Valsora is the premier roleplaying map of the East Pacific RMB, and is home to a wide variety of nations created by people all around the world. These factbooks contain all the information you need in order to get started, as well as much more! Hold conferences between nations that have had years of writing put into them. The Claim Process:

In order to claim a spot on the Valsora map, follow this process:
  • Decide what you want your nation will be. This is the first process of making a claim, as it will impact several key decisions. Do some worldbuilding. It doesn't have to be super in-depth, just think of the basic cultural values of your nation.

  • Once you have a basic understanding of your nation, compare its culture with that of cultures in the real world. Try to figure out what culture it most closely resembles.

  • Match this culture with the culture of one of the continents on the map. Each continent on the map roughly corresponds to a culture group in real life. Nonscio, Araseos, and Solitas are all inspired by Western Europe, with Araseos being generally more Germanic, Solitas being more colonial, and Nonscio having no specific leaning. Yastreovakia is inspired by Eastern Europe and Slavic culture. Orientalis is inspired by the Far East, whether that be China, Japan, Korea, or whatever other Far Eastern nation you can think of. Usnistan is inspired by African and Middle-Eastern culture. Antarctia is a frozen wasteland, and generally is not open to claiming except under specific circumstances.

  • Finally you are ready to send a telegram to Plazland detailing your nation, where it will be located, and why it will be located there. Exceptions can be made for placing nations in other cultural zones, but they are rare. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, please include a Linkpicture with your claim. This prevents confusing exchanges as the Cartographer attempts to decipher where exactly your nation will be, how large it is, and the shape of the borders. Additionally, there are a few optional additions that can only be added with an image claim. Namely, these are a capital city and internal borders.

  • Finally, why not join our LinkDiscord Server? It's just one click away, and it's where you can easily talk to the management of the map.

General Rules:

GENERAL RULES:

Rules on CTE: If your nations ceases to exist, you will be removed from Valsora effective immediately, your land cannot be claimed by other nations, even if you are in a union.

Removal Guidelines: If your nation is not deemed active on Valsora, and does not RP for at least 1 month, you will be removed from the map to save space. IF you need an exemption from this (eg. holiday, irl responsibilities) you should alert the cartographer.

Rules on purchasing land: Large amounts of land may NOT be purchased on Valsora, there is no direct size limit in place, the rule is up to the cartographer. For example a nation may purchase a tract of land the size of a small city / county IF they extensively RP the purchase.

Rules on Nuclear Weaponry: Nuclear weapons ARE permitted on Valsora, but with a cap of 50 kt and a limit of 1 use per conflict. For example Nation A can fire a nuclear missile at Nation B ONCE and no more, and it must be of a 50kt size or below. Please note nuclear weapons CAN be and often are shot down, so use it wisely.

Rules on Metagaming: IF you come across information about say, a planned invasion on Discord, you may NOT take IC action upon such. You RP as an IC nation, and if you gain information OOC you may NOT act on it in roleplay, if you are found to have metagamed, you will be investigated and run the risk of being banned.

Rules on Godmodding: Godmodding is strictly prohibited on Valsora. All roleplay must be within the realms of normality and reality, for example with a population of 100 million, your likely standing army would be around 1 million, not 10 million. Another example of godmodding is controlling another nations characters or actions, if you fire a missile at Nation B, they must decide what they do to counter the missile, not you. If you are found to be godmodding, you will be investigated and run the risk of being banned.

Rules on Fantasy / Magic: In some rare examples, fantasy elements are permitted in Valsora, such as currently dragons and diety's in RP. Please note that any and ALL fantasy elements MUST go by the cartographer before use in RP. It must be approved before you are permitted to use it.

Rules on Alliance Size: There have been multiple problems in the past due with the size of alliances; if there was no limit, then the map would be dominated by mega alliances. If they were too harsh, then they wouldn't allow for any substantial alliances to take form. With the current iteration of this rule, alliances are limited to around 8 members each. Additional, but separate, alliances cannot be created to subvert this ruling. This limit does not apply to observer states, as long as they are prohibited from activities an alliance might commence in its lifetime (Voting on bills, military conflicts, directly taking part, directly influencing, etc). This also prohibits a nation to be within multiple alliances at once, though this does not apply to treaty's as long as they follow the guidelines above

Allowed Technology:

Technology on Valsora follows MTRP guidelines (Modern Tech Roleplay). The general ruleset to follow, is that technology utilized in Valsoran RP is what can be used today, and in the near future (2030 max.) Specific examples are included below, but if you are unsure of a technology's use on Valsora, please contact the Cartographer before use.

Natural Expansion:

Natural Expansion involves growing your nations borders through RP. You can utilize natural expansion in many ways, such as roleplaying colonization, land purchase or invasion! Natural Expansion is permitted as to give players an opportunity to grow themselves over time, though there are rules in place to avoid abuse of this.

