“You look like our Tyrannos.” Artemis would mutter, but still be audible enough for Athena to hear.

Athena would give a small laugh at the flamboyant and crazy display of the Flower Child “I appreciate your kind words. Yours too Arty. And I wouldn’t worry about the Minutemen too much. Judging by our reports, they’re in complete shambles. I would be surprise if they even could agree to send someone.”

She walked over to the window to see the monorail pulling into the station.

“Well. Well. It seems our “honored” guests have arrived. We’ll be meeting them in the Parlor. Let’s be sure to give them a show.” She said as she began to head to the door. The other bosses began to follow after her.

Flower looked at Jinx, the Jester mask's eyes stared deep within her soul. He slowly gave a wave, although it felt as if the Jester mask was staring through her soul. Flower began laughing hysterically, walking with the other bosses.

[Flower Child] "Welcome to Nuka World 'Jinx'! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Chapter 1, Part 1: A Lamb and It's God

Elder Black: "Look, Paladin, I will not tolerate this nonsense talk, especially from you!"

Elder Black banged his fist on the metal table he had been using as a desk. Black was never one to yell at his own son, so this was obviously a point of anger for Evan's father.

Paladin Black: "Fine, Father, But you need to contemplate who the next elder is going to be, lest the Reformists take an opportunity to sieze power."

Paladin Black left the room, his boots clanking in the hallways, slowly fading sound filling them.

Chapter 1, Part 2: Rapid City, USA

Rapid City had a few nukes dropped on it, it was some of the least of China's Concerns, as it hosted Barely any obvious Pre-War Infrastructure. Vault-Tec had only built one or two vaults in or near the city, but at least the Experiments were tame compared to most of the Twisted Vault-Tec experiments.

The Towering, rusting skyscrapers of Rapid City were the largest things around, and made for good hideouts, shelters, or hangouts. The BoS had been lucky to be based underground, as the winters were horrible as the rivers would freeze. Rapid Creek, the river of which the city was named after, had now become a vernal river, only ever flowing in the spring, and drying up or freezing during all other parts of the year.

The Roads were cracked, broken, or in the case of the more minor roads, gone.

Eerie sounds, no matter the season, always filled the city. Sometimes distant Gunshots would ring out, other times, the winds would whisper in the city, spooking wastelanders big and small, old and young.

The Great Winter had not been too kind on the city, however, as the harsh conditions had caused some of the skyscrapers to collapse, forming the "Metal Timberlands", where men would go to die for their family, their cause, their faction. It had been infested by raiders, ghouls, Yao-Gui, and even Canadian Radstag.

While Rapid City wasn't very populous during the pre-war era, but it had proved to be a beacon of hope in a land of n'er-do-wells. Frozen Hell was South Dakota, and it's northern Brother seemed much farther than it actually was.

To the south was a haven for all that of evil, Raiders, Feral Ghouls, irradiated wastes stretched for miles.

But the Brotherhood of Steel would Change That.

They had advanced so far from being a rag-tag chapter that nearly resorted to cannabilism to survive, no no, this was the new North Dakota, A New Hope. Expeditions had saved them. Black, An Elder Born Northward who lived east of the Mississippi for his teen years, had saved the Chapter, brought it a new meaning to what it mean to be a Knight, a Paladin, a Sentinel, A Scribe.

The Brotherhood of Steel, at least in North Dakota, was no longer wandering in the dark.

Not all that Wander are Lost.

Blood, Honor, and Steel

Prologue - Dallas, Texas | October 16, 2161 | 09:10 PM Zulu |

The Brotherhood Vertibirds flew in formation, high above the rusted and ruined skyscrapers of Dallas. The locals down below were astonished by the newcomers and their newfound technology as they had never seen such “thing” exist, only rumors. Many thought it was a bunch of giant metal birds, while others thought it was “giant pieces of floating junk.” Although, many who were from farther South and had heard of the Brotherhood of Steel, knew what it was along with some caravaners. The formation of vertibirds landed and their passengers disembarked in full Brotherhood of Steel, T-45 Power Armor and uniform. Head Paladin Jennifer Nova was the senior commander of this operation and the Brotherhood Recovery Patrol team assigned by the High Elder, Edwin Rhombus and Head Scribe Joshua Hayden themselves. ”Alright, listen up.” She said as the team gathered around her. “We here to recover any pre-war tech this old urban city might have and set up an Outpost so we can coordinate and communicate with our Brothers and Sisters back in Oiltown (Austin). Knights Lantham and Klotz, you will lead your team down that empty street down there. Take Initiate Chaffin and Initiate Erickson with you. Find us a place to set up shop and watch for any hostiles.” The two Knights nodded, “Yes, maam!” They then brought the two Initiates and went onto their objectives. “Paladin Cross and Knight Reeves, you will travel with Initiate Clarke and Senior Initiate Morgan and find us any pre-war tech you might scavenge and keep your eyes open for any hostiles.” She said. “Yes, ma’am! Come on brothers, lets go.” Paladin Cross said as they set out to find their objectives. “The rest of you will follow me, and stay close and tight.” She said as she set out in to the deep depths of the ruins of Dallas. She got on her radio, “Also, be sure to use your radio and check in periodically.” The radio responded with static but the two squads had responded, “Copy that!” Knight Lantham said. “Roger that Paladin.” Paladin Cross responded. The Vertibirds left and began their return journey back to home base as the Brotherhood of Steel continued their search.

