Not all trotskyists are the same. Yes there are some people who overdo it by calling out Stalin so much (and for good reasons) but those are the ones who call themselves ''trotskyists'' since they find themselves agreeing orthodoxically with the logic of Trotsky. ''Trotskyites'' are much different, and probably much closer to Marxism, as Trotsky first said he wasn't a ''trotskyist'' (just like Marx said he wasn't marxist, to avoid labels of the working class), so a lot of people are trotskyites, pay attention to that please. (for example I would say I am trotskyite, because with some of Trotsky's arguments I agree, with some others I disagree being more anti-Stalin and with some others Im way more pro-Stalin than him)
Also, regarding the online discussion you joined, how did you realise the organisers were trotskyists? I mean, anarchists tend to criticise Stalin a lot more while trotskyists actually know theory. So I guess they could be anarchists, dem confederalists, lib lefts, post leftists, left communists, or whatever else. Except if it was clearly stated somewhere that the meeting was organised by a trotskyist (not trotskyite) organisation or party, you can't just blame the trotskyists. Trotskyists/ites always get blamed when Marxist-Leninists hear that word and get scared by it (ive been called a trot like a hundrend times)

Lol well when I asked they all told me they were Trotskyists and they said their organization was Trotskyist, and they really wanted me to buy a subscription to their Trotskyist newspaper, so I mean, it seems like they were Trotskyists.
