Ah yes...the beginning. Practically nothing is known about this era, however most modern Utopians are highly religious and like to think that God created Valsora, among other things, in one week. This is where the religious world and scientific world branch off—the most religious citizens in the HUR believe God created the first two humans in a sort of limbo state known as the Garden of Eden. The two humans were supposedly unaware of morality and lived in complete paradise for an unknown period of time. In short, they eventually ended up on Valsora and began civilization. This is in stark contrast to the scientific community who believes that mankind, along with sub-humans evolved from apes and other mammals.

Nobody knows for sure where mankind began, however most believe it began in Usnistan. These early humans and sub-humans slowly evolved to be more intelligent and self aware. They eventually discovered society, created economics, began trading, and most important of all: They began forming different tribes and factions. The earliest known tribes in modern day HUR are the Chat’ka people. These people lived near mountains and rivers, basically anything that could get them away from the vast deserts. Along fertile land these people prospered and developed far faster. Eventually the Chat’ka identity would dissolve as civilization took hold. The idea of divine right was formed and the word “Sultan” was created to represent their Kings.

As society advanced, so did technology and culture. Temples were built to the Gods, many of which can still be seen in the eastern HUR. The largest of these temples still intact is the famous “Tower of Gold” located in Talix. The tower was remarkably tall for the time and was literally made from solid gold. Luckily, it is under the protection of the national park service. As the many different tribes and kingdoms fought one in particular rose to immense power, conquering much of the eastern HUR and western Levantin. It was known as the Kim’tok Dynasty. The dynasty rose to power through marriage and conquest. It ruled central Unistan for centuries before collapsing due to lack of vital military technology. After the collapse of this dynasty, no other kingdom would rise to such power ever again. Not long after the Kim’tok Dynasty collapsed the coastal tribes and kingdoms would be in for the shock of their lives when they make contact with Hispanic traders & merchants in 683 AD. The traders, thankfully, were not interested in conquering the tribes since the idea of colonialism had not yet been implemented. The following century would see vast economic growth along the western Unistani coasts, with Hispanic traders bringing many riches and other wonderful things from the western world.

After the Kim’tok Dynasty collapsed, the tribes in western and central Usnistan slowly but surely stopped technological innovation and entered the stagnation period. This period is the #1 reason colonizers from western nations like the Hispanics and Germans were able to conquer so much so easily. The great stagnation period lasted all the way to the 16th century. Obviously “stagnation” doesn’t mean the complete end of innovation, many famous people and philosophers dreamed of more innovation however their Kings and Queens were too lazy to care. It was in 1523 that the many Hispanic traders and merchants along the western Unistani coast stopped trade completely and began the conquest of Unistan. It is still debated as to why they suddenly wanted Unistan, but most believe it was ordered by their King.

1523 was the first known year western colonizers from the Hispanic Dynasty (Shavara) made contact beyond the western coast. By 1537 the Hispanics had taken control of most of the western Usnistan coast. The kingdoms and Sultinates did what they could to repel the Hispanic, with some using captured technology and others banding together in confederacies. The most famous of these confederacies roughly translates to “The Freedom Movement” and was made up of dozens of kingdoms with a loose council controlling the confederacy. Each of the alliances, kingdoms, and other nations did their best to repel the Hispanics but in the end it was no use. In 1612 the Hispanics founded the “Dubokia” colony north of modern HUR. The Dubokia colony was home to a small amount of people and was the easiest to conquer as well as the most submissive. It took another 40 years to conquer the “Utopia territory” but by 1654 the Utopia colony was founded.

Many people wonder “Why are people in the HUR called Utopians?” Well, in 1604 Hispanic conquistador Hernando Santiago named the coast of modern HUR “Utopia” due to its immense beauty. The name stuck and the Hispanics classified the territory as the “Utopia Colony”. It was around this time in 1622 when the Germans established their first coastal trading posts south of modern HUR. The Utopia territory would at first support the Hispanics since they were developing their territory and bringing immense trading wealth. However, it didn’t take long for the Hispanics to show their true colors. In 1661 the Sanquis Inquisition was expanded to the colonies and the first purges were conducted on non-Catholics. In total, an estimated 2 million died from these purges. Minor revolts took place in 1703 but were brutally suppressed. As a statement, the Hispanics burned the oldest landmark in the HUR. It is still unknown what exactly the landmark was since all records of it were destroyed.

