In our opposition to the autocrats, we've found that it's little use to organize ourselves through alliances or leagues, they are most efficient at tearing those apart. I believe it is optimal that we formalize the agreement without any particular name, more of a shared commitment. That way, it will be much harder to organize for them. They can't organize efficiently against something that is not immediately clear to the naked eye!

Title: Soviet-Anzoanian Summit

Moscow — The letter from the Anzoanian Government was seen by many in the Foreign Ministry as a great opportunity to create a new friendship in South America and establish important economic ties that are mutually beneficial to the peoples of both countries. A response was sent right away.

~~Official Correspondence of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ~~

To: George Garcia, Minister of Foreign Trade of Anzoania
From: Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Subject: Soviet-Anzoanian Summit

Honorable Minister Garcia,

We are humbled and elated to receive your letter for the establishment of trade and further diplomatic relations. As we look forward to growing our economy and working with other nations across the world to improve the living standards of the many, we see your letter as the perfect opportunity to accomplish this and even more. The Kremlin believes that strong economic ties among our nations would be hugely beneficial: We both sit at areas of the world where agriculture and mining can provide the ticket to that economic development billions dream of. Likewise, our locations in the world make us uniquely vulnerable to the negative impacts of global warming. Cooperation in creating a new model of economic development and growth that is friendly with the environment is of the utmost importance. We hope that we can further discuss this when our delegations meet in Santiago.

To further strengthen our bilateral relations, we graciously accept your invitation to further solidify our diplomatic ties through the establishment of embassies. Our Foreign Ministry will find a suitable location in the Diplomatic Quarter of Moscow, at your discretion, so that Anzoania can open an embassy. We would like to humbly request if a Soviet embassy is also allowed to be established in Santiago. If allowed, we will appoint Dr. Visily Grachev as our ambassador to your nation.

Warm regards,

Viktor Sokolov
Minister of Foreign Relations

Dear Mr Sokolov,

We gladly look forward to starting bilateral relations, and establishing trade. In the coming months we can look at Formally establishing diplomatic missions in both of our nations. We will look at discussing further details with your diplomats, and suggest holding a summit in our nations capital, Santiago on the 29th August 2020. Following such we shall promptly establish an embassy headed by our selected ambassador, Mr Alejandro Rodríguez by late October. We look forward to formally establishing bilateral relations and will work to maintain as such diplomatic cooperation in the future.

Yours comradely, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, George Garcia.

Shchegolyayeva: Thank you for your kind words Prime Minister Sørensen. It is certainly a great honour to be able to join the elite group of female leaders across the world.

I think that the proposals you put forward are quite fair. Certainly one can easily see how those measures will be mutually beneficial to both of our nations. As such we are in favour of all of your proposals. Now one point of contention that we had in our prior meeting was the issue of travel visas for Romanovan citizens in Denmark. As you have not raised this measure I can assume that is something you will not consider changing. We have decided to compromise on this demand. Perhaps the suspension of duties on imports transiting through Denmark that are destined for Romanovskaya. We can limit this to imports being transported by the Maersk shipping company. This way we can receive our imports at a cheaper price while increasing shipping traffic for one of your own companies, surely creating more jobs in Denmark.

I am eager to know what you think of the proposal.

That being said, I am truly excited to hear your proposal to suspend duties on imports transiting through Denmark that are destined for Romanovskaya. I am eager to hear more from you on this particular issue. If we can agree on this measure being limited to imports that are transported solely by the Maersk shipping company, thus making sure it's beneficial for the Danish economy, I am sure I will be able to gather enough support for such an agreement both in the Folketing and the cabinet alike.

Dozens of journalists stood waiting at the Romanovan-Soviet border in Roshchino today for the highly anticipated summit between the Romanov and Soviet foreign ministries. At 9:55am, the Soviet motorcade arrives at the border. Romanovan Border Guards opened the gates and allowed the motorcade through. Security as very high, to protect both the Romanovan and Soviet delegations. The motorcade drove up to a large house close to the border where the summit was to be held.

Romanovan Foreign Minister, Viktor Volkov, stood at the top of the steps of the entrance to the house. As the Soviet foreign minister stepped out of his car, Volkov made his way down the steps to greet him. The two men shook ands and exchanged some words. Photographers surrounded the two men as they then walked to the top of the stairs together. Once at the top they turned and shook hands once more, posing for photographs to document this historic moment.

