fought in two major wars, WW1 and WW2. During WW1 in 1916, a German U-boat and a battle ship accidentally sailed into the waters of Gandenia with a few planes following the two boats. A small battle was fought on the coast between theGandenia National Army and the German army in the Gandenian city of Vistain and in the mountains surrounding the city. During World War Two, in 1943 a very similar occurrence happened when two troop transport ships, a tank transport ship, a battleship, and an aircraft carrier sailed into Gandenian waters near the Gandenian port of Costachen. The Gandenian National Army immediately responded with two thousand troops marching to the front lines. A large battle, the Battle of Costachen was fought. It resulted in the German capture of Costachen, until it was liberated in 1945 in the second battle of Costachen.

2) In 1970, Mohammed Al-Artza came to power. Over the next few years, he gradually became more authoritarian, autocratic, and nationalist, until it became safe to say that he was a dictator. In 1975, the north of Gandenia seceded from the south and with that came a two month war, the first Gandenian Civil War. It was not that long, but the war was bloody and very important historically-speaking. Over the next 50 or so years, South Alta (the southern part of Gandenia ruled by Al-Artza) was constantly firing mortars over hills and mountains towards North Alta, along with small clashes and skirmishes, such as the constant tit-for-tat along the border in the 1990s. In 2010, South Alta invaded the north and within a year, Gandenia was reunited under the Al-Artza regime. North Alta’s government went into exile in Middle Barael. However, rebel groups began to pop up in both the north and south of the country, resizing Al-
Artza’s authoritarian rule and conquests. Middle Barael provided recognition, logistic also support, economic aid, diplomatic help, and training to the rebels. In 2012, the major rebel groups in the south united to form the South Altman Resistance. The General of the SAR was Nonta Ytbaum (who later became the Sovereign). The SAR continued to wage war against the Al-Artza regime in the Second Gandenian Civil War. In March 2020, the South Altman Resistance and the North Altan Government-in-Exile officially merged, to create the Free Gandenian Army. Finally, on May 2nd, 2020, the Free Gandenian Army captured Al-Artza, and he was executed soon after, along with his major commanders. The Free Gandenian Army founded the Commonwealth of Gandenia, led by General Nonta Ytbaum. Still today, small terror groups who were part of Al-Artza’s army, fight against Gandenia. In March, Gandenia liberated the last populated city from the rule of the Al-Artzan holdouts. The remains of Al-Artza’s army now only control some areas in the wilderness. On May 16th, 2021, Sovereign Ytbaum declared a National Peace and ended the martial law, although there is still a large amount of military resends in some areas.

3) The biggest crisis Gandenia has ever faced was for sure the Gandenian Civil War, as it lasted for 45 years. Technically, there were two civil wars, although the Gandenian Conflict includes the First and Second war and the border skirmishes between both wars. For years, soldiers fought, tanks drove, shots were fired, blood was shed, rockets were fired, buildings collapsed, and even now the scars can be felt

1. There are smalls wars happened in Myordas during the Hundred Kingdoms Period but the major one is the Myordan-British Wars, a war that change Myordan history and loss from it. The war was between 50,000 British grenadiers vs. ~200,000 Myordan Hazaborany (Irregular Units, similar to rebels) across ~250 kingdoms. There is lot to cover but to grossly oversimplify, British killed most of the Myordan forces due to British strategies and guns plus they captured them and forced to capitulate the other kingdoms. Also, Myordans during that time only uses spears and trebuchets.

2. Luckily none.

3. Sea Water Levels, Myordas is mostly flat, as flat as Denmark but Myordan government have plans to survive water levels such as constructing floating cities and walling coasts.

Weird enough, i sent a message quoting this post 7 hours ago and it was not sent

1) Other than WWII, its going to be the Arab Wars somewhere in the 16th century. At that time, we have conquered most of South Asia an now aiming for Arabia, but failed even with 6 offenses, causing not less than 600,000 deaths.

2) Not yet.

3) Well since my canon lore has COVID-19 in it, its going to be it, since our economy shrank drastically (which is thriving now for some reason)

1) Chan Island contributes to all sides in just about every major and minor conflict there is, mostly by loaning mercenaries and selling weapons to the various groups.

2) Chan Island actually did have one- canonically, there was some fighting to overthrow the previous dictatorship before establishing this piratical anarchy.

3) Other countries investing in their navies has been a huge economic concern for the nation. Just makes things so much harder!

Haven't answered the other LQWs, mostly due to lack of developed lore, but this one is easy enough:

1) Lura is conflict averse, and instead cultivates strong diplomatic relationships. The Luran Armed Forces are small in size and exist solely for self defence. They have never actually needed to be used.

