Going to try to mix up the sweetener. I have a bottle of "Bartender's Ketchup" (aka Elderflower Liquor) which I might want to try next.

I confess to Rabbie Burns, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I am starting to prefer bourbon over scotch. My latest bottle actually comes from Long Island (where I live) from a place called Spy Trail Distillery (https://www.spytraildistillery.com/). It's good.
Welcome to the Dark Side young padwan!😜
Bourbon of the "week" (not sure if I will review a different bottle each week): Horse Soldier (***** Premium).
Produced and bottled in Somerset, Kentucky from the American Freedom Distillery
Caramel on the nose.
A light tasting, smooth bourbon.
It has that "cigar" feeling to it but in a good way.
87 Proof
Paid $45 for the 650ml bottle
Well it's week 2 and just coming home from work (working overtime to prepare for the primary election) and after making dinner I am opening up the next "bourbon."
This is "Wyoming Whiskey, Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey." 88 Proof; aged 5 years. (pouring sounds not available in the text).
Distilled, barreled and bottled in Kirby, Wyoming.
A smoky nose with a reduced caramel smell,
A sharp bourbon; the sharpness lingers and the secondary flavors just peak out from the sharpness, but they are there.
Similar price range (forgot to get the receipt); 750 ml.
Good neat, doesn't need to be chilled. Going to be my goto this week when I come home around 8:20PM.
Week 3: Going for a lesser price bourbon: Bulleit Bourbon is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced at the Bulleit Distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky and the Bulleit Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky by the Diageo beverage company.
It is characterized by a high rye content for a bourbon (at approximately 28% of the mash bill) and being aged at least six years.
It is bottled at 45% abv (90 proof) for the US, Canadian, British, Dutch and Mexican markets.
Nose: Light, a little smoke, a little caramel
Taste: a little flat, the flavors come in at the end
Same price range but for a 1 liter bottle.
I'm currently cooking a "cheeseburger pie" made with a "paleo" bend of beef meat and organs. Grabbed a frozen pie crust and didn't realize it was non gluten. I do have panko flakes in the pie, so it makes up for it. If you are on X, check out Sama Hoole @SamaHoole who is a big pusher of the carnivore diet and basically makes the case for meat, eggs, and dairy.

Oh shoot. I let all my alts (including on vacation mode) except one irrelevant nation my WA and my main CTE. (Which means, quite unfortunately, a region I was keeping on life support has also died.)
Double oh shoot: almost all of yelda's nations CTE'd ;-; hope they're doing alright. How've things been here? Scrolling up a bit I noticed quite a few folks CTE'd :(
(Also see cross-RMB coms are open now, thanks for inadvertantly letting me know
Dengist China ;P)
Sorry I haven't been around for all of that, for some time rather. Just haven't been super into NS lately; actually at the point I'm considering not renewing my availability as MoFA for Forest :p Just been such a tired spring since I got sick I still haven't been up for much recreationally outside of youtube and a nation building MC server hosted for a cursed conlang youtuber's discord, funny as that may sound.
Surprised noone's brought up the WASec stuff going on yet ;P absolute cinema. Some great campaigns like Chan's pirate adventure. Apparently he has a great moustache. But man some of them, like from that Justa character, absolutely vomit-inducing. Maybe Yelda will come back and run in half a year xP
Will try to remember to say hi once in a while ;p take care,

All good, Jutsa!
We still love you, Mortal. Have a free all day ride pass to Murrayland.<has Catgirl minion hand over the pass>
Happy 250th Birthday America!
People think that working for the board of elections is a part time job. We're still wrapping up the primary that was done on June 23rd. Several party committee members (these are the people who walk petitions and vote for the party's choices), all Democrat, had primaries and since they represent a specific election district, there was a number of manual hand recounts (with lawyers present). Then there was the required audit. Now we were checking to see if the coordinators had properly secured all of the ballot boxes (two tags on the box and one tag on the bag that covers the box). That sample took most of all day yesterday. Naturally I was the one lugging all these new smaller boxes and cutting the tag on the bag to get the ones inside because it's better than working on my penmanship. Others are going over the hundreds of books (one per polling place) and bags (where all the data sticks were located) and doing even more checks. Then we have to get ready for November. Apparently the new machines need new programming, the old poll pads need to be reset before we can return them, and they are going to replace the horrible LED lighting while this is going on.
So in the news: I'm working on another novel with a retired Bobby from New Penzance (
Blue Booted Bobbies) along with an Iteration X mage from
Dirty Americans, and a female bartender, go from the nation of New Penzance, to Sidney, and then a cruise to Retired WerePenguins.
Meanwhile
Tzorsland has been promoted to governor of The Pleiades currently with three surviving members. Probably will have to do something about that.

