Wintermoot II wrote:So what you're saying is that you...look for and then dominate rears. xD

What I've seen happen in most games I play is that one or two nations come to dominate all the others around them through wars and then fall to whatever mid or late game crisis, usually the Khanate when it arises. I haven't played a game since last summer, so it might have changed, but maybe the Stellaris AI is just responding to your warmongering with love lol.

No, they do it when I'm an upstanding guy too. I consistently get the same behaviors every time I play.

New N-Day Poll in Warhammer 40000!
Exterminatus now!
page=poll/p=210754

Since we're talking about polls, Wintreath has a poll open for what you most like doing in NationStates ^-^ region=wintreath#poll

I also took a look at NH's polls. One of the last polls was if people wanted a poll every week, and then seven years later here was are. :D

I need to start with something more basic than that: a hobby that's not on the computer. xD

My kitchen is too small to have a table, but I have some ideas...maybe the other side of my L-shaped desk, or the folding desk I mostly use to eat on right now.

You're not going to respond to my incredibly witty insight into your gameplay? xD

I don't know then...I wonder why the outcomes in your games are different than mine then? It has to be some response to us as players I'd think...

Nope.

I wonder... How many DLCs do you have?

I'm glad you've accepted my insights without resistance. :)

As of the last time I played, I probably had about half the DLC. Since then I've been trying to get more up-to-date on DLC, so I have everything but Astral Planes and Galactic Paragons now. I couldn't tell you where I was back then, though besides somewhere around half the DLC.

I've been playing with everything except toxoids and astral planes.

I'll see what happens next time I play a game. I'm thinking of playing one after I've finished Portia.

Space Marines? I sleep. Imperial Guard? Real s***.

Aragonn wrote:Space Marines? I sleep. Imperial Guard? Real s***.

I was limited to 12 options. So some had to be combined.

Beinirham wrote:I was limited to 12 options. So some had to be combined.

Fair enough. I still cast my vote anyway.

I voted for the most popular one, cause I'm a poser :D

It's also the one Ara voted for, so that gives me confidence that it's the right choice

By coincidence, I was going to post about Wintreath's new poll today: How did you come up with your nation flag?
page=poll/p=211238

You don't have a found & moified option, so I just picked found. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Astra Militarum all the way.

Tau made my flag for me to match the other flags we were using in the region at the time. The one he made for me had both stripes green, and the symbol had softer edges with specks of white around it from what I assume are from the image he chose to use for the flag. I threw it into MS Paint to clean it up and sharpen the symbol then change the one stripe to be blue.

That's fair. I voted the AI option, but I actually fed it my original flag that I created when I joined NS, so mine could be two options too. Just hard to put all the possibilities into a poll

No clue what you said, but I'll nod. :D

That reminds me, I've noticed that a lot of flags in NH have the two diagonal stripes at the bottom-right like the NH flag. Do they symbolize anything beyond being part of the regional flag?

The official name for the Imperial Guard is Astra Militarum. It's High Gothic for space army. It also sounds fancier than Imperial Guard.

Tau can probably answer that one better than me. My memory on that one is very faded.

I guess it does sound fancier...though I'm a little concerned that a military force is concerned with how fancy their name is. I get pre-split Wintreath people wanting shiny titles and status symbols vibes here. :P

They're not concerned with how fancy their name sounds. High Gothic is what the people in positions of power speak in 40k. Regular Gothic is what just about everyone else speaks. It's kind of like the difference between proper French and Quebecoise French. One is proper and sounds elegant while the other is not so great.

I'm not sure people in Quebec would agree with you there.

So what you're saying is that it's the people in power who want to sound and look fancy, not the space army. :P

It's like the difference between speaking proper English an' then speakin' like y'don' care 'bout how y'sound.

But Astra Militiarum doesn't sound English at all xD

I guess after years of Wintreath experimenting with Nordic names for things, I just like the simple titles. Who can remember such names as Hvitt Riddaral, Skydande Vakt, or Rollspelskra? Seems like everytime I finally memorize the spelling we stop using it lol

Wintermoot II wrote:But Astra Militiarum doesn't sound English at all xD

I already told you it's High Gothic. I thought you listened.

How are those any less fancy than Astra Militarum?

Wintermoot II wrote:But Astra Militiarum doesn't sound English at all xD

The Imperium doesn't really classify languages according to the school of linguistics. They simply have High Gothic, which is this weird pseudo-Latin language, and Low Gothic, which is literally just what they call any local planetary dialect that isn't High Gothic.

Aragonn wrote:I already told you it's High Gothic. I thought you listened.

This comes off as weirdly hostile. If Wintermoot annoyed you, I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose. :(

We have a new, simple poll this week in Wintreath: Capitalism or Communism?

They're not, they're examples of why I prefer simple names over fancy ones. I thought you listened. :P

I guess that makes for easy classification! And I guess a lot of people think that anything that sounds Latin-ish is fancy...

Rhina wrote:This comes off as weirdly hostile. If Wintermoot annoyed you, I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose. :(

You're the second person to tell him that this week. xD

Actually, Ara's a great friend, even if I annoy him sometimes lol. I appreciate how he puts up with me. :)

Rhina wrote:This comes off as weirdly hostile. If Wintermoot annoyed you, I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose. :(

He knows I'm just giving him a bit of banter, but if it makes you feel better I'll stick a :P at the end next time to make it more obvious I'm messing with him.

How is Astra Militarum not simple? It's literally just two words, and it's really easy to discern what they mean because they sound almost exactly like the English translation.