2) Prior to unification, Tajela and Rijenja were essentially rivals, and they were not terribly friendly. That said, nothing more than posturing ever really occurred at the border. After unification, tensions between the two former kingdoms' citizens were high, but the diarchs acted as a glue to prevent escalation. Eventually, the tense period came to an end as prejudices were lost to time.

3) Lura is rarely in crisis, but around 150 years ago, Lura experienced a considerable interregnum period lasting about 8 years. Lura's first, and at this point in time, only, reigning dynasty had come to an end. The Luran royal line had a tradition of only having one child, which for hundreds of years has not been a problem, but now that the closest descendent to the late Tsaritsa had to be found, the closest link was incredibly distant in the family tree. It would take many years of trawling through archives to find Lura's next monarch.

The government was paralysed by the lack of monarch as even the largely devolved powers of the monarch at this point in time were still necessary. The government would eventually choose to break protocol to prevent political stagnation and decay and bypass the monarch's role in the political process entirely. This system, while unprecedented and probably illegal, worked well enough that upon the end of the interregnum, the new Tsar agreed to complete the devolution process officially, causing Lura to become a true constitutional monarchy.

Ok, now I’ll answer my own LQW

1) Middle Barael is incredibly pacifist, with the existential value of pacifism even being written into the 1967 constitution (which is still used today). However, Middle Barael has fought in a couple wars.

Middle Barael did not yet exist for WW1 and WW2, but the nations to precede Middle Barael did. The Republic of Cothon declared war on the Central Powers during WW1, and ~14,300 troops volunteered for the front lines. The State of Barael, however, did not participate in WW1. During WW2, both the Republic of Cothon and the State of Barael declared war on the Axis Powers. In 1943, a small German military vessel accidentally sailed into the waters of Middle Barael in the ocean between the cities of Bellamonte and Minerva. Cothon and Barael together managed to sink the ship, capture most of the German soldiers, and rescue the 4 English POWs being held on the ship. This was the first joint military exercise between Cothon and Barael, and arguably the joint military exercises following this encounter were a major factor in the unification of Cothon and Barael to form modern Middle Barael.

Middle Barael also contributed logistical support, economic aid, military training, diplomatic recognition and support, and medical aid to the South Altan Resistance and the North Altan Government-in-Exile during the Gandenian Civil War. Middle Barael actually allowed the North Altan Government-in-Exile to live in Middle Barael during their exile, and Middle Barael was the first nation to recognize the rebel government over the Al-Artzi regime following the merger of the South Altan Resistance and the North Altan Government-in-Exile. Middle Barael never actively fought in the war, but they did provide crucial support to the rebel cause, and without Middle Barael, Gandenia may still have been ruled by Al-Artza today.

Parts 2 and 3 shall come later today

Issue No. 1,310 is about a rising amount of inbreeding, and it even gives you five options...but all of them are to combat it, either by...

- making it illegal to have children with your second cousin or closer
- ending the country's stupidity by increasing science funding
- stopping a policy of anti-science and bring in gene editing
- lifting the ban on immigration to bring a wider gene pool
- lifting the ban on cars to let people get around more

Which are all ways to solve it, sure.

But where's the option to just let things be? I want my stupid, primitive, and isolated nation where all modern technology is banned! Guess I'll be dismissing this one.

The dismiss button is the "let things be" option, as you have correctly guessed. In my presentation on issue writing for the Nation States Great Exhibition earlier this year, this was a key point I sought to make on the subject. Specifically:

It is important that each option you present be an "active" choice, which is to say, the choice needs to do something! A person arguing "just ignore this" is no different than clicking the dismiss button, and does not belong in your issue.

I suspect this is a significant motivator behind many of the issue dismissals in the game! If you're happy with how things are going, you can just ignore the citizens asking for it to change. As issue #568 itself says... "Your paper shredder looks at you, knowingly. It doesn't talk, of course, but you know what it's trying to say."

That's fair enough. I suppose I'm too used to issues having a "why change things?" option!

"Your paper shredder looks at you, knowingly. It doesn't talk, of course, but you know what it's trying to say."

This is one of the great truisms of life, I think. The impulse to simply allow the status quo to persist, and to embrace the pleasurable nihilism of paper shredders...

1) We fought against a Sassanid Persian invasion, a few Arab invasions, two Portuguese invasions, a major Omani-Zanzibari invasion, and resisted Italian & British colonization for a number of years before regaining our independence. Sadly, a long civil war happened soon after.
2) Yes, it was about whether or not a small protected Christian minority had the right to catch and consume fish.
3) Anglo-Italian colonization severely suppressed traditional norms, societal roles, and political institutions. Also, the Hashadoomani War for Fishing rights was very important.