The latest chapter of my book depicting the modern day Blue Booted Bobbies and a somewhat interesting cruise to Retired WerePenguins. This chapter just gives an overview of the region.
The first nation on the continent, located just south of South America, was a nation that was dedicated towards either the death or the martyrdom of someone named “Kenny.” There they set about invading Middle Eastern nations. Taking advantage of the Violet tendency to not want to see women uncovered, they developed units of female commandos that were, to put it mildly, scantly clad. They also developed a chemical weapon that increased the libido of those who inhaled it, probably not a good thing when heavily armed but scantly clad ladies are trying to pass small projectiles of lead through your body with extreme velocity. And they had exploding penguins; emperor penguins that literally exploded.
It was at this time that the nation state of “Tzorsland,” located on the Indian subcontinent, took an interest in the exploding penguins of Kenny and wanted to obtain the “secret.” To this end they created a special team of females based on the forces in the United States known as “Sea, Air, and Land” or SEAL units. While the United States (at the time) did not hold copyrights or trademarks (unlike the United Nations which, thankfully, no longer exists) the nation of Tzorsland decided to call them Penguin teams.
At this point things are difficult to determine with precision because they were classified and because the nation of Tzorsland mysteriously disappeared (to the stars, some insisted) and people started believing that the whole notion of Tzorsland was a work of fiction. It was suggested that the force of the penguin teams were cloned from three genetically enhanced prototypes. In any event, the project proved unsuccessful (in getting the secret of the exploding penguins) and the penguin team members were allowed to settle in Antarctica, but as far from the nation of Kenny as was relatively possible. They settled west of a vast nation state known as the Palentine, after acquiring the rights to a French research station known as Dumont d’Urville, they moved in and divided their new territory into three areas, Turquoise, Emerald, and Ruby. Turquoise was where Dumont d’Urville was located and while, at first, they simply wanted to name the growing city Turquoise City, they stuck to the name of Dumont d’Urville as the proper name for their newly formed capital of the growing nation.
Now given the overall reputation of the region of the Antarctic Oasis which included things like exploding penguins, genetically modified solders (these were a creation of the Palentine that were known by the German word for hunter.), and an amusement part that was dedicated to the character of a talking skull called “Murray,” it would only be natural that the growing nation of “Retired WerePenguins” would, in turn, be accused of some really strange things. This included, for a time, the accusation of cannibalism, with their adoption of the motto “Tourists are Tasty.” They would later have to explain to the international community that this was all an inside joke as they had started to import ostriches to the greenhouse farms and since the ostrich was not native to Antarctica they were jokingly called “tourists.” The French researchers still at the station were perfectly fine, they insisted.
With the collapse of the United Nations, and the formation of the World Assembly, the growing nation joined the ranks and entered into (as the representative from the Palentine called it) the “Festering Snakepit.” The most notable ambassador to the World Assembly was a Flash Blonde (apparently they use hair color as a surname) who became a laughing stock to the world, proving the reputation of the blond hair color. On the other hand, many argue that the World Assembly had fallen into the stupidity of Marxist socialism and even a dumb make blond jock could see the problems and protest them.
Then there came the faithful day when government officials, looking at the abundance of free nuclear energy and the evolution of cities where no one ever needed to go outside in the well below freezing air determined that they should just crank up the temperature and eliminate clothing entirely. With that, they said goodbye to the confines of clothing, to the presence of micro plastics caused by decaying fibers and started working on the technology needed to support a population that no longer had pockets.
Fortunately, a significant section of Dumont d’Urville, known as the “Tourist District” is “clothing optional.” This is important because a significant amount of revenue is derived from people from the Palentine who arrive via a vacuum sealed magnetic levitation “train” and from the various cruise ships that arrive in the summer.

Got the call today. Everything is spotless, not a single cancer cell on any of the biopsy punches taken during the colonoscopy, nothing in the blood and fecal, and the ultrasounds showed near normal intestinal wall thickness. My son has achieved complete remission.