Chapter 1 - Outpost Delta

“Golf 1-1, to Golf Actual, this is Paladin Cross, we are taking heavy fire from some raiders!” He said over the radio. “I copy, Golf 1-1, what’s your location?” Paladin Nova responded. “A few klicks out from the LZ, near the abandoned basketball stadium!” He yelled over the gunfire. “Copy that, heading over there now.” She said. “Change of plans, boys and girls, we’re headed over to assist our brother Cross in help dealing with some raiders.” Her squad quickly moved to rush in to help. After a few minutes, they finally arrived and was immediately thrown into combat. “MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!” Nova yelled, commanding her forces. “HOSTILE LEFT! HOSTILE LEFT!” Paladin Cross yelled. Nova and Cross had taken a few hits, however, their Power Armor had shielded them from the bullets, surprising the raiders. “Go! Go! Go! I got you!” Initiate Clarke said. “Cover me! Reloading!” Senior Initiate Morgan said as she reloaded her automatic laser rifle. She then peeked from her cover and vaporized an attacking raider. Knights Lantham and Klotz, along with their squad, joined the fight and began to spray down the raiders with their gatling lasers, miniguns, and laser rifles. Astonished by this technology, the Raiders quickly retreated. “Ad Victoriam, Motherf*ckers!” Morgan yelled. She then quickly reloaded a few more fusion cells into her automatic laser rifle before rendezvousing with Paladin Nova. “Good job people, we drove them away. Now, don’t let this stray away from our mission objecti-” The gunfire and battle had attracted attention that Super Mutants had arrived and began attacking the Brotherhood team. “SH!T! MUTIES!” Nova yelled. “GET TO COVER! GET TO COVER!” She quickly grabbed Lantham’s gatling laser and began to vaporize the attacking Super Mutants. “TAKE THIS YOU GREEN F*CKS.” She said as she continued to advance. The others provided support fire taking out a few other Super Mutants. All of a sudden, a Super Mutant manages to gain the upper hand and knock down Paladin Cross with a bullet laced with an Armor Piercing coat. “1-1 is DOWN! 1-1 is Down!” Initiate Chaffin yells as she kneeled over his body. “SH!T!” Nova yelled. The fight continued to ensue but finally, was successful and the Brotherhood was able to drive them off. Nova ran over to the wounded Paladin to check on him, “You alright soldier!? Can you stand up?!” She said. Cross nodded and Knight Lantham helped him up.

“I-I think I’m fine.” He said in a raspy voice. Nova pointed at the two Initiates, Morgan and Chaffin, “You two, take Knight Klotz and find us a place to set up! Hurry!” She said. The two nodded and the group quickly set off to find a place to stay while Nova, Lantham and a few members of their squads stayed with the wounded Paladin. After a few hours, Initiate Morgan came over the radio, “Tombstone 3 to Golf Actual, come in, over.” She said. “I read you, Tombstone 3, status check?” Nova asked. “Green and clear, ma’am. We found a place we can hole up.” She said. “Where at?” Nova responded. “Due 5 klicks east of where you are right now, an abandoned radio station.” She replied. “Good job, Initiate, we’ll head over there right now.” After a few hours of searching, the group finally made it. Lantham and Nova set down Paladin Cross on nearby makeshift bed as the rest of the patrol began to prepare for the arrival of the backup crew.

Moments later, another Vertibird formation flies over and lands near the abandoned radio station as its passengers, a team of Scribes and a couple of backup Brotherhood troops disembarked and escorted inside the now Brotherhood Outpost. As the Scribes and backup troops enter and begin doing their duties, one Scribe approaches Nova. “Aah, Head Paladin Nova.” He says. “Yes, who are you?” Nova asks. “My name is Head Scribe Kalvan Morrison, Head Scribe Hayden assigned me to this location.” He says. “I assume you completed your mission?” Nova shook her head. “Negative, we got ambushed by raiders and Super Mutants, and I currently have one Paladin wounded.” She said. Kalvan shouted for the medical crew and a couple of scribes carrying a box first aid, stimpaks, and some blood bags came running and rushed over to treat the wounded Paladin. “Well, I shall contact Home base and tell them that your mission is still ongoing.” Morrison said. “Yes, of course.” He then walks off to brief the team of Scribes on their duties. Nova quietly whispers a prayer for Cross and walks off to patrol the area.