The two men and a number of officials make their way inside the house. The house itself is decorated with ornate furniture, most of it dating from the 19th century. The delegations take their seats at the old dining room. A large, long oak table simply decorated with a Soviet and Romanovan flag is placed in the middle. The delegations take their seats, sitting facing each other.

Viktor Volkov: Minister Sokolov, I wish to formally welcome you and your staff here to Romanovskaya. I am sure you will agree that a meeting of this nature is long overdue. In fact you may or may not be aware, but you are the first Soviet minister to visit Romanovskaya in any official capacity and for that we thank and congratulate you.

Board of Works

The Board of Works has launched a 'clean plate' campaign, aiming to fight against increasing amounts of food waste.

According to the Qing chapter of the WWF, around 17 to 18 million tonnes of food went to waste domestically in 2015. Such a move also came after the recent rebellion in the south had left farms wrecked and ruined tons of produce. The Empress had lately said that the country must "maintain a sense of crisis about food security" in order to continue sustaining the current population. With the Qing becoming a net food importer, it is imperative that the country is able to feed its own citizens - something that food waste threatens. The Board of Works has implemented similar policies in the past; in 2013, the Board targeted extravagant feasts and reception held by officials and aimed to cut down on food waste there.

In the Viceroyalty of North Chosun, the Viceroy had urged restaurants in the region to limit the number of dishes served to diners, implementing a system where groups must order one dish less than the number of diners, using a "N-1" formula, where N refers to the number of diners present. However, the Viceroy came under attack online as many pointed out that the rule was "too rigid".

"What if one person goes to a restaurant alone? How many dishes can he order? Zero?" asked one person social media.

The Board of Works has said it would also cooperate with the Ministry of Posts and Communications to crack down on Mukbang streamers, who typically film themselves eating large amounts of food. Investigating censors across the country will also make plans to audit food storage warehouses and farms more frequently, to keep tabs on the food supply in the country. The Board of Works has also mandated that people who live in apartment complexes should throw food waste into a separate, communal pool, so food can be composted and donated to farmers. Spot checks will also occur by members of the Imperial Censorate, who will ensure that families follow this rule.

Senate votes to bestow title on President Stauffer

Today a bill passed through the Volkskammer which officially granted the title of "Anyaberek" to President Emile Stauffer. The Phrase roughly translates to "Mother of the People" and celebrates her role in uniting the nation and restoring order in the Danubian Civil War as well as helping to lead the first successful republican revolution after the previous failure in the first Budapest Revolution of 1968.

Now ceremonially and officially referred to as President Emília Anyaberek, she will forever be remembered as the founder of the republic and approval ratings remain extremely high across the confederation as former factions within the Left Revolutionary Front integrate into the Socialist Unity Party and align themselves with Stauffers Administration. This Includes the Peoples Revolutionary Front, Danubian Solidarity Front, The Communist Party of Danubia, the Social Democratic Party of Danubia, The Socialist Party of Danubia, The Danubian Greens and the Danubian Congress of Syndicates.

Meanwhile the Ministry of State Security has announced the threat level of the United Front for Liberty, a terrorist organization lead by former monarchists, nationalists and mezsaros-aligned republicans has finally been reduced to moderate after extensive efforts by the organizations police and intelligence services to hunt down cells loyal to the VFF/SEF succeeded in largely reducing the power base of the organization as well as cutting off many of their supply lines, alongside mass infiltration efforts making it extremely hard for the group to organize. After the death of Richard Mezsaros, many leaders of the VFF/SEF were arrested.

With President Anyaberek's position now more secure than ever and recovery efforts progressing greatly, the central comittee lead by Anyaberek herself announced that the formal end of the troubles and the complete return and restoration of civilian government, announcing that the temporarily military and peacekeeper administrations across the nation would now be abolished and replaced by local councils and legislatures established by the respective republics.

Emilie Stauffer herself was elected as the Consul of Vienna as the Free Commune of Vienna becomes the first constituent republic of the confederation to announce its formation and hold its first elections. Meanwhile the Hungarian and South Slavian Republics are also preparing their own first elections and the establishment of their own administrations, with former Spalato Mayor Kende Boldizar looking to be the likely leader of South Slavia and Key Stauffer ally and statesman Márió Sándor leading in Hungarian Polls

Ministry of Culture approves plan for civil war monument

The Ministry of Culture has announced that it will release funding for the construction of a monument commemorating the end of the Danubian Civil War.

