Liberation Rising II: The Bloody Massacre Part I

Ylikää, Finnmark, March 10th, 1926

Kaarlo, Mari, and Ruuben had just got out of class for the day, it was now 1:30 PM and the group of friends were headed for Capital District in downtown Ylikää, to the Landestag building to join the Finnmark Alliance Party in their independence protest. As the group continued their journey to Capital District they began to see more and more students and individuals walking the streets with signs that read: "Finnmark will be Free" and "Down with the Southern Crown". Mari and Kaarlo grew more and more excited with the support for the cause they saw, while Ruuben only grew more anxious. The group of students were relatively young, only being around 18 or 19 respectively, Mari and Kaarlo were known by their peers for being particularly radical, supporting Finnmark's full independence from Lieobria while Ruuben was less impassioned and more moderate. The friends began to discuss their ideas and hopes for their home Province as their walk went on.

Mari: *smiling at her friends* "Come on Ruuben, lighten up a little, this will be fun! Our first rally as party members, can you believe it?"

Ruuben: *Smiling back at her, although visibly uncomfortable* "Of course it's exciting, I'm just a little nervous is all, I'm sure once were there I'll feel a little better."

Mari: *Smiles at him reassuringly*

Kaarlo: "Who knows Ruuben, maybe will finally convince you that independence really is the only option!" *he said in a joking manner*

Ruuben: "doubtful, but we'll see wont we?" *he said grinning at Kaarlo*

Kaarlo: *laughing* "You and your smug grins!" *he throws his arm around Ruuben, laughing*

*The trio continued their conversation, and continued walking towards the city center and the Landestag Building, upon arriving in the Capital District they were amazed to find a crowd of at least a thousand people gathered around the building, chants of "Down with the Crown" and "Southerners go Home" can be heard from various parts of the vast crowd, the feeling of the crowd was, charged, electric almost. Kaarlo, Mari, and Ruuben proceed to push their way through the crowds, hoping to find their way to the front.*

Mari: "Come on Ruuben, hurry up or you'll get left behind!" *She called out, while Kaarlo and her began forcing their way to the front of the crowd*

Ruuben: "Are you sure this is a good idea?" *He called back to her*

Mari: "Of course, this will be fun! Now hurry up!" *she exclaimed*

Ruuben: "Alright, I'm coming!" *He said, now reluctantly following his friends to the front of the crowd*

*After several minutes of pushing and shoving the trio made it to the front of the crowd, they were now on the steps of the Landestag building, and they could see what was going on. Several Royal Rangers stood at the top of the steps to the building, armed with rifles and side arms, the other members of the crowd at the front were chanting "Southerners go Home!" and tossing stones and bottles at the steps of the building. Kaarlo and Mari proceed to join with the chant.*

The Crowd: *Southerners go Home! .... Southerners go Home! ...... Southerners go Home! .... Southerners go Home! .... Southerners go Home!*

*The sounds of bottles and stones smashing against the steps and walls of the building begins to grow.*

Ruuben: "Are you guys sure this is a good idea!" *He exclaimed at Mari and Kaarlo *

Kaarlo: "Of course! this is our opportunity to show the Southerners we're serious about our independence!" *he places his hand on Ruubens shoulder reassuringly *

*The chanting and tossing of objects continued for several minutes, before it happened. A rock, tossed from the crowed struck on the the Royal Rangers in the head, and he went down, several Rangers rushed to move him to safety, while three of the others drew weapons and took aim at the crowd, before anyone knew it, three shots were fired into the crowd. Quickly protesters began to disperse, fleeing down side streets and ally ways. When the smoke had cleared those that had remained found three protesters dead from gun shot wounds , one of those protesters was Kaarlo.....*
