World Factbook Entry

The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE), at 28,000 square miles, is one of the largest intact temperate-zone ecosystems on Earth today, encompassing Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. It is one of the world's foremost natural laboratories in landscape ecology and geology and is a world-renowned recreational site.

Greater Yellowstone’s natural diversity is essentially intact, retaining or restoring its full historic complement of wildlife species—unique in the wildlands of the contiguous 48 states. Habitats range from high alpine areas to sagebrush, hydrothermal, forests, meadows, and other habitat types. All of these are connected, including linkages provided by streams and rivers that course through changing elevations.

We need your urgent opinion for EmbassyRegi0nia's most recent Poll

Yes, we have always been aware that most people have underestimated how much magma we've got down below. And, no, it's not about to blow.

...also, please please be kind to any staff, employees, and citizens--human and otherwise--that live, work, and play in the GYE (Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem). Basic human decency and kindness aren't that hard. I challenge you to empathize with someone. Bonus points if it's someone you don't like very much.

Also, a happy 2023 to all beings on and near this beautiful planet of ours. May the coming year bring us all more happiness, peace, and well-being than the last three years combined.

REAL TALK: Nothing That's Worth Learning Can Be Taught In School.

We don't need no education?

We have a poll that you should vote on

How many times do we have to remind you people? DO. NOT. TOUCH. THE. BISON. Especially not the calves. I don't care if you thought you were being helpful by pulling what looked to be one struggling to cross the river. Do you see now that the herd rejected it because you put your stupid man stink all over it and we had to euthanize it? That was as dumb as those people putting a calf into the back of their vehicle because they thought it looked uncomfortable.

When in Yellowstone, you leave the wildlife alone. You don't go into the hot springs as if they were hot tubs.

That is all. Here's a brochure and a map. Enjoy your stay.

I can't believe our department has to keep saying this, but anyone... anyone...caught trying to walk across thermal features or leave the designated trails and boardwalks will be prosecuted to the FULLEST EXTENT OF OUR LAWS! Likewise with harassing or touching or "helping" (not helping) any of the wildlife. We don't go defecating on your military cemeteries, using your constitutions as wipes, and using your holy sites as trash heaps. Our lands are sacred. Respect them, or you will pay dearly. Your sense of entitlement does not give you the right to desecrate our parks meant for all people.

Um...is it just me, or are the deer looking a bit like zombies? Geez, I was really bad at the last zombie outbreak, I don't know if we have any more of those anti-zombie antidote bombs left!

And the tabloids worry about the end of the world coming from an eruptions of the Yellowstone caldera, eh? Turns out there are other kinds of earth-shattering disruptions. Fwew!