Natural Expansion is only permitted once every 2 months. This is to stop nations from abusing natural expansion and growing too quickly

Natural Expansion must be heavily roleplayed, natural expansion requests will not be accepted if the expansion is not roleplayed extensively. By such, I mean to recommend multiple fairly long posts, or a dispatch outlining how the land was gained, why it was gained, and so forth.

Please note that the Cartographer(s) hold the right to refuse natural expansion requests if they so choose, whether it be due to size, a nations inactivity, or other reasons reliant on fairness.

Leaving the Map:

If at any time you would like to leave Valsora, please contact the Cartographer and let them know. Please note that you cannot reserve land for yourself later on, or a friend, nor any specific nation. You may not also transfer any land, weapons, currency or anything that may act as a positive to another nation before you leave unless specified otherwise by the Cartographer.

Aisling Duval (13-June-12195 to Sept-8-12228) is the Link52nd Prime Director of Nevertopia, leader of the Spring Court and a prolific civil rights activist. She is known as a kind-hearted Linkaltruist who consistently believes in giving everyone in her nation a chance to change and grow into better people over time. Regardless of how many people ridicule her dream, she’s determined to make a fiscal way of eliminating all Linkpoverty a reality. Despite her youth, the people’s princess (as she is sometimes known) is extremely popular with common Nevecians. She appears to be a shrewd politician, although many would argue that her advisors provide her with a veneer of acumen. She is young at only 29, and very visible in the media, regularly appearing on lightweight chat shows, but tends to avoid anything where she might have to face tough questions.

She is against the Linkslavery deeply rooted within the world of LinkAbeir-Toril, borrowing much of her policies from the Linkcivil rights movement in 1960s American history back on LinkEarth and founded a non-government charity named Unchain. She is known for her dislike of government corruption, partly due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her mother's death from an Linkaneurysm caused by a Linknarcotics overdose shortly after her birth. Combined with her father's unfortunate legacy from a Linkhedonistic lifestyle, this has left Aisling with a passion for helping those whose lives have taken a turn for the worse. At heart Aisling is a Linkpopulist, taking many of her views from the public mood. She splits her personal time between managing her Linkcharity, and spending time with her Linkcomatose father in Achenar.

Prime Director Duval passed away in the opening act of the Thargoid offensive on Sept-8-12228 presumably during the Thargoid orbital strike on Parliament Hill.

Personal Life


Formative Years

Born out of Linkwedlock in Cubeo, Cemiess, Nevertopia, Aisling is the daughter of retired politician Harold Duval and his mistress, the deceased actress Imogen "Eccentrica" Gabrielini. She is the eldest out of Harold Duval's known children. As a child she excelled in her studies and was constantly placed in advanced classes, this would often lead to her isolation as she would often leave her peers behind and be place with children in an older age group. She studied at Cemiess Bardic College, where she was the student representative on the school's Board of Trustees. Whilst still at school she found her first job working at a local fish-and-chip shop. She attained a LinkBachelors of Arts in politics and public relations with Honours from Cemiess Bardic College by the age of 22.

Military Career

At the age of 18 she would be Linkconscripted and placed into the Nevecian Arcanum due to her mastery of Bardic spellcraft, attaining the rank of LinkCorporal. While there she earned a reputation as an Linkelite and dangerous operative, deploying in high-risk anomalous combat, infiltration and extraction scenarios against the LinkMindflayers and became a primary military advisor to then Major-General Nydoorin for a major offensive operation against the Illithid threat and liberation of their mind slaves. Nydoorin evaluated Aisling's leadership during the operation as "nothing short of brilliant". When Aisling returned to Cubeo, Nydoorin sent an open letter to the local press which called Aisling "the best single Nevecian intelligence asset in theatre", stated that her work saved "a multitude of coalition lives", and noted that the Nevecian Forces should "seek her advice on how to change our entire tactical intelligence training and architecture".

Aisling has been cited in dispatches for the usefulness of her tactical Linkcounter-insurgency knowledge in the planning and implementation of an unnamed operation in 12214 to secure important terrain. Her experience dealing with Illithid psychic combat, eldritch Linkbioweapons, and mastery over personnel-based Linkmosaic warfare would earn her the admiration of her subordinates as a brave and ferocious leader. During the mandatory 2 year service of her conscription however, tragedy struck as her father would be left comatose after a car accident due to Linkdriving while intoxicated. After her mandatory service had ended she would then decide to enter politics instead of continuing her career in the Arcanum.

