The economy of Alylnor is based around the Gold Sovereign, the currency is minted as circular coins with the sea serpent, also on the CoAs, imprinted in the middle. Other iterations exists including coins with castles and other landmarks imprinted, regardless of what's imprinted in the middle all Gold Sovereigns have the same border imprinted which features runes from the Alylnorian language which reads "Alylnor".

Trade is without a doubt the largest sector in Alylnor. Artisans create the finest elven jewelry and art. Farmers produce food, drinks and ingredients for potions and elixirs. Mages and artificers imbue common day items with enchantments, which are highly sought after across the known world. Furthermore, goods from Lustria are increasingly being sold in Eldrathis in higher quantity. Mages increasingly peruse the streets for strange artifacts which has escaped the Kingdom's attention. Shipbuilders build trade ships, even for other races. Expeditions unload Coffee, Sugar and other exotic plants which are well received by those shrewd enough to get their hands on them. Also, in the bustling port of Eldrathis captains offer their services to adventurers and other patrons in need of transport.

Outside the Kingdom, merchants seek the mysterious technology of steam-engines to sell to the King, who hopes to reverse engineer them for Alylnor's purposes. Metals themselves remain in high demand, required for the construction of weapons and buildings. Food, silk and furs are other examples of goods imported to the Kingdom.

The capital of Uul is Othk, situated far inland of the island of Great Uul. Built entirely in a narrow green valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains on all sides, one of which is the largest mountain in Uul and also a dormant volcano. Othk is not the largest city in Uul, but it is the gathering place for the high priests of the Godrot faith and government affairs. In the heart of Othk is the largest temple in Uul, dedicated to the Leviathan. The city is safe from coastal raiders and outsiders, with nearly the entire population of Othk being devout highhorns, and are not exactly the most open to outsiders. The city dwellers are mostly merchants and artisans, woodworkers and weavers, getting shipments of wool and wood from the farms in the outskirts of the city. The city is also home to the largest university in Uul, where citizens of the theocracy study in matters of faith and hone their spiritual magic. This university is also one of the most difficult to get into, even for highhorns.

Eskellur wrote:[b]What are the characteristics of your nation’s economy, what do they produce and trade for?

The theocratic government of Uul tends to be quite isolationist and would limit its trade with other nations, but its main trade goods include fish, crustaceans, wool, livestock, walrus ivory, baleen and whale meat/blubber, ships and naval supplies, and manufactured/woven goods made by monks. However, a black market of Thjün have began operations, trading with outside nations.

The map has been updated! Everyone please welcome Benezandria and Zhalgatha to Lustria! In addition, I have added two bold territories, IC independent and acting as NPCs!

Uul and Zhalgatha

I'm really struggling to get a handle on the Z'halgathan economy. The simplest thing to do would be to go full mordor - industrialised nation, unsustainably exploiting the land to build a brutal war machine.

But i kind of don't want to do that. I want the mordern empire to be a more insidious evil that works in the shadows to gradually expand their influence - still after global domination but isn't going to directly try to go to war with everyone (cause that would get boring fast).

The issue i'm having is that malevolent empire of mindflayers doesn't exactly conjure up images of a well-organised economy for me.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Apharad's economy circulates around several sectors:

Agriculture, Mining and Resource Extraction:
In central and northern Apharad, while trade is very common, the main industries are focused on production of raw resources. Fertile valleys and rivers in the north allow for grain production which feeds much of the country. The mountains running through central Apharad are mined for iron and other ores, and gemstones whenever veins are found. Usually, these metals and gems either enter utside trade immediately or are then transported into a separate sector, which is manufacturing.

Manufacturing:
Mainly located in southern Apharad and around Apharad's major cities, basic factories-along with newer, more advanced factories-are used to produce manufactured goods and products which are then traded to other nations for luxury goods. These factories mainly rely on the large urban population for employment, and very few have any magical involvement. In Apharadian ports such as Telephesos, ships are built for the purpose of trade, known for their cost-effective designs and approaches.

Trade:
Apharadians are spurred on by the trade of raw and manufactured goods produced within Apharad to other nations in return for other raw and manufactured goods. However, the nature of Apharadian trade is much more advanced than just this. Located within Telephesos is the Grand Market, in which merchant companies and families sell stock within their ventures to investors, with the payout being after the merchant enterprise is completed. Similarly, the Grand Market also invests in all commercial activities in Apharad (given that they are large enough to be noted), and invests in the merchant companies and families themselves.

Banking:
Located in the city of Gotiva are the Apharadian Banking Families. These six or so families manage the finances of clients across The Distant Shores and are trusted for their reliability and diligence. Their work goes back centuries of generations, and they're loaded from all of it.

Also Interesting:
Notably, there is quite the distrust between the merchants and the bankers, as they both fight for influence over the Aphar. For starters, the nature of both industries is very different. While the merchants are made up of companies and families, with both companies and families often rising from the lowest of Apharadian classes and falling back to poverty (not all are so transient, it's just an inherent reality of the competitiveness), the same banking families have dominated for centuries. many of the banking families maintain the tradition of speaking Geneporan, the pre-Apharad language of the land, while in merchant cities Common is seen as the de-facto language of business. Both sides represent different Apharads, and so feud over the slightest favor of the irritatingly impartial Aphar.

A full species index will be created soon!(accidentally posted too early)

Below is a tentative list so far, the descriptors of various species which will be expanded in the index itself. Tell me if you have any submissions (or subsets of current species to add to it)!

The only limit is that it has to be sentient in a manner that people could conceivably communicate with it, and subsets of species have to be biologically distinct from the parent species (ex. Wood Elves vs Dark Elves). The list also won’t list hybrids like Half-Orcs or Half Elves (at least not as their own distinct species, I might have a section on intercompatability but that might veer into weird territory so maybe not)

Small
Kobold (Greenscale, Greyscale, Redscale)
Goblin (Cave, Arctic, Urban)
Halfling
Gnome
Dwarf
Kenku (Tropical, Temperate)

Medium
Merfolk
Harpy
Tiefling
Human (Vampire(?))
Tabaxi
Elf (Wood, Sea, Drow)
Cephalidrathi (Zhal)

Large
Hobgoblin (distinct subset of Goblin)
Centaur
Orc
Troll
Ogre
Highhorn (Uul)
Giant
Dragon