Federal troops have finally been authorized to begin War Plan indigo and to return the Ghouls to a Homeland of their own within the Federation. The first area of Northern Indiana put on the chopping block was the once thriving town of Angola a now raider den. Which has nearly taken over the entire general area. However, upon asking some of the Ghouls of New Belfast this is just a small squadron for massive raider force in Indiana lead by a rumored person called Attila. It is also said that this Atilla is dedicated to spreading the ideas of tribalism and a great "Indianian State" thought the wasteland as such whether these are truly raiders or a barbaric savages is hard to say however, the federation has begun preparing for a siege of the town to prepare to whipe out the raider nest which appeared to not have firearms but rather bows and melee weaponry. In the preparation for the siege was decided to not use missiles but rather landmines and grenades and snipers thus after the planting of explosives and traps around the town the beginning of sniper fire on archers commenced while Federal Infantry waited back for the enemy to come to them. As such when the Atillian Forces went out to charge they loss lives from the explosives eventually leading to the the town being taken out with no Federal casualties and barely any rifle shots fired excluding sniper riffle ammunition.

War Plan Inigo: Part Two Annexation of Radiance
After the battle with Atillian Forces in the siege of Angola Federal forces continued marching west until they found a city that was glowing green. Then they had a couple of the Ghoul solders enter it and talk to the locals. The City of South Bend which is now called Radiance due to its highly radioactive nature was once a safe haven for Ghouls until the Kingdom of United Duchies had enslaved half of their population and the rest was forced to pay tribute to the Atillians, however, this was only on paper where the ghouls sent out a few stimpacks occasionally but beyond that nothing indicating much help to the raiders. The Federation told them of the liberation of New Belfast and the deal that was made and with some reluctance Radiance agreed to join the Federation as a homeland for the Ghouls but had made the Federation agree that the state proposed State of Requiem do to the surprising amount of Catholic Ghouls making up the Radiance. As such preparations from Ghouls from New Belfast moving to Radiance are already being planed. However, how this city will trade with the other members of the Federation is anyone's guess do to its highly radioactive area but current plans are being proposed involving this city becoming a scavenging and manufacturing city.

Nate was helping supervise the cataloguing of the equipment when a sergeant poked his head out from the Director's office. "Captain, you got a minute? I think I might have found something in this terminal."

Nate got up and walked over to the office and sat down in front of the terminal. "Is this it, what's on the screen?" he asked.

"Yes, sir."

Nate quickly skimmed through what appeared to be communication between the Studio Director and Hubris corporate. He raised an eyebrow when he was done. "Holovid technology? What?"

"That's what I said, sir."

The communications in question had been complaining about how the new Silver Shroud TV show was getting the experimental Holovid technology from National Electric instead of the Captain Cosmos. "Why should a new TV show that hasn't even proven itself get the best tech, instead of your prime money-maker here? We're filming in the same city, for chrissakes!"

Nate raised the other eyebrow. "Here in the same city? Wait, I heard about that - the Hubris Comics store downtown! Setting up a television studio to film the Silver Shroud specials!"

"That'd be a find, wouldn't it?" the sergeant said. "Whatever holovid technology is."

"Yes..." Nate mused. "When we're done here, I'll see if I can't get permission to go sweep the place." He smacked the sergeant on the shoulder. "Good work, sergeant. I'll buy you a drink in our off time."

Chapter 1, Part 3: Enter The Sister

The Skyscraper was empty, the cold air penetrating every bone in the Compassmen's and Compasswomen's bodies. Despite the armor, power armor, and multiple layers of clothing, the air leaked through.

Head Compasswoman Black stood imposingly, with one foot on a pile of rubble and the other on the ground, holding the binoculars to her eyes.

Head Compasswoman Black: "13 Hostiles about 3 klicks southwest. Compassman Cooke, Take Mark."

Head Compasswoman Black was sister of Paladin Black and Daughter of Elder Black, She was every bit as stern as her brother and every bit of a Traditionalist as her Father. However, there was a subtle charisma to her. Despite being younger than her brother, she had risen slightly higher than him, and advantage she always had in arguments.

Her husband, Ryan Gallagher, is a Star Paladin, which helped her make her way to head Compasswoman, although her own hard work had bought her the high ranking.

Compassman Cooke readied his laser rifle, his finger on the trigger, the stock tucked deep into his shoulder.

Compassman Cooke: "Black, They're too far. I can attempt a shot, but no guarantee."

Black Cursed under her breath. She Raised her binoculars back to her eyes and looked again.

Head Compasswoman Black: "Lower about 5, there should be some barrels within Range. I'm marking them Red, fire at those."

Cooke nodded, Sighting the Barrels. Even though they were more than a few miles away, his scope told the story. The Barrels had been spray painted with red "x"s, the barrels rusty. Knowing the Local Raiders, they were explosive barrels.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, Cooke Thought as he readied the laser rifle, holding his breath. Suddenly, chatter began to ring out of the radio.

Radio: "Fzztz... Head Compasswoman Black, be Advised that Alpha X-Ray Delta Delta Yankee has dropped our advice and is beginning their attack Fzztz... Repeat, Be Advised that Alpha X-Ray Delta Delta Yankee is beginning their attack... Fzztz..."

Head Compasswoman Black: "Damnit. They couldn't get those stupid minstrels to hold off their attack. Whiskey Victor, Gear Up. We're on the move."

