As part of the diplomatic outreach program designed to bring Syrtis back into the world stage and acquaint itself with the various nations, all nations of the world are invited to compete in the Annual Mount Atna Trail Race. While we would like to assume that it is the longest dogsled race in the world, we cannot be entirely sure. The route lies in the northernmost island of our humble collection and. passes through a variety of terrain and altitudes. Contestants will have five weeks time in which to familiarize themselves with the snows and climate their dogs. Requirements for the race are that each team must start with sixteen dogs and finish with at least six. For nations that aren't blessed with snowfalls ample enough for proper racing, dogs and sleds can be provided and extra time will be allotted for training. For those not interested in sled racing, the nation hosts a biathlon race just after the Atna Trail Race. Syrtian biathlon requires excellent marksmanship and proficiency in the style of skiing known as skate.

All interested parties should contact the Ministry of Foreign Relations for the arrangement of transportation for prospective athletes. It is preferable that prospective athletes speak either Inuktitut or English so that they will be able to work more closely with trainers and guides if they wish to.

Special Communique
His Majesty's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Normudria

The Kingdom of Normudria would like to extend to its erstwhile neighbor, Syrtis, an announcement that the nation will continue the proud tradition of participating in the Mount Atna Trail Race. Normudria recognizes the value of such a competition in celebrating the Northerly nations' combined heritage and brotherhood. The contestants bearing the Normudric banner will be drawn, as usual, from the so-called "Royal Dogsled Dragoons" of His Majesty's Royal Army to compete in the annual race. The team shall consist of seven people, each with their own sled and teams of four dogs each, all bred to racing standards. A motorized team of Royal Medical Corps personnel will be flown out to Syrtis with them to assist in the unlikely case of emergency, whether it involves Normudric riders or not. Of course, the riders will be fluent in English, and all costs and supplies will be upheld by His Majesty's Normudric Government.