The monument will be located in the city of Zagreb, which was the site of many major battles during the civil war. The monument has been designed by former imperial architect Marius Caramitru and Transylvania-based architect Ante Parlov, a former colleague of Anyaberek.

It is said to consist of a large structure in the middle of a park area in the center of the city, with extensive waterways and flower spreads with large walls displaying the names of those who perished in the civil war on ALL sides of the conflict, with separate sections around the structure for foreign volunteers and expeditionary forces who also suffered losses. These structures will take the shape of a European Worker Bee, the national animal of Danubia. This will be large enough to be seen from the air.

In the center of this complex a large statue in the center, which is estimated to be around 80-90m (262-295ft) tall potentially overtaking "the motherland calls" as the largest statue in Europe. This statue will specifically commemorate the second Battle of Agram, the largest and longest battle of the Danubian Civil War which had the largest death toll of any battle in Danubian History (even from civilian deaths alone). Rough designs shown to the media show President Emília Anyaberek Stauffer, with a Turul Bird resting on her forearm and holding a rifle in the other arm.

The park/monument are predicted to take between 8-10 years to construct with an initial budget of US$300mn released, with the administration willing to expand hte budget up to US$500mn if needed.

Sovatom: Mbini Nuclear Generating Complex

Mbini — The largest state corporation specializing in nuclear energy, Sovatom, announced today a new project in Furstia. The plant is to be located in Mbini, near the Benito River, and will help the nation continue its efforts to become more environmentally-friendly while securing the necessary energy needs for future economic development. Due to the complexity of the project, it will be divided into two phases each taking approximately 2 years to complete. This project not only reassures the close economic relations between both countries but it also expands their cooperation into the area of energy generation.

The project consists of 4 reactors (2 for each phase) that formed part of the family VVER-TOI. This reactor is based off of the VVER-1200 series, and its main improvements are:

-Power increased to 1300 MWe gross
    -Upgraded pressure vessel
-Improved core design to improve cooling
-Further developments of passive safety systems
-Lower construction and operating costs with a 40-month construction time
    -Use of low-speed turbines

Of course, these improvements are in addition to the overall massive improvements of the VVER family over the RBMK family (reactors involved in the infamous Chernobyl Tragedy). The VVER family has an inherently safer design and they do not have the graphite-moderated RBMK's risk of a power surge transient or criticality accident. Furthermore, this newer family has 4 different safety layers to prevent the accidental release of radioactive material.

The main distinguishing factors of this new design of the VVER family are as follows:

    -Horizontal steam generators
    -Hexagonal fuel assemblies
-No bottom penetrations in the pressure vessel
-High-capacity pressurizers providing a large reactor coolant inventory

As mentioned earlier, the project will take a total of 4 years to complete, at a cost of USD$14,570,400,000 - each phase costing USD$7,285,200,000. This project will become a large generator of jobs for Furstian workers as well as a magnet for massive economic development in the Equatorial Guinean region. Sources close to the Rosatom's Management Board have stated that the company is fully confident on the success of the project as it currently handles a total portfolio of orders of USD$300 billion annually.

Congress approves new floating power plant design

Congress, after a lengthy debate, has approved funding for a new type of low-capacity nuclear power plants that can be used to power port construction projects or locations near ports that require power but can't be sustained by normal means. The new designs will be the first of their kind to be mass-produced and be fitted into custom design hulls and towed to their locations they are needed. Each floating power plant will be fitted with a RMWR type reactor and have all latest safety features built in so as to prevent any accidents from occuring. The first of the new floating power plants will be named MH-1A Sturgis and upon completion, will be sent to New Panama and power construction efforts ongoing there in Lake Gatun. Follow-ups will be used around the nation and in the event of natural disasters, be sued to power regions suffering from power outages. Total cost for the project is slated to be just over 20 Billion but each unit, complete with hull, will cost around 20 million. The reason for such a high funding number a person familiar with the project is due to maintenance and cost over-runs.

PM Shchegolyayeva: I am glad that we can now move on from the issue of visas. Now we don't expect to have tarriff free trade through the use of the Maersk shipping company, nor do we want that, we prefer the idea of halving the current tarriff rate. We in return can reduce tarriffs for Danish products sold into the Romanovan market at the same rate. I feel that the proposal is a fair one, reaping instant benefits while also acting as a test too possible further cooperation with regards to trade.