It was just a team of two, this time. Nate, armed in the CC-01 power armor and armed with the Cosmic Cannon, alonside his sergeant in the other suit of CC-01. They made a fearsome duo together - mongrels that would otherwise challenge their passage yelped and shied away, and even the raiders refrained from challenging them. Thus, their passage to the comics store was unhindered.

The comic store was abandoned. The ferals that normally infested the place lay dead on the floor or in piles of plasma goo. Plasma burns on the wall further reinforced the fact that the location had already been raided by someone else.

"Well..." Nate remarked, "Looks like the Cosmic Cannon may have been unnecessary."

"That means the holovid technology is probably gone," the sergeant replied.

"Maybe," Nate replied. "Let's go in and see if they left anything."

The duo made their way up to the third floor, where the studio was located. "Look around," Nate ordered, "See if you can locate anything useful." While the Sergeant checked out the dressing room, Nate went into the recording booth. The recording console had taken damage from whoever had cleared the place out previously, but the terminal seemed to be unscathed. "Let's see what you have to say..." he murmured.

The terminal contained some selections for the lighting and the music, options which of course didn't work now. But there was one option that was already marked [Not Yet Connected], and it had to do with holovid recording. Underneath the selection was a journal entry with the holovid manual. "So..." Nate murmured, "The Encoding Program tape is still in here. But the equipment wasn't ever hooked up. So where is the equipment?" He ejected the tape and stored it in his pack.

"I couldn't find anything in the dressing room," the sergeant called, stomping across the studio floor.

"It looks like the equipment was never hooked up," Nate replied. "They had the encoder holotape loaded but the leads not hooked up. I suspect that it never arrived... Let's check the producer's office."

The terminal was active but contained no additional information on the shipment. However, there was a folder sitting on top of the terminal - and inside was a cargo ticket. "Ohhhhhhhhhhh..." Nate murmured. "It was going to be delivered the day after the bombs. The train it was on was supposed to arrive the day of... right before the bombs dropped, it looks like."

"Do you think it actually made it?" the sergeant asked. "For all we know, that train could be in the Glowing Sea."

"Only one way to find out," Nate replied. "Let's head back to Goodneighbor and radio in our plans, then we'll head out and look for it."

Expedition Charlie Sierra

Expedition Denoted as "Charlie Sierra" was made up of 1 Paladin and 5 Star Knights, as well as 3 Scribes. The Expedition would be to find water supplies, and wouldn't last too long (1-2 IRL days). Below are the official list of who will be going:

Paladin Martin Bird
Star Knight Darryl Burks
Star Knight Ted Bell
Star Knight Eric Fleming
Star Knight Ralph Tucker
Star Knight Jonathan Spears
Scribe Colin Osborn
Scribe Lynn Alston
Scribe Eddie Thompson

Charlie Sierra would be heading northward to check out a rumored Pre-War Water Purification Plant. The hope is that the water tanks remained intact and filled, while water could be transported through a minor supply chain if the purification plant proved full of pure water.

(OOC: Charlie Sierra is a Failed Expedition.)

Expedition Delta Gulf

Expedition denoted as "Delta Victor" was made up of 3 Compassmen and 1 Star Knight. The Goal of the expedition is to find food for the Chapter, as local stocks were starting to run out, and farms would not be ready for a while until construction had begun. Below is the official list of who will be going:

Compassman Thomas Franklin
Compassman Jeremy Kirkland
Compassman Michael Hunt
Star Knight Edwin Paul

While this task force was smaller, the expedition would take place over a longer time (4 IRL Days), and would be closer to Rapid City. Hopefully, nearby food stores would have enough food to tide over the Population until farms could be set up.

(OOC: Expedition gathered more than enough resources)

A Good Neighbor, pt. 5
Colonel Carlock of the Minuteman surveyed Bunker Hill from inside the monument. "Well... I certainly appreciate the effort you put into fortifying this place for us," he quipped to General Madsen. "Too bad you boys aren't staying... we could certainly use your know-how."

"Well, we'll be staying for a little while," Madsen replied. "We'll certainly help you out as much as we can. As a matter of fact... who are your top engineers?"

"Why do you ask?" Carlock inquired.

"Well... We're in the process of repairing a vertibird. But it won't be complete for another couple months, and we need to evacuate the team that's working on it. We can have our guys show you what to do, then finish the project for us."

Carlock rubbed his head. "Well, that's mighty... generous of you. Are you sure you won't need it?"

"We have a new source for them," Madsen said, somewhat vaguely. "But you need all the help you can get."

Carlock nodded slowly. "Right. Our resident nerd is busy working on emplacing the four artillery pieces in the center of town. Once those are situated, I'll have him meet up with your men." He cocked his head. "What else you got for me?"

Madsen smiled.

The texas-brotherhood of steel

Judge, Jury, and Executioner

Chapter 1 - A Taste of Wasteland Justice | Boomtown, Texas | March 14, 2155

Now, we shall stray away from Brotherhood affairs for a moment, dear reader, and focus on civilian matters. I shall tell you a story of how a settlement out in the chaotic enviroment of the wasteland was able to recover from a time of despair. Boomtown, is a mining town and one of the trading hubs in the Texas Wasteland. It's citizens live in relative harmony and peace aside from the occasional raider attack , although, the peace in the town can somewhat be disrupted by other local issues.

