African campaign reports success...
Earlier this year, forces of the Phalanx Africa engaged in the first campaign into unprovinced Africa since 468 (2029), when the Senate made clear its intentions to provide real battlefield experience for its soldiers as well as providing the opportunity for glory and plunder.
Despite the condemnation issued by various groups and nations in the prior expedition, there has been relative silence over this campaign, which is expected to continue into the following year. Men of the Third Thunderbolt Legion and Seventh Victorious Legion have maintained the head of the offensive, supported by other units. Various tribal and other native opponents in the North African desert have offered resistance, and a number of citizen warriors have fallen in battle, their bodies returned to their homes to be honoured and cremated with full rites.
Akhilios Galirios Naevola, the governor of Africa, gave a brief statement to the Messenger about the campaign. "We can confirm that our advances against our opponents have not been without resistance, but that resistance has been overcome swiftly. The Third and Seventh have won many deserved spoils with which to enrich the Freehold."

Drug Smugglers Open Fire
A gang of drug smugglers at the southern border with the Greater Moluccas opened fire on border patrol officers. The assailants were stopped for inspection and immediately shot supervisor agent, Yao Xu, in the head. A second officer moved to respond but was shot in the stomach. The smugglers jumped out of their truck and opened fire at the border station and at agents moving to respond. Officers returned fire with their pistols and rifles, killing two of the drug smugglers. The remaining three were injured and surrendered. One agent died and three were injured. One civilian was injured by cross fire. The smugglers were carrying up to 40 kilograms( 88 pounds) of heroin in the truck. The smugglers are suspected to be distributors to the Triads.
Huawei Releases New Phone
Huawei Technology revealed their new phone model series. The series is called "Huawei Galaxy". The Galaxy series will use the updated Harmony OS2 system and will run Baidu, YouTube and Amazon. The Galaxy series will be able to connect to 5G and the upcoming 6G. The Galaxy phones will have up to 15GB of ROM and 9GB of RAM. The battery life will have 4010 mAH. The phones are expected to be released to the general public in one month and will be released internationally a week after it is released domestically.

In March of this year, the Conservative-led Coalition with the Liberals, propped up by the Greens, were humiliated as Government Revenue fell far short of what predicted when the Republic's annual budget was released. Following a well-hidden public enquiry into the matter, this paper revealed last week that the shortfall in Treasury revenues was the direct result of a slump in oil revenues collected by the state from private firms in the industry - something the Government at the time was unable to explain.
However, there is a keen distinction between unable and unwilling. Today, this paper is ready to reveal that the Government was not unable to explain the decrease in oil revenues but, rather, they were simply unwilling. In total, around $40 billion has been siphoned off by the Ministers in question with the Government yet to act against them. However, after briefing parties prior to this release, the National Democratic Front has invited the Green-Black Alliance and the National Union into a cordon santiare against the Conservative and Liberal Parties in an attempt to block them from gaining a 3rd term in power.
2033 Election Begins
Parliament voted last night to officially dissolve itself and begin the two-month period of election campaigning. In his address to the nation, leader of the Conservative-Liberal Coalition, Executor Aerindir Lethandrion, asked the nation to think carefully about their choices and what will occur during the election campaign - summarising his previous 10 years in power as a decade in-which the nation saw stable economic growth and development but promising to do more to overhaul the poor situation in rural areas.
Meanwhile, leader of the opposition, Stefanía da Visitação, made her pitch on social media - promising to form a Government which will uphold the Republic's sacred traditions, end the treatment of Pagans as 2nd class citizens and create an economic growth plan which not only moves the whole nation forward but puts Aestirion first.
The general opinion of the public spans from a timid caution to wild optimism. With the first debate scheduled for next month, who knows what may happen. However, analysts are predicting the main issues in the election to consist of Economic Growth and National Development, national values and the many scandals which have struck this Government in the past 5 years.
Social Democrats on the rise?
On the first day of the election campaign, campaigners on the streets of our nation under the banner of the NDF rejoiced at the publication of the polls. The Aestition Poll of Polls, an average of 8 major national polls published by the State Broadcaster, has the NDF matching reported support for the Conservatives for the first time in almost a decade. For supporters, swing voters and party campaigners, the bump in the polls is attributed to the NDF's young, new leader - Stefanía da Visitação. Representing the "National Conservative" wing of the Party - da Visitação has presented herself as a devout Christian, a firm believer in the Republic and its values but an economic pragmatist who will "get things done."
Whether this is a one-time bump caused by a public fatigued by 10 years of Conservative-Liberal stagnation or the beginning of a trend remains to be seen. What matters, however, is that even those in the party once opposed to da Visitação have become her most ardent disciples. For many in the public, a unified, reinvigorated NDF provide better prospects for Government than a fatigued, in-fighting Conservative Party - in their eyes, only a House united can stand.

