I've seen issues with court systems in plenty of other regions, not just TNP. Including Pacifica. NS court systems aren't an efficient way to deal with troublemakers. Can you imagine if we'd had to wait for court rulings every time we had an issue in Pacifica? It's not practical.

Dino thalassian mission wrote:Frankly I disagree. When I was Chief Justice, the SecGen asked me to deliver a ruling regarding a trouble maker relating to moderation and it only took me 5 hours. Very speedy for a NS court, unlike TNP, a region you stated that was slow and problematic. I also find it silly that you think a court is an bad idea. You filed a writ on the old Pacifca forum, didn't you? The only trial ever.

Yes, I filed charges on the old Pacifica forum because at the time we had a court system, and that was the only way to handle the situation. And guess what? The situation didn't get handled by the court system at all. That's why we don't have a court anymore.

Dino thalassian mission wrote:Funny, because it only had one case ever and as I said above was because of you asking to court to approve a ban on the WAA Minister for treason. If it failed, it simply was because it wasn't used a court. You asked for no trial, just permission from the court to ban. Also no offense to Josh, I think he's a great guy, but he didn't do too much other than give input on a trial potentially regarding Qwabour, and resigned when Wymond became PM. Afterwards, the Court was completely vacant due to our silly system of having one justice and two other temporarily ones when a trial came. Wymond didn't have the time to get his CJ nominee passed and utterly withdrawn all of his nominees for cabinet following the dissolution of the Republic of Pacifica.

Uh, no, and frankly if you want to be involved in government at as high a level as running a judicial branch, you need to pay better attention to what actually goes on here. You're involved so many places and spread so thin you really don't have a firm grasp on what's happening in any of them, to be completely blunt with you. I filed criminal charges against the individual in question, and asked the court to approve a ban while the charges were being heard. The charges were never heard. You can blame Josh's activity level at the time all you want, but the fact of the matter is absurdly slow response is a frequent problem in court systems in many regions.

In regard to Pacifica's "silly" system at the time, that system existed because of the tiny number of people we had involved off-site at the time. You can't very well fill a three person court full-time when you've got about nine active people involved. Speaking of off-site platforms, it's worth noting that because we don't have off-site platforms anymore, any court system would be a logistical nightmare. We'd either have to use the government Discord server and invite criminals onto it for trials, establish a Discord server specifically for trials, or worse yet, conduct gameside trials via RMB. It's a logistical absurdity and we don't need it. We haven't had a court system for months in Pacifica and we've been doing fine without one, by relying on commonsense moderation instead of people wanting to play a Law & Order RP and not doing a very good job of it.

There is absolutely no reason to have a judicial system here except that you want one because you like to play in judicial systems. That's not a good enough reason. And given you're already involved in other regions' judicial systems, do you really need to spread yourself just a little bit thinner still and get involved in one here? I really don't think you do.