"Sheriff! I got another one!" Deputy Anders, a Ghoul, said in his raspy voice as he set down a captured Raider. The sounds of the Sheriff's boots spurs jangled as he walked towards Anders and the sound of his revolver spinning could be heard. Sheriff Bradford kneeled next to the the captured raider, "Well...well...well..." He said. "What do we have here today Deputy?" The raider began to maniacally laugh, "This town will burn Sheriff! BURN!" The raider said. "That's what all they say. Tell you what, do me favor, go tell your boss, and tell him Boomtown is off-limits." He said. "Oh Sheriff..." The raider said. "Nothin" aint ever off-limits in the Wasteland." The Sheriff shook his head, "Boomtown is. Deputy, throw him outside. I'm gonna..." He said as he loaded his revolver. "Teach him a lesson." Deputy Anders grabbed the captured raider and threw him outside. The Sheriff walked down the steps as the townspeople gathered around to watch the commotion or to see the public execution. Deputy Anders watched from the side as The Sheriff began the execution. "Ladies and gentlemen!" Bradford said, addressing the crowd. "This is prime example of what its out there in the Wasteland!" The raider psychotically laughed, "ALL OF YAH WILL BURN!" The raider screamed. "Shut up!" Deputy Anders said as he struck the raider in the face. The Sheriff continued, "The Law is the law and that is final! Break it and you get a bullet in the face!" He paced around. "Do you want end up like Houston! A city full of anarchy and raiders?!" Bradford asked. A few nos could be heard while some others shook their heads. "This...scum, thinks we're afraid. That we'll give up our supplies and run away like other towns. But we are not afraid! We will stand up to scum like them." He walked behind the raider and rose his revolver at his head. "They'll be comin' Sheriff. They'll lookin' for me. And Boss won't be a happy when he finds out I'm dead." The raider gave a sly smile. "We'll be ready." The Sheriff said. "May God have mercy on your soul." The raider laughed, "There is no God." The Sheriff fired and the raider slumped over in the mud. "Anyone else?" The Sheriff said towards the crowd. The townspeople shook their head. "Good." He said. "Deputy, take this body and hang it outside town. And take this and hang it around his neck." He said as he handed him a sign. Anders carried the body and sign outside of town and hung them on a nearby telephone pole.

Chapter 2 - Boomtown Goes Boom!

A few days later

“Sheriff!? Oh Sheriff!?” Raider Boss Cobalt, in full Raider Power Armor, said. "What the hell is it now?" Sheriff Bradford said as he grabbed his rifle and revolver and went to the front gate with the Boomtown militia and his deputy. "Open the gate." The Sheriff said. The guards opened the gate and approached the gang of raiders. "Sheriff Bradford." Cobalt said. "Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. I saw what you did with Pyro over there." He pointed at the raider who was hanging from the telephone pole with a sign that read: THIS IS WHAT WE DO TO RAIDERS. Bradford chuckled, "Well, he broke the law. Now y'all better skeddadle on outta here before me and my boys get trigger happy." He said as Bradford's men aimed their weapons at the raider gang. The raider gang responded in kind. "Looks like we're at an impasse, Sheriff." Cobalt said. "You know? I really do admire your courage. I really do. Most people would just give up what we want or run away. People who fight back well..." He chuckled. "They don't fare too well. Now, I'm gonna give you one chance, and I rarely give out chances. Hand over your goods, and caps." Cobalt said. "No." The Sheriff responded. "You should've taken the chance. Say how's your wife and daughter?" Cobalt said with a sly smile. "What?" The Sheriff said. "The hell you say about my family you sh!t?" Cobalt gestured and a raider brought out his captured wife and his teenage daughter wearing rags and were bloodied, battered, and bruised and were whom were chained to a raider. "I caught 'em while your were off in the mines. And I'll say, my raiders had fun taking turns with 'em." He chuckled. "YOU SON OF A BI-" Bradford approached and was about to shoot Cobalt when a raider shot him in the knee. "You know...never mess with us. Your whole 'law and order' idea don't exist no more in the Wasteland." He said as he kneeled next to the Sheriff. He made a gesture to loot the town and his raiders followed through. He walked among the streets of Boomtown as the raiders began looting, robbing, and capturing other people. A few buildings were destroyed and burned and others were looted. Some people attempted to fight back but they were met with death. A few hours later, the raiders left with their loot and left the town to it's demise. The Sheriff, now wounded, limped over to help what was left of the town. The Boomtown Militia fell apart as soon as the attack began and the citizens were forced to defend themselves. Boomtown had suffered a raider attack. But the people were resilient and a few days after the attack, the settlement was able to recover with the help of nearby settlements. Buildings that were previously destroyed were quickly rebuilt. And the caravan and mining operations resumed their normal business. A few months after the attack, the Boomtown Militia was able to recover and later years able to successfully fend off raider attacks. But there was one thing in the minds of the people , revenge for what happened that day. And they did get their revenge.

