Diamonds? That seems like an odd choice, while diamonds are extremely hard they are actually rather brittle and can break far easier then most people think.

For skyscrapers (and airplanes for that matter) you want a material to be flexible, like steel.

Diamonds are pretty so they are great adornments but lousy building materials. Also, diamonds burn. They are more or less just coal.

Using small pieces of diamonds in a drill is awesome but it not just because of the cost you don't make the entire drill out of it.