A new day, a new Executor
Following the collapse of his governing coalition on election night, former Executor Aerindir Lethandrion announced his intention, before all the results were in, to not put himself forward as his Party's candidate for Executor or remain as Leader - thus granting the newly empowered National Democrats to form a Coalition. In some of the fastest negotiations in Parliamentary history, the National Union and National Democratic Front put together a coalition - putting forward NDF leader Stefanía da Visitação as a joint candidate for the post.
Beating the Conservative, Liberal, Green and Socialist candidates - da Visitação's new Government's majority only exists so long as the Arión Front remain Abstentionist; something they have said they intend to do. Should the Arión Front take up their seats in Parliament, and the new Opposition unite behind a single candidate, a confidence vote could spell disaster for Aestirion's first female Executor.
In the meantime, the Red-Purple Coalition, as pundits have dubbed it, is reportedly already working on a new budget for the nation - even before the Executor has appointed a new Cabinet. Only time will tell whether or not da Visitação's grand ambitions will be delivered on.

Aestirioni Executor elected...
The Republic of Aestirion has had an election, and seen a coalition emerge between the National Union and National Democratic Front political parties. Together they have put forward a joint candidate for leadership, and subsequently Stefanía da Visitação, new leader of the NDF, has also taken office as Aestirion's first female Executor. da Visitação had made electoral pitches on social media, promising to uphold Republican traditions, and to end the maltreatment of pagans in the country.
The official social media accounts of the joint archonship and the Senate have just released posts congratulating the new Executor on her ascension, with an open gesture for diplomatic relationship building between Ephyra and its Selian cousin. Western commentators criticised the Senate's account for allegedly disparaging the capability of women leaders, and demanded that the post be taken down. The post remains up with no further comment by the Senate.
Stefanía da Visitação's government is not guaranteed security however, warns the Magdalena Guardian, as should the presently Abstentionist Arión Front take up their seats and organise an opposition, the new Executor could be toppled from her position. However, with claims of no such intention on the part of the Arión Front and no immediate sign of unity by the other parties, the stage looks set for Stefanía da Visitação to implement the vision she promised.

Huawei Model A Flop. Lenovo Steps Up
The Huawei Galaxy Series have reported low sales in the country and have just barely broken even with very little profit gained. The phones were described as being very buggy and slow. Nonetheless, the Harmony OS2 was shown to run. The main competitor to Huawei, Lenovo, announced plans to "One up Huawei and give our competitors overseas a run for their money". They announced a model in the making called "Nova" with the exact specifications not released to the public aside for the confirmed use of the Harmony OS2 on the phones.

She announced she will utilize social media to give updates to the Chinese people and to the world. She stated she wishes to discuss economic cooperation and mutual defense. PM Bo Arrives In Ephyral
Prime Minister Bo arrived in the capital of 
The Land of the Ephyral as the sun rose. She was accompanied by a small security detail, a diplomat and reporters. She was met by the Archon and one of his sons. PM Bo was wearing the traditional yellow Hanfu with a Canterbury Cap as a sign of her status of being a politician. The group posed for a photo shot and made their way into the city of Ephyra. The group will first meet on establishing better relations between the countries.
Blizzard Strikes Everest Region
The National Weather Service has issued a bulletin to the Everest region. A blizzard is expected to hit at around midnight and dump nearly a foot of snow. A stay at home order was issued. Power is expected to go down but power companies are attempting to prevent this.

Arrival of Prime Minister Bo Ling Chen...
Bo Ling Chen, the Prime Minister of China, arrived in Ephyra today as reported by Xinhua News with a security detail and a diplomat. The archon presiding this month, Kalemnos Kelerios Amandos, publicly welcomed the Prime Minister under the flag of Ephyra, accompanied by guard detachments of the Sacred Spears, a number of senior senators, and his son, Volesos. The Archon and Prime Minister were photographed exchanging a formal greeting in each other's language, and grasping each other's right forearm. They then posed for a group photo, before making their way into the city proper.
Formal procedure will see the Prime Minister enter the Senate house to be introduced by Archon Kalemnos Kelerios Amandos - and his co-Archon Aulos Ophelios Emera - to a quorum of the Senate for formal recognition and ovation. It is believed Bo Ling Chen will be the first female foreign leader to enter the Senate house since its ritual establishment nearly five hundred years ago. Ordinarily women are prohibited from entry, but as a gesture of future co-operation, an exception has been granted that will allow her to fulfil the formal etiquette of diplomacy with the Ephyral Senate.
Upon completion of this procedure, a symposium is expected to be hosted at the villa of the archon presiding, accepting and acknowledging the Prime Minister as a guest and a friend, before private talks with her own advisors, the archons, and their aides can commence as per the procedure of other nations. With the Prime Minister's visit due to last a week, it's presently unknown where she will be accommodated, although the archon presiding's own home, an ambassadorial villa, as well as a number of hotels, have previously been offered to various heads of state and government.