Political Career

Aisling was brought into politics by her father, Harold Duval, a longstanding member of the Winter Court, who recruited the teenaged Aisling to help him with campaigning for LinkNew Innsmouth MP LinkScanlan Shorthalt during his re-election campaign at the 12210 general election. She later joined the Spring Court of Nevertopia at the age of 20, and became a senior figure in the civil rights sector of the party. After graduating from the bardic college, she spent some time working on a private venture with a few of her close fellow graduates that would lead to the creation of her Unchain charity foundation. After a period of time in LinkAnor Londo City, where she Linkvolunteered at the Linksoup kitchen her charity ran and worked on a workers' rights campaign, Aisling moved to the capital city of LinkYharnam where she became the LinkMinister of Security, Containment and Protection after being handpicked by then Prime Director and former Winter Court leader Kars Esidisi in no small part due to her prolific military career.

After the dissolution of Prime Director Kars' government in 12219 due to a public brawl with a LinkSun Soul Monk escalating to his death via thrown into an erupting volcano she was chosen to be party leader of the Spring Court and formally announced her candidacy for Prime Director soon after. Her tragic family history, accolades earned during her tour of duty and her body of work with the disenfranchised would prove overwhelmingly popular with Nevecian society earning her the nickname of "the people's princess" and culminating in her election as the youngest Prime Director in Nevecian history.

Aisling has described herself as a Linksocial democrat, a Linkprogressive, a Linkrepublican and an Linkegalitarianist, citing LinkRelena Darlian as a political heroine, and has described Link21st century Earth capitalism as a "blatant failure" due to the extent of Linkchild poverty and Linkhomelessness at the end of Earth's history. She advocates a lower rate of Linkimmigration, suggesting a drop of around 20,000–30,000. Calling it an "infrastructure issue", she argues, "there hasn't been enough planning about population growth, we haven't necessarily targeted our skill shortages properly". However, she wants to increase the intake of refugees.

Aisling believes the retention or abolition of Feywilds electorates should be decided by the Feywilds, stating, "[The Feywilds] have not raised the need for those seats to go, so why would we ask the question?" She supports compulsory teaching of the Sylvan language in schools.

Space Program: The nation runs a space program.

Nuclear Power: The nation is nuclear powered.
Nuclear Disarmament: The nation has signed a treaty to oppose the use of nuclear weapons.
Climate Treaty: The nation is a signatory to an international climate treaty.

Religious Views

Duval's father was a devout LinkPelorist and her mother converted from LinkLathanderism to Pelorism just prior to their wedding. As a child, Aisling attended Mass each Sunday and said her prayers each night before bedtime. She became a lapsed Pelorist at age 18, as she felt that much of his day-to-day life was not addressed by the formality and structure of the church. Duval described her faith during this period as "like so many Pelorist across this country, I said, 'OK, I'm Pelorist, I'm of faith, but I'm just not really going to go to church. Maybe on Edoiras Feast, maybe midnight Mass at Breadgiving Eve.'"

After the death of her Linkhalf-brother Thokk in 12215, Duval went on a month long Linkpilgrimage and explored Linkdivinity among the various faiths present in the nation, during which she renounced any form of faith completely. In 12216, when pressed on the topic Duval stated, "My own personal Linkmorality has been shaped by the different religions I learned from during this time in my life and I find myself following the cause of love and peace that unites these faiths together instead of any one doctrine. That is an extremely important part of who I am and the values that I try to lead with."

  • She is a hybrid level 8 Lore Bard and level 2 Rogue with access to tier four bardic spells. In contrast, the average trained Arcanum operative is around level 5 and specializes in only one field.

  • Her critics argue that her persona as the sweet-hearted and affable "people's princess" is nothing more than a carefully crafted public image and the real Aisling is a cunning and ruthless politician.

  • Despite her demure demeanour, much like her father she is prone to promiscuity and often makes headlines on celebrity media for her multiple "flings".

  • She is openly Linkbisexual.

  • She was briefly engaged to President Rosa Throntalm of Reuturn after President Rosa unknowingly proposed to Prime Director Aisling in Nevecian custom through the sharing of homemade sweets and a gift of great sentimental value (a pokemon card from President Rosa's childhood), who moved to tears by the bold gesture accepted on the spot.   • She was briefly deceased before magical resuscitation due to Link28 stab wounds inflicted by her android assistant.

  • Decide what you want your nation will be. This is the first process of making a claim, as it will impact several key decisions. Do some worldbuilding. It doesn't have to be super in-depth, just think of the basic cultural values of your nation.

  • Once you have a basic understanding of your nation, compare its culture with that of cultures in the real world. Try to figure out what culture it most closely resembles.

  • Match this culture with the culture of one of the continents on the map. Each continent on the map roughly corresponds to a culture group in real life. Nonscio, Araseos, and Solitas are all inspired by Western Europe, with Araseos being generally more Germanic, Solitas being more colonial, and Nonscio having no specific leaning. Yastreovakia is inspired by Eastern Europe and Slavic culture. Orientalis is inspired by the Far East, whether that be China, Japan, Korea, or whatever other Far Eastern nation you can think of. Usnistan is inspired by African and Middle-Eastern culture. Antarctia is a frozen wasteland, and generally is not open to claiming except under specific circumstances.

