I mean much, much bigger than that. My KR-BT’s are already better than that. I’m talking very, very, very big.

That would a superior feat of technology to build such massive constructs that they somehow don't sink into the ground from weight alone. Of course, I mustn't be trusted because I have used similar (Halo) vehicles in the past for one off RPs.

Technically, while not fully detailed, that is my goal.

Once he gets the stats to match his lore, I won't pester him about it anymore.
Me, I'm nearing my goal of being a major power. Not necessarily superpower.

P1000 ratte times 4?

As in taking one of my Stonehenge cannons and putting it on a chassis big?

Kathol rift wrote:Exactly how big of a tank can I make? Can I, for instance, fulfill the original dream of the KR-BT in being a rolling battleship? Could I, perhaps, make something to fire nuclear warheads as shells to eliminate cities in a single shot? Could I, possibly, create a fortress on treads? Maybe I can.

Why use tanks when you can use venerated titans like the Imperator class?

Cohuila Y Tejas wrote:Well, if you're nearing FFT I feel like you could probably figure out how to make a literally fortress on treads

Yet again, how would it move in different terrains?

It can't cross bridges, and therefore flops with wide rivers.
Sand in deserts can kill threads. Same with snow and ice, after a certain amount of time.
And steep hills can make it go stuck at some point.

I know.

Wubdich wrote:Look at the Ratte. That one was impossible as it would have been hardly able to move.

The Maus is the absolute limit a tank can be, in my eyes.

And, yes, a tank can carry nukes, if it's useful is the other question.

I shall save this for a higher tech level

If you spread the weight out enough, it shouldn’t sink. You’ll just need to build a full nuclear reactor into it just to make it move. I’ll save this for a much higher tech level.

And yet I'm somehow not allowed to have airborne warships.

Because a flying warship is considerably less easy to build than a rolling one, even at a much higher tech level.

We'll get there with our own designs... eventually...

Hilly terrain- very powerful engines
Snow- very wide tracks
Wide rivers- Deep river fording capabilities

At that point, wouldn't it be best to elevate the thing on legs and call it a tank? Sure, you'd run into the issue of falling over, or having the legs got shot, or getting stuck, or being unable to go certain places, but at least you can move, if the feet work like the tires of cars to, i.e. putting the least amount of "tire" on the ground as possible yet still holding up that enormous weight.

Kathol rift wrote:If you spread the weight out enough, it shouldn’t sink. You’ll just need to build a full nuclear reactor into it just to make it move. I’ll save this for a much higher tech level.

Pretty much my point. I'm saying that at a certain level it'll become more feasible to use legs than treads or wheels.

No, I mean the weight and size of a full battleship, if not bigger. But I’ll wait for this.

The Pacific Ring wrote:As in taking one of my Stonehenge cannons and putting it on a chassis big?

Somewhere around that, yes.

It wouldn’t need to move much. The cannon would have such a ridiculously long range that the only moving it would do would be to move troops. The real idea-killer is how to transport it between continents.

The engines would already have to be powerful to move a battleship on land. Unless it's a nuclear reactor, it has not great chances moving in the first place.
And fitting all properties in one vehicle would either overload it, make it too heavy, or useless in other regards.
