The first wave of Imperial aircraft carrying observers and participants in the Loftegen 2 Republican Federation Airforce Exercise Schedule 2019 arrived back home in Leonism today. It was a T140 Transport aircraft carrying pilots from the 44. Marinejagdgeschwader "Friesland". The Imperial Naval Air Arm had sent the smallest force to Loftegen 2, a landlocked nation, but its pilots nevertheless benefitted from training with the Viper BT.7 medium bomber and Rapier III interceptor. Several pilots had been involved in the life-firing of nuclear warheads, a first for all of them as the Imperium does officially not have any nuclear warheads in its arsenal (although rumours of a strategic reserve of very-high-yield nuclear fusion bombs persist).

Journalists accompanying the observers noted that they recieved word from Loftegen colleagues about an upcoming major arms deal, wherein the Imperium would buy 300 Viper BT.3 and BT.7 aircraft, to replace the Luftwaffe's aging fleet of B18 medium bombers. The deal seems to be in the latest stages, and there are some indications that Luftwaffe personnel might even be ferrying a few aircraft back home for evaluation.

INN will follow the topic closely.