But that, my dear reader, is another story for another time.

An Extended Lease on Life, pt. 1
Mark sipped his Nuka-Cola and sighed in contentment. For once in two years, he felt... relieved. Sure, the animal life in Halifax was more dangerous than he had been led to believe - giant eagles called Razorbeaks? - and there was the stress of unpacking (seriously, who'dve thought unpacking could be just as stressful as packing and moving?), but... he didn't have to worry about a Vault crumbling around him, he didn't have to worry about his people getting run over by raiders, and he didn't have to worry (as much) about the ambient radiation.

Just then, his morning was interrupted by a knock on his door. Mark had appropriated the commandant's office in the old fort-turned-museum that for now served as the New England Commonwealth's home. They hadn't decided on what they would name their settlement yet - Mark intended to have a contest for it as soon as everyone had settled down a bit.

"Come in," Mark called. The door opened to reveal the Lord High Admiral, dressed in his "casual" uniform. "Your excellency!" Mark exclaimed, jumping up. "Come in, have a seat. Can I offer you some Nuka Cola?"

"Thank you, but no," Admiral Boom replied with a grin. "Nuka-Cola is bad for my health. Interesting story, but our first Lord High Admiral banned the drinking of Nuka Cola in an effort to keep radiation damage to a minimum," he mused, taking a seat.

"That is fascinating," Mark replied in amusement. "What brings you to my door today, your excellency?"

"Please, call me Daelin," Boom answered with a smile. "Yes, sorry for dropping in without warning. But I wanted to talk to you, get your thoughts before I plead your case before the Sea Lords tomorrow."

"Plead our case?" Mark asked, brow furrowed. "I thought we were already approved to stay here."

"Indeed, you are," Boom replied. "Tomorrow I will be proposing we make your people a member of the Covenant."

Mark's eyebrows rose immediately. "Really? That's generous of you... I have to ask, why would you do that?"

"To cement an alliance. I firmly believe that we are good for each other. Right now you are living on borrowed land. If we bring you into the Covenant, your citizens will be free to settle wherever you wish, go wherever they want while being protected. You'll even have representation in the Sea Lords."

"What do you get out of this?" Mark asked, slightly suspicious.

"Fresh, young energy," the Lord High Admiral replied. "To be frank, we are a stagnant civilization. A monolith of ancient technology, a remnant shard of a Fallen Empire long since turned to dust. I believe you are the key to our awakening. Your people have a determination not just to survive, but to better their circumstances. To build new things, instead of merely maintaining what is there."

"I understand," Mark nodded. "But you're the Lord High Admiral, why haven't you pushed through some of these reforms yourself?"

"I am not a despot... though sometimes I wish I were," Boom replied with a wink. "I am the Supreme Commander of the Covenant but not its Supreme Leader. Among the Sea Lords, I am but the first of equals, except in times of crisis."

Mark nodded slowly. "I see what you're saying. And I think it's a good idea - though maybe, I would rather have you join us. We are a Federal state, after all, you'd keep your autonomy."

"It would be easier to sell it to the Lords as you joining us," Boom pointed out. "Any suggestion that we throw away our own sovereignty would immediately be met with disdain and an immediate vote no."

Mark nodded. "I understand. And on behalf of the New England Commonwealth, I thank you."

"Oh, you're quite welcome!" Boom replied. "Now, I did also want to see what you chaps are doing with the place. Do you have time for a tour?"

"Of course!" Mark exclaimed. "I'd be happy to show you around. Just let me get my hat here..."

EDWARD RILEY

Cold.
My world could be described with just that word.
It wasn't about passing cold, cool or just a little wind, it was pure cold, but the world i was in, knew nothing else but that feeling.
I had been living underground for years, like everyone else in my station. Our grandparents had taken refuge in the Montréal Metro when the Great War broke out, the only refuge that people found in a desperate attempt to stick to life. The metro and its stations became our home, but with the passing of the years mutants, radiation and wars between stations threatened our existence. A city of almost 2 million inhabitants soon found itself reduced to only about 20,000 individuals, scattered in the numerous underground stations and railway lines, divided by ideals, weapons and borders.
Our world narrowed more and more every day ...
The cold we knew was the same that accompanied every metro resident every day. Without the light of the sun our bodies trembled among the cold chills, forcing us to repose the stations to little bonfires for warm up to survive. Of course, to find relief it would have been enough to get out of this hell hole to enjoy the golden rays of the fireball in the sky, but ... that splendid sphere hadn't shone for quite a while in the skies of Montréal. The atomic bombing had raised radioactive dust in the area, which for 80 years covered the sun and its heat, forcing humanity to live in the most complete frost of the nuclear winter, while the surface was radiated by an atomic bomb that hit the area south-east out of our city.
We were literally trapped.

...