  • Finally you are ready to send a telegram to Plazland detailing your nation, where it will be located, and why it will be located there. Exceptions can be made for placing nations in other cultural zones, but they are rare. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, please include a Linkpicture with your claim. This prevents confusing exchanges as the Cartographer attempts to decipher where exactly your nation will be, how large it is, and the shape of the borders. Additionally, there are a few optional additions that can only be added with an image claim. Namely, these are a capital city and internal borders.

General Rules:

GENERAL RULES:

Rules on CTE: If your nations ceases to exist, you will be removed from Valsora effective immediately, your land cannot be claimed by other nations, even if you are in a union.

Removal Guidelines: If your nation is not deemed active on Valsora, and does not RP for at least 1 month, you will be removed from the map to save space. IF you need an exemption from this (eg. holiday, irl responsibilities) you should alert the cartographer.

Rules on purchasing land: Large amounts of land may NOT be purchased on Valsora, there is no direct size limit in place, the rule is up to the cartographer. For example a nation may purchase a tract of land the size of a small city / county IF they extensively RP the purchase.

Rules on Nuclear Weaponry: Nuclear weapons ARE permitted on Valsora, but with a cap of 50 kt and a limit of 1 use per conflict. For example Nation A can fire a nuclear missile at Nation B ONCE and no more, and it must be of a 50kt size or below. Please note nuclear weapons CAN be and often are shot down, so use it wisely.

Rules on Metagaming: IF you come across information about say, a planned invasion on Discord, you may NOT take IC action upon such. You RP as an IC nation, and if you gain information OOC you may NOT act on it in roleplay, if you are found to have metagamed, you will be investigated and run the risk of being banned.

Rules on Godmodding: Godmodding is strictly prohibited on Valsora. All roleplay must be within the realms of normality and reality, for example with a population of 100 million, your likely standing army would be around 1 million, not 10 million. Another example of godmodding is controlling another nations characters or actions, if you fire a missile at Nation B, they must decide what they do to counter the missile, not you. If you are found to be godmodding, you will be investigated and run the risk of being banned.

Rules on Fantasy / Magic: In some rare examples, fantasy elements are permitted in Valsora, such as currently dragons and diety's in RP. Please note that any and ALL fantasy elements MUST go by the cartographer before use in RP. It must be approved before you are permitted to use it.

Rules on Alliance Size: There have been multiple problems in the past due with the size of alliances; if there was no limit, then the map would be dominated by mega alliances. If they were too harsh, then they wouldn't allow for any substantial alliances to take form. With the current iteration of this rule, alliances are limited to around 8 members each. Additional, but separate, alliances cannot be created to subvert this ruling. This limit does not apply to observer states, as long as they are prohibited from activities an alliance might commence in its lifetime (Voting on bills, military conflicts, directly taking part, directly influencing, etc). This also prohibits a nation to be within multiple alliances at once, though this does not apply to treaty's as long as they follow the guidelines above

Allowed Technology:

Technology on Valsora follows MTRP guidelines (Modern Tech Roleplay). The general ruleset to follow, is that technology utilized in Valsoran RP is what can be used today, and in the near future (2030 max.) Specific examples are included below, but if you are unsure of a technology's use on Valsora, please contact the Cartographer before use.

Natural Expansion:

Natural Expansion involves growing your nations borders through RP. You can utilize natural expansion in many ways, such as roleplaying colonization, land purchase or invasion! Natural Expansion is permitted as to give players an opportunity to grow themselves over time, though there are rules in place to avoid abuse of this.

Natural Expansion is only permitted once every 2 months. This is to stop nations from abusing natural expansion and growing too quickly

Natural Expansion must be heavily roleplayed, natural expansion requests will not be accepted if the expansion is not roleplayed extensively. By such, I mean to recommend multiple fairly long posts, or a dispatch outlining how the land was gained, why it was gained, and so forth.

Please note that the Cartographer(s) hold the right to refuse natural expansion requests if they so choose, whether it be due to size, a nations inactivity, or other reasons reliant on fairness.

Leaving the Map:

If at any time you would like to leave Valsora, please contact the Cartographer and let them know. Please note that you cannot reserve land for yourself later on, or a friend, nor any specific nation. You may not also transfer any land, weapons, currency or anything that may act as a positive to another nation before you leave unless specified otherwise by the Cartographer.

It’s a very nice map, though I’m not sure I’ll be taking part in the community it involves, as this nation is very much dependent upon a steampunk aesthetic and the freezing weather and all.