I would at this point wish to quickly thank you and the Danish state for the friendly relationship with Romanovskaya. For decades our nations have worked closely together in the defence of democracy and liberty in Europe. Denmark has for over a century stood as a great symbol for the benefits of the democratic system, all the while combining it with the tradition of constitutional monarchy. It is important that nations of such similar alignment work together to improve not just our own societies but setting an example to people around the world. It is always a pleasure to host defenders of democracy and liberty.

Of course we must also be realistic that this will be a long process, but today is the opportunity to begin that journey to reconciliation between our two states. Myself and my colleagues in the Government have set a few proposals which I would like to discuss with you.

The first will be a visa policy specifically for family reunions. This we feel is a very important issue, one that effects the citizens of both nations. We think these can be 14 day visas that will require documentation to prove that the applicant is related to residents within the other state. So birth certificates and other similar government documents. We also wish to propose a student exchange program. Of course it is not us, but the future generation that will be key to reconciliation between our nations. As such we believe a student exchange program will be extremely beneficial. Our young people will learn the ways of the other side first hand, rather than basing their opinions on rumours and fear.

I am eager to get your opinion on these proposals and look forward to hearing any proposals the Soviet delegation may have.

Title: Montreux Convention 2.0

Moscow — The message from the Hellenic Government came at an important time for the Soviet Government. Now that stability has been achieved through most of Europe, the Soviets are looking to open up to the world through trade, diplomacy and cooperation. The potential of a project to bypass the Montreux Treaty would be extremely beneficial to the commercial and strategic interests of Hellenes and of the Soviet Union. An encrypted letter was sent right away.

~~Official Correspondence of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ~~

To: Waterways Commission, Government of The hellenes league
From: Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Subject: Montreux Convention 2.0

To who it may concern,

Hearing the Hellenic Government's interest in studying the Montreux Treaty and even looking towards the future with a new canal that may bypass the aforementioned treaty altogether has sparked the interest of our Government. As our friends over in Athens know, the Russian people has been enslaved and caged by the Western European powers looking to ravage the world at the expense of the weak.

To be clear, the Montreux Treaty is a way to truly neutralize Hellenic sovereignty. It takes away a decision that should be rightfully of the Hellenic people, not of the Western European powers. The Hellenic Government should be the ones to decide what happens to those straits, not some rich politician in London or in Paris. This is exactly what happened: The powers of the time forced upon the Hellenic people an unfair treaty. Along with this, it strained the Russian people's ability to trade and to stand up against injustices of the world.

With modern times, modern solutions should come. We agree with you, a review of the treaty is necessary but even more importantly, a canal is the solution that will solve the injustices of the past. We welcome that project as well and we express our interest in participating financially and logistically if given the honor to do so.

We will attend this summit and we will support our friends in Athens to recover their sovereignty through this project.

Warm regards,

Viktor Sokolov

Board of Revenues

The Board of Revenues has produced various statistics attesting to economic recovery, following the Qing's recent brush with a devastating rebellion to the South.

Following the end of the rebellion 3 years ago, it was expected that there would be an initial GDP contraction of 9.85%, followed by a 3.6%, 1.2%, and 0.6% GDP growth in the subsequent three years up until now. The Board of Revenues has announced it would amend such statistics, upon closer study into the recent happenings of the state. The initial GDP contraction has been amended to 9.9%, while post-war recovery has been more optimistic.

New estimates show that the GDP growth measures for the previous 3 years were "grossly underestimated". Following the initial GDP contraction of 9.9%, new statistics show that GDP growth measured at 4%, 1.5%, and 0.9% in the aforementioned 3 years.

Citing the recent developments in the Sakhalin-3 project, massive construction projects, the introduction of the 'Megafactory' initiative, new urban projects, and other stimulus measures, the Board of Revenues has expressed "optimism" that the Qing could "definitely return to pre-rebellion status in less than 10 years", provided that it continues to invest heavily into keeping people employed and keeping vital economic sectors afloat. The Board also made several recommendations in line with those findings, including overproduction of military apparatus, an expansion of the Qing's merchant fleet, slum renovation projects, mass housing projects, and encouraging the establishment of worker cooperatives - which have been found to have positive relationships with employment statistics and productivity. The Board of Works has also announced that it would spearhead various urban renewal projects in Haishenwai, Liuqiu, and Beihaidao in a bid to improve local economies.