Said Mark suddenly, shaking my body to wake me up as soon as possible. I stood up stunned, but my head slammed on the rudimentary bed built above me where my "neighbor" lived.
I replied in pain, putting a hand on the spot where I had hit my head.
I said, getting out of bed. It was convenient as getting out of bed was also like leaving the house. The Lionel-Groulx station was the most beautiful in the metro and the most populated, and as such a hundred people lived in the Capital of the United stations of Stratyos, the faction in which I was born and raised. To allow people to live in the station, the head of Stratyos, Johnatan Krukov, decided that the houses had to be considerably reduced, making people live in a space of 90 cm x 2,20 meters made up of four metal sheets or pieces of wood, two makeshift beds and a sliding door. In short: we lived like rats. The rich and the political and military leaders, on the other hand, lived in real luxury homes on the upper floor of the station, being able to afford even a space considerably larger than several meters. At first it pissed a lot, but the more you got used to it, the less you got sick.
So I walked towards the upper floor of the station with Mark, walking in the slums of the lower floor where the rest of the population, me too, lived. Drugs sale, prostitution, black market and crime were the order of the day, but Krukov didn' t care: as long as he didn' t see, nothing official happened, leaving hundreds of people of the stations of Stratyos in corruption and poverty.
Mark explained, walking inside the chaotic crowd.
I asked, annoyed for the stupid job they were calling us mercenaries for.
Even though Stratyos was one of the most powerful factions in the metro it didn't mean that everyone loved it. For 20 years the situation with the Republic of the Eastern stations was in a pitiful state, the belligerents went from a state of truce to one of war every year, putting even diplomats and ambassadors in chaos. My father, who survived the first years of the war, told me that at the beginning the conflict was much more violent, using even some vehicles called "Tanks", armored railway carts equipped with explosive weapons, but after a few years the conflict became only a binocular war. Even if the two factions were at war, not even a bullet was fired. It was just a war of looks on defensive positions and spies.

EDWARD RILEY

It took a few minutes to get to the Ice Watchers command center, the mercenary company I worked for. Once arrived we entered the tent for briefings, along with a group of 5 other of my colleagues. In front of a blackboard, Scarface, the leader of the Ice Watchers, watched us closely, waiting for the last members to arrive. Although I had known the man for years, he had that long scar on his right eye that every time I saw it seemed like it was a novelty. Many say that it was done during the first years of the war with the Republic, others say instead that it was done during a battle with a Deathclaw, but only he knows the truth, and he never revealed it.

Stratyos wrote:SCARFACE
" Welcome gentlemen! Stratyos needs us now more than ever. Lucien Allier station is giving problems to tax officials, not responding to the collection of this month's mushroom picking. The mission is simple: escort the officials to their destination and ... if needed ... try to convince the station to give up the harvest, with good or bad manners ... "

It wasn' t the first time that they entrusted us with such work, for me this was the fourth time I was going to collect taxes, but some veterans of the company have done so many more, even having to stifle the riots in the blood. Unfortunately, if you were living in the capital or in the neighboring stations, life in Stratyos has never been easy.
Explained the last details about the route to take, we left the tent to meet with the two tax officials, ready to go with us. They were two fairly old men, armed with pistols and carrying a band with Stratyos' emblem on their right arm. Whoever wore it meant that he worked for the government.
The two men and our group of 6 mercenaries were loaded on a rudimentary wagon placed in the station's "Transport station". Each time it seems strange and pathetic to call a place where the wagons fit "Station", even though we were already in one of these. The first turn to push the hand lever to Georges Vanier station fell to me and a colleague of mine, from there to the destination it would be up to two others. Without wasting time we began to push, activating the vehicle and making it advance on the worn and dirty rails, towards total darkness.

Justice For All!
Hot. A term normally associated with temperature and occasionally sexual relations but a term that is the political situation within the Federation. While both President Catherine Thomas of the Police Union and her vice president Marry Fall of the Agricultural Union have fulfilled most of their foreign policy obligations and agreements while westward expansion still being focused is understandable given the circumstances with the south and east. The fact that reactionaries might not be able to be called out without hard evidence and an agreement to make a state for ghouls within the Federation has caused a political uproar within the People's Congress. Some accusations of treason from some members of Trade unions on the president while other trade unions are accusing the trade unions making accusations against the President are traitors. Unsurprisingly much of an issue is taken on the fact of focusing on simple expansion rather then infrastructure. As such the President issued a statement staying "To those who are calling me a traitor I ask you were the Free Staters traitors to us, were the Wobblies traitors to the American People, was the Unionists traitors to America, was John Brown a traitor to the Union and most importunately was the capitalist reformer Huey long a traitor? The answer is no none of them were. The Free Staters were loyal despite not having the same economic views as us they agreed that the United States became corrupt to the point it could not be saved. The Wobblies our predecessors before the bombs fell were not traitors we were fighting for the American Workers which are the American People. The Unionists in the Civil War were not traitors despite drastically increasing Federal Power in their efforts to expand Liberty for the whole country and Free the Slaves. Was John Brown a traitor no he was not he did all he could to help with Freeing the Slaves. Huey Long the capitalist reformists of the 1930s who had attempted to implement programs like 'Share our Wealth' and providing textbooks for grammar schools was not a traitor he was a Patriot who was blinded by the extremism and evilness associated with Bolshevism and the traitorous Soviets to see the liberty of Syndicalism. This is my point sometimes you have to work with those you do not like for the Greater Good of this country and while it may be hard for some of you to see it not all Ghouls are reactionary scum like the bastards who attempted to destroy the House of Representatives and attempted to kill President Jack Thomas the First President of this Federation and my cousin. But, we must not allow ourselves to become like the McCarthyite traitors who attempted to wipe us out before the bombs fell. We will not be a nation of McCarthyites with different economics we will be a nation of laws, of liberty, of order and of JUSTICE FOR ALL!" After the speech there was a long silence followed by a loud applause by all major trade union and some from really small unions but there was no boos at all.

