Not one of them, no. I'm practically a kid! And while the elders at my Tree taught me a lot about demons and abominations -- we have to know, to fight them -- I've only heard of Pakitsk from my brother Basalt and the rest of Letwin's students.

Martis jumps at the noise before settling down. "Basalt? Has he been to Pakitsk? I know not the name, but mayhaps I can contact one of the Grand Ataman's lieutenants who might have heard rumor." He's acting a little bit like a child now, curious about everything and glancing about him as though he'd never seen the buildings or streets of a foreign city -- which, of course, he hasn't. "Will we be there soon? Forgive me, but I cannot take notes while walking and wish to learn much from your Professor Letwin. While we speak, however, do you know where I might find shelter for the night, or perhaps for a month? I see there is more to learn than I expected."
