Laws like that only exist because someone argued themselves out of a guilty verdict using sh*t like that.

Evrigenis wrote:I was being generous when I said fixing the RDSS would take a year.1,2 If you'd also like to send computers, feel free, but people are a no-go for at least another month and a half (if you sent something to help with repairs) and a few months (if you don't) just to fix life support.

1See here for the complexity of just the air system on the ISS: https://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/engineering/life_support_systems/air_and_water_systems_testing/air/index.html
2I spent a while trying to calculate that timeframe, and a few considerations included the advancement in actual life-system-support technology (and therefore complexity to repair), advancements in robotic repair technology, and time to fix mistakes made during the fixes. New tech for the first part would likely supersede the second part, especially since space stations are intended to be crewed (and repaired by skilled humans in real time). If this were real, I'd project about three years of robot-only repair to fix an internally bombed ISS... But it's not and a year is much more fun.

In the meantime,

A pair of Evrigenese citizens are outside of a postal office. They speak quietly as they leave together into the night.

Light asks Argus, "Do you know why we were selected?"
Argus replies grimly, "No. But we must."
Light tries to lighten up Argus' mood, "It would be a change of pace..."
Argus stifles a laugh, "So like you Light. See you later."

The envelope they have just sent contains the following information:

Name: Light Cloud
Gender: F
Occupation: Computer Scientist
Purpose for Visit: To teach Δέλτα to at least one Death Syndicate RDSS crewmember
Duration of Stay: 90 days or less

Name: Argus Sehad
Gender: M
Occupation: Diplomat
Purpose for Visit: To be a point of contact between Evrigenis and The Death Syndicate for matters relating to the RDSS
Duration of Stay: 90 days or less

Visa applications to The Death Syndicate.

You are, of course, free to reject the applications. However, using the RDSS' facilities will be nearly impossible without knowing the programming language Δέλτα, and it will be smoother to have a point person for anything that might come up relating to the RDSS or otherwise (like maybe a friendly IC martial arts sparring match). I'd rather have you know this now than by the time your astronauts get there and have nothing work.

...
The COIA accepts this for now, and sends a enigmatic encryptions specialist and a computer science specialist to Evrigenis. However, they still don't really know what the heck Lerasi did to their beautiful Super Bomber, which is now a simple space station.
They also begin to design a small single-stage to orbit shuttle to be launched via the MAC array to hurry the repairs. They will send crew members who are veterans of the Cthulhu blitz, and know the original RD like the back of their hand. What they will see will be... new to them.

Note: the spacecraft being built will be heavily influenced by missile design. Because, it's just simpler that way.

Western pakistan

Western pakistan wrote:
“Orders, sir,” asks an officer. “Have heavy artillery barrage to soften up the city so our sepoys and grenadiers can move in,” responds the general. The officer obliges, “I’ll see it done.” He rides off to the field guns and gives the order. The guns gave a deafening roar as they were let loose, their shells making a glowing arch in the night sky as they fell towards Ahmedabad. A great cloud of fire and dust is seen over the city’s walls, followed by a muffled blast and crash of bricks, mortar and stone. “Hurrah, I think we’ve scored a hit,” cheered the officer.

The sepoys and grenadiers gazed in awe as the walls of the city fell. “If this keeps on going, they’ll surrender without even a fight,” remarked a sepoy. “I sure hope so,” commented another.

After 2 or 3 hours the guns abruptly fell silent. So much so that the men could hear one another breathe, a cricket chirp, and the ticking of a watch owned by a Palestinian corporal from La Xinga. He gazed the horizon. Almost daybreak, he thought. He looked at his watch. It read 6:58. He looked back at his company one last time. He finally mustered enough strength to cry out, “إصلاح الحراب, fix bayonets!” He looked at the city in front of him. Two-hundred fifty yards, he thought, oh Allah, please help us all. And with that, he drew out his sword and whistle, muttered, “أَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطٰانِ الرَّجِيْمِ‎, بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحْيم,” and blew his whistle.

P.S: 1.) I tried.
2.) I gotta go.

The sepoys and grenadiers went over the top and ran like madmen, chanting, “الله أكبر,” over and over again. Their boots kicking up sand, leaving a cloud of dust trailing behind them. For a few seconds, nothing stopped their advance toward the city. But the defenders had regained control of themselves and rallied to their battered battlements. They picked their targets, aimed down their sights at the advancing rows of infantry, and open fire.

“Should we prepare a second wave, sir,” asked the officer. “Yes. Send some more men to help the assaulting party, and dispatch some more to the trenches if a second wave should be needed,” ordered the general. “Yessir.”

Wait, did we ever issue that apology to TNP for the mindless spam (which could be called a raid) for 50k on their RMB?

"One more thing. I'd like to make it clear in this agreement, that for now at least - we will only be building up to frigates for you."
He needed that made clear, though the rest of it was perfectly okay for him.

She looked him squarely in his single eye as she quoted him, "I remember you said, 'we will produce nothing larger than a frigate.' It is a deal." She wondered if he would accept her offer of a handshake now and tested her hypothesis by extending her right arm as she stood.

She began to think about her plans for the day: after this, she would have lunch and meet with Glaucon and Adeimantus. In conjunction with Oliver Grover, they had prepared a briefing for her meeting with The sennheiser union. She would then read Kallipolis Weekly's third issue, and address issues at home. After the new year, she would finally meet her hosts.