NUKA WORLD, DRY ROCK GULCH

Raiders of Ragnarok

The Flower Children began to hang up Halloween decorations, but these weren't just plastic or cardboard hang ups, these were quite too... realistic... Flower Children hung up skeletons that still had human blood and flesh all over it. The skeletons had not be washed or disinfected, the skeletons were more red with dried up blood than they were white as bone. The pre-war skeletons were also hung up at all the Dry Rock Gulch attractions. General Store set up some human heads that were carved to match a jack-o-lantern, it's mouth and eyes were carved, most of it's skull and brain was removed. General Store had a male slave with a collar on his neck operating it, crates upon crates of Chems were for sale, even marijuana and drug paraphernalia was up for selling. Doc Phosphate Saloon was also decorated with fresh disinfected settler corpses and decapitated heads, it was also another Chem vendor. Doc Phosphate's Saloon had Flower Children and Tyrants alike sitting at the tabels, drinking away or getting baked off the high quality Chems that the Flower Children Chemists made. Doc Phosphate's Saloon also had four Flower Children Enforcers watching from the balcony, making sure everything in the Saloon is under control. The Barns set up along Dry Rock were used for weapon and Chem storage, these were guarded 24/7 by Heavy Raiders and turrets. Dry Rock Gulch Theater hosted settler gladiator battles, with both Chem and Alcohol vendors. It is a good day at Dry Rock Gulch.

Futuretainment: Holo Boogaloo, pt. 3
Nate smiled grimly at the ghoul corpses littering the ground as he disembarked from the vertibird. Cindy was learning her job well. Almost too well for a girl her age. Taking aim with the Cosmic Cannon, he blasted the few remaining ferals that had survived inside the station building. "Thanks for the ride, Cindy!" he called as the vertibird lifted off.

Nate hoped Bedford Station had some answers. Several days spent combing the South Boston trainyards with the help of the Minutemen had turned up nothing aside from a few fusion cores and a cache of ammunition. The operation so far had been a net loss, resulting in the injury of a team of Minutemen that had accidentally startled a Yao Guai. If the outland station didn't have any answers, he might have to give up, because if it was in the Glowing Sea it was completely lost.

The boots of the CC-01 power armor made an eerie clanging sound on the concrete floor of the station as the pair walked inside. "You check the terminal, I'll check the filing cabinet," Nate ordered.

The filing cabinet was disappointing, as anything of value inside was mildewed or moldy. "That's not going to reveal any secrets," Nate remarked. "Find anything?"

"Yeah," replied the sergeant. "The train did stop here, loaded the cargo onto a Wicked Shipping truck."

"Great," Nate said with a groan. "Now we have to search the roadway. Good thing I brought along an extra fusion core."

"Now hold on a minute," the sergeant replied, "I remember seeing one on the road going past Lexington, back when we came and rescued you."

"Was it that truck that just missed getting crushed by the freeway when it fell over?"

The pair decided to walk the couple of miles to the collapsed freeway. It took them a better part of an hour, Nate not wanting to use up the energy in the fusion core too much. The freeway had fallen mere yards short of the truck in question, covering the area in concrete dust but otherwise having left the vehicle unharmed.

The trailer was still locked with a lock that the sergeant confidently declared as "beyond any thief's abilities". A blast from the Cosmic Cannon solved that problem immediately, and Nate forced the door open. A wall of wooden crates greeted him, each one stamped with its own label and delivery address. "Do we gotta go through all these?" the sergeant asked despairingly.

"We only need to find the ones addressed to Hubris Comics," Nate replied. "Probably somewhere in the middle."

As a matter of fact, the crates they were looking for were closer to the back. "Bingo," Nate exclaimed in relief.

"Should we crack it open? Y'know, just to make sure?" the sergeant asked.

Nate tore the top of one of the crates off. "I'm pretty certain this is it," he replied. "A special holographic recorder, according to the paperwork here." He sighed. "Good. I was beginning to think we weren't ever going to find it."

"Why did we come find it?" the sergeant asked. "I mean, it's not like it'll help us any in the war."

"No," Nate agreed. "But war tools aren't everything. This, my friend, is for culture." He set the top back onto the crate as best he could. "Throw the flare, we'll get these loaded up onto the vertibird and get out of here. It's getting late and we haven't even gotten these suits painted yet."