The colonies in Dubokia and Utopia developed and continued on the same trend for a century, with any riots being put down and the continuous purging of non-Catholics. In 1831 the Hispanics implemented a policy which mandated that 75% of all excess wealth the colonies had would be transferred to the mainland. This completely infuriated the colonists which led to the 1845 riots which saw the colonists take complete control of the capital city, Fuerte Cresta. They controlled the city for 2 years until they were starved into submission by the Hispanics. The dread the siege had brought to the colony led to an absolute hatred of all mainland Hispanics, which was completely in contrast to the Dubokians in the north who were very submissive to the mainland Hispanics.

By the 20th century the world was changing. As the west was advancing so would the colonies. However, there was something else that the 20th century brought to the world: the spark of revolution. In 1912 the Shavaran revolution took place in the mainland Hispanic Dynasty. These revolutions brought hope to the colonies, and with the Dynastics occupied elsewhere the Utopia colony declared open revolution just 8 months after the start of the Shavaran revolution. The coastal territories were the first to rebel as they were the most hateful towards the Dynastics. The revolutionaries were merciless in anyone who supported the Dynastics. In 1913 the colonial administration palace was raided. It took weeks to clear the building of any opposition, but once the remaining loyalists in the building surrendered they were put on upside down crosses and burned in the center of town.
The revolution may have been extremely strong in the coast, but more inland the people didn’t care since they were very undeveloped and lived much simpler lives. Due to the lack of support inland, It became the primary goal of the revolutionaries to conquer Dubokia and bring them into Utopia.

In 1914 the revolutionaries launched the invasion into Dubokia with the goal of taking the coastal cities. This invasion would end up being a humiliating defeat, with every military officer involved being burned. The revolutionaries than began to concentrate in the East and captured as many towns as their supply lines would let them. By 1916 the Shavaran revolution in the mainland would come to a close with the Shavarans winning. The Shavarans offered the Utopian colony independence as long as they recognized Dubokia as theirs. And so, in late 1916 the treaty was signed and just like that the Utopia colony was now free. With the revolution over it became time to found a new government. The people wanted to be as different from the Shavarans and so a right-wing government was formed in early 1917. The government consisted of the President, Congress, and other local governments. This bare-bones government would become the foundation for the strong central government we see today in modern HUR.

In 1920 clashes began with the German colony Hohenzburg over a small island between them. The Utopians had the revolutionary spirit still raging inside them and so local militias decided to invade Hohenzburg without consent from the federal government. At first the large numbers the Utopians had proved vital however in the end the Kampfian troops would push them back. In 1932 a white peace was declared and the island would be formally split. In 1944 the nation held its first elections with the first president, 5-star General Nicolás Cruz dying. The right-wing coalition would emerge on top once more and would decide to expand frantically Eastward. The following decades would be known as the “Economic Haven” with the HUR growing extremely rapidly in economics and culture. Many more states would soon be added to the union as they expanded eastward more and more. The HUR would use its expanding wealth to purchase the Peñaranda islands off the coast of Shavara (now renamed to “San Sierra”).

The 21st century would be known as the Rise of Francisco Kingsley. His rise would mark a dramatic shift in policy and ideology, however through charisma and media support Kingsley would be loved by his people. In 2008 Kingsley would enter politics as the governor of Santa Cruz. His term as governor would be extremely prosperous for the state, with large public works projects being started and finished. After his extremely successful term Kingsley would run for President in 2014 and win. At the time he was simply a member of the nations Conservative party and at first wasn't unlike past leaders. That is, until the 2015 Templar crisis. The Templar crisis would start with a religious coup in Restoration of Eastern Kaiserreich. The HUR was one of the First Nations targeted by the Templars, and as a result thousands died through covert purges and kidnapping. Francisco Kingsley would be hated for letting this happen, however he was able to defend himself and prove his loyalty to the people by successfully defending Peñaranda from Kampf Empire. Later in 2017 Kingsley was involved in the creation of the Hispanic Federation, which was a loose federation between the HUR and San Sierra.