Tibet Digs Out
After nearly a foot of snow was dropped on the Everest region, the locals have started to dig out. A fleet of salt trucks from the Tibetan State Burea of Higways salted Highway 3A crossing into the region. The Tibetan line of the Chinese Rail was suspended due to the maglev tracks freezing over. Power was temporarily knocked out around the Everest region but it was restored within an hour. All climbs to Everest were put on hold but were lifted as of 8 am. Despite no snow being in the forecast, the coming days are expected to be just below 0°C

PM Bo Ling Chen met with Archon Kalemnos Kelerios Amandos - and his co-Archon Aulos Ophelios Emera on Sino Ephyral relations especially with issues like trade and future meetings. The topic of future summits came up with one planned to take place in Beijing.

Right To Life Bill Up For Review
The Right to Life Bill is up for review. The Bill was passed in 1965 that banned abortions for birth control, capital punishment and active euthanasia by the KMT, Democratic Progressives and the Liberty Party.
The bill is reveiwed every few years and has been upheld. This year Communists and other Leftists assembled in front of The Forbidden City and Parliament to advocate repealing the bill with the "Right To Die" Bill that allows for abortion, legalizes capital punishment and allows for active euthanasia. They were met by counter protestors from the Church in China and the youth wing of the KMT. They carried signs that said "Why do you want to kill me?", "I knew you before you formed me in the womb" and other sayings. They chanted the Kyrie Eléison to silence the Left.

Chinese summit in Ephyra...
As previously reported by both the Ephyral Messenger and Xinhua news, the Prime Minister of China, Bo Ling Chen, arrived and stayed in Ephyra for a number of days to discuss matters of diplomatic relations and trade with the annual archons Kalemnos Kelerios Amandos, and Aulos Ophelios Emera. Amandos, with primacy in Augustus, led the talks, hosting Emera, Bo Ling Chen, and a number of Ephyral Senators, aides, as well as Bo Ling Chen's own entourage in a symposium at his villa just outside of the city.
Xinhua News reports accurately the planning of a future summit to be held in Beijing, likely under different archons, but with the expectation that Amandos continue his diplomatic function after his term as the Freehold's de facto liaison to China.
The Chinese outlet further reported more intimate details of the Prime Minister's visit, including her decision to stay the night at the archon's villa, and her keeping the company of Volesos Kelerios Amandos, son of Archon Amandos. The sighting, and her overnight stay, has led to whispers and rumours in both countries as well as others. The Ephyral Messenger was able to obtain a statement from the younger Amandos, placing the matter in clear light for all to read.
"Yes, Miss Bo Ling Chen did stay the night at my father's villa," he initially disclosed, before moving on to reveal, "and we are now friends. I can however speak to the discovery she found spending said night in my room as opposed to her own a more enjoyable and comfortable experience."
As expected, the news has caused little stir in Ephyra itself, where, for our foreign readers, the act of a citizen bedding a foreigner is of little concern, even at this high of a level. Regardless, the news has sent tongues wagging in the Chinese legislature, and the Prime Minister herself is yet to comment. If her willingness to appear publicly with the archon's son is any indication however, this revelation will be met with similar coolness as young master Volesos has shown.

Hands of the gods in unusual birth..?
A local news story from Helekinos, Sicilia, has spread far beyond the colony itself, bringing news of a highly improbable event. The sequence of events however dates back many years, with the birth of twin girls to Galgios Kaelidios Amox and his wife, local citizens of freeholder class, nineteen years ago. Ceremoniously, these twin girls married on the same day, April 16th, 2032, but what has now captured the attention of all in Helekinos and indeed, all of Sicilia, is that both women, now wives, have given birth on the same day. And both have produced twin girls of their own.
The sheer odds against this happening have led many to name Rhaea, matron goddess and patron of childbirth, motherhood, and family, as having an intervention in these events, and subsequently the local community of Kaelidios Amox has organised a feast and sacrifice in her honour. Now, several days after the event, the Ephyral Messenger was able to contact the Amox family, and speak with both Galgios Kaelidios Amox and one of his daughters.
When asked about the peculiarity of the event, Kaelidios Amox said, "Of course, I'm amazed. If this isn't the hand of Rhaea and fortune, what is? Both my girls now have twins of their own to raise."
Kaelidia Amox Kertuna*, new mother to the children of Laekos Rasilios Melito, accepted to give comment also. "Ample offerings were made to the goddess before birth of course, for my sister and I, that she would grant us easy labour and little pain. Clearly her favour is boundless. My husband is practically moonstruck now that he's a father, and my sister's husband is too I'm sure."
Kaelidia Amox Restara* declined to comment.
Such stories of potential divine meddling capture the attention of Ephyral citizens in a world of Christians and Muslims, and reinforce the knowledge and surety in a divine order.

