It's really quite fun, though I've been playing Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak or whatever it's called. It's a little less intimidating since there isn't 3D space combat in it.

It's the same way with Homeworld though my dude, it's cool, it's just that at the ripe old age of 24 I've been afflicted with the beef-brain that so many elders do.
Also I haven't found the pause button, so getting my brain to on-the-fly chart it is kind of hard.
As a fun aside, if you like the idea of 3D combat I recommend both COADE (I've talked about this before I think? It's a sim in the skin of a space-combat game where you get to pain-stakingly create your own parts with the help of material science) and NEBULOUS: Fleet Command. COADE is more for the thrill of seeing the new gun you build tear holes in the armour of enemy ships, NEBULOUS is more about learning how to command a warfleet in space, and you can sorta make parts using what's in-game and sliders for propellant versus warhead size and the like.

After seeing the ineffectiveness of a Socialist economy, the government has instead begun the process of adopting a Corporatist economy, in which the economy will be privately owned and managed and will engage in negotiations with the working class and their labor unions, with the federal government as a neutral mediator to ensure peaceful cooperation between the Three Social Classes of Society. Update on the mech, replaced the Large Pulse Lasers with Particle Projector Cannons. I figure that since it's meant to be a really long range platform, it's better to concentrate the firepower in a single second (as opposed to the full discharge the lasers would require)