Kingsley would run for President two more times in 2020 and 2026 and win each time. Throughout his terms he would expand the military and territory. In 2024 Kingsley would put immense pressure on The death syndicate and partition their colony with Hohenzburg. Around the same time The HUR would become embroiled in the Communist Cold War which caused the highest world tension Valsora had ever seen and lasted for a decade. In 2032 Kingsley would step down and the massive left-wing coalition led by Victoria Lopez would win the elections. In 2033 Lopez would adopt an Autarky policy which was heavily criticized by right-wing leaders such as Kingsley for being “pointless and destructive”. Lopez’s weakness on foreign policy would also prove decisive in her public hatred. In 2035 Kingsley would re-enter politics and found the “Utopian-Honorite” party based on the Honorite party in Osterreich und ungarn. The following year Kingsley would use his immense power base to stage a coup and overthrow Lopez. Lopez would be executed and Kingsley would immediately reverse her policies. Kingsley slowly began giving himself more and more power, raising President term lengths from 6 years to 20 years. He would also pass “Anti-Communist” laws which practically eliminated all left-wing politicians in Congress. In 2039 Kingsley would invade and annex the Kingdom of Seleyth to his East. It was a massive popularity boost and helped bolster his power base. In 2040 the Hispanic Federation was disbanded due to lack of cohesion and no outside threats.

The Utopian Oligarchs are a group of companies who hold large power in the government. Back when Francisco Kingsley staged his famous Honorite coup he needed support, and so he leaned on the nation’s largest companies. As a result, the current Honorite government is dominated by these corrupt oligarchs.
The same year It seemed that the introduction of the Eviría as the HUR’s currency has proved decisive in the economy, with many oligarchs noticing their businesses skyrocketing up the Valsora stock markets. President Kingsley planned on increasing government spending 10 fold in the wake of this economic golden age. However, there has been much debate over where this new found wealth should go. President Kingsley believes the money should be invested back into the nation in the form of large public works projects. In contrast, the Utopian oligarchs want the money to be invested in resource extraction. President Kingsley drafted an address stating that the HUR will be the #1 oil exporter by the end of the decade along with other ambitious goals. He also stated that the HUR would significantly lower tariffs in exchange for western investment.

With the massive economic boom in full swing, economists predicted it would be soon followed by the Utopian economic bubble bursting and a dramatic collapse of the economy in general. They were correct. With Presidente Kingsley granting himself ever growing powers in an effort to “protect democracy” and the widespread corruption throughout the Honorite council, Congress, and largest nation corporations, the writing was on the wall. In 2036, Black Wednesday struck the HUR. The stock market experienced the largest collapse in Unistani history, and the GDP was down by 12% in a single day. President Kingsley would grant himself emergency powers to “see the nation through the crisis” and declared himself Eternal Leader of the nation alongside President of the Republic. The largest companies such as Four Seasons Oil received government bailouts using the only remaining wealth reserves the banks had left. The people, who were largely dissatisfied with the situation and blaming Kingsley and the oligarchs for letting the situation get so out of hand, rioted. The Policía de Honor was deployed as a military force and famously crushed the riots in Freedom Square.

The underdeveloped eastern territories of the HUR were the next to succumb. With the federal government being unable to expend any resources on the eastern desert, society slowly collapsed until the region was de facto independent of any centralized rule, save for small communes and tribal governments. The HUR, in an effort to detach itself from the situation in the east, then officially declared its full withdrawal from the “unstable and counterproductive” eastern states. However, using the worldwide influence of the Oil oligarchs, the HUR was able to secure various coastal ports across Valsora.

Today, the HUR stands as a bastion of hypocrisy. While still holding the 3rd largest oil export economy, the GDP has fallen dramatically and the economy is now almost fully reliant on the oil exports. Still boasting to be the most free nation in Valsora, the government is obviously seen as one of corruption and untrustworthy throughout the international community. The emergency powers granted to President Kingsley were never removed, and the nation moves closer to totalitarianism by the day. Press censorship, constant arrests by the now fully militarized Policía de Honor, and propaganda have become the order of the day. The nation has truly fallen under the grip of the Honorite party.