Reds Call Out PM
In light of the recent discovery of PM Bo Ling Chen spending the night with the Archon's son, Volesos, the Far Left Communist Party took to smearing her name. Chairman of the party, Zhao Yang, stated
"Madame Prime Minister abused her position to score political points! She slept with a Bourgeoisie leader's son all so that she can win thr support of Capitalists from abroad! She is nothing more than a political skank! She has spat in the face of the Chinese Nation and the Proletariat!"
A small group of Communists assembled at Tiananmen Gate at the Forbidden City Government Residence. They carried the Communist flag, portraits of Mao Zedong and signs displaying vulgar obscenities directed at the Prime Minister.
The Kuomintang stated they will not remove her from her position of Prime Minister as her actions were not criminal and were consensual on both parties. The KMT did say that
".... while unprofessional, she did not do any actions that broke the law and did not jeopardize the Republic of China. No actions will occur as this is a one time event. If they do pursue a relationship then nothing will happen"
The general public overall has a neutral attitude towards this issue.

The Earthquake in Chengdu caused minor damage to some structures and to roads. 50 people were injured and 3 people were confirmed to have died. No buildings collapsed due to the building codes that strengthen buildings from earthquakes. A series of aftershocks continue to rock Chengdu but are lessening in intensity. Authorities have issued an All Clear with a Watch Alert. This means that there is no imminent threat but people are being urged to be attentive.
Church To Hold Beijing Conference
The Church In China will host their Beijing Conference. This conference is held every 4 years and is a meeting of the House of Bishops, House of Elders(composed of priests and deacons) and the Laity Guild. The event is lead by the Primate and Archbishop of China. Several issues will be discussed such as Ecumenical Relations with other Christians.
Assassination Threat
A assassination threat was made to PM Bo and President Ma by a member of RSAL, a Communist thug group. The thug threatened to drive a truck with a bomb into the Forbidden City and shoot survivors.
The threat reached the attention of the National Police Agency who tracked down the thug and arrested him. RSAL threatened to raid the Beijing Police Headquarters to "liberate our comrade". In light of this, more police were placed at the headquarters and at the Forbidden City.

Reds Storm Police HQ
The thug group RSAL attacked Beijing Police Headquarters. The officers retreated after the initial attack and the Police HQ was briefly held by the thugs. The group ripped the Republican flag off and raised the Communist flag. Within three hours of the attack, five precincts rallied to respond with riot gear and tear gas.
The police gave orders to stand down, which was met by a round of bullets. The police stormed the building and opened fire on the RSAL. Five RSAL were killed and many more wounded by bullets and by being beaten by police.
It took only one hour to retake police headquarters. The inside was a complete mess. Marxist graffiti littered the walls, desks were turned over and small fires were set.
President Ma and Prime Minister Bo ordered the National Police Agency to do a crackdown on RSAL and to investigate the funders that include the Communist Party and overseas funding.

Patrick Lee defeated Khan in Ulaanbaatar via TKO in Sanda. Lee was able to deliver many jabs and jump kicks to Khan several times. Khan was able to hold Lee off for time using jabs to his face and body until he was knocked off his feet via a sweep to his right leg. Lee will now move on to the Championship match being held in Macau against José Chan.

The Right to Life Bill was upheld by the government and will be up for review in another 10 years. People celebrated while Communists continued to boo the ruling.
Communist Party Suspended For Investigation
The People's Assembly and the Legislative Yuan called to suspend the Communist Party during the investigation of possible involvement with RSAL. The Communist Party currently holds 20 seats in the Assembly and 5 in the Legislative Yuan. This does not prevent them from voting on bills but it does prevent them from holding party activities like rallies.
The Communist Party decried this action, calling the Chinese government "Tyrannical". The Chinese government replied by saying
"You had best watch yoursevles. If you so much as have one blemish in your records, you will be declared a criminal organization and arrested. Try us"
