Constitution drafted

The Kingdom of Morocco celebrates as the nation drafts it's first constitution. The constitution, primarily made by members of the emergency council, with, for the annoyed clerics and elected representatives, too much liberal influence, has been put into law. The most important parts of the constitution guarantee the right to freedom of expression, speech and the right to assemble, to protest and to form political parties. Representatives have commented that "the council deems it fit to corrupt the future law with ideas of the westerners, who have brought us so much suffering."

The nation's clerics and conservatives are outraged by the egalitarian premise of women being equal before law, as the constitution does not guarantee just the rights of "man" (objectively, a male citizen), but the rights of a "person" (neutral, but all-encompasing statement). They have already demanded the revision of articles that are suspiciously favouring of protecting certain minorities, but the council hascodenied these allegations and demands. The military has stressed that it will fully commit to safeguarding the new government.

Administration gaps to be filled in as taxes and administrative tasks begin to pile up

The nation's council has allowed for quran scholars to fill out the empty ranks of bureaucracy, as it has requested that 38% of the nation's students become civil officials, too. This is absolutely necessary, as the government does want to tackle the titanic effort of regulating all administrative requests, especially taxes.

Taxation, meanwhile, has annoyed most of the population. Despite the sudden jump in revenue, of which 35% is being used to pay off debt, people are demanding that income taxes be lowered for certain groups of people, especially the victims of imperial misrule who can barely survive even with a hundred dirhams, let alone eighty seven with the taxes. Local representatives have begun campaigning for this, as a sort of a revenge for the council ignoring them during the constitution draft. The emergency council has offered the compromise of targeting vulnerable populations with welfare programs.

Elections announced

The government has announced that they will host elections for the nation's first parliament on the January of the year 1874.

Foreign policy shift: No more isolationism

The emergency council has recently announced that their financiers are reviewing the unjust war reparation costs imposed upon the Kingdom by the Spainards in the 60s of the current century. The emergency council has by rumor considered rendering these reparations null to eliminate foreign debt, but no official statement has confirmed this to become a future event. Most likely out of fear from Spanish and allied repercussion, although, with the military so strong these days, led by young, nationalist officers, maybe it could become a true event.
